‘Started hitting the moves laid out in these courses the very next class...extremely uplifting to have such a quick improvement in my game’ - Houston, TX
‘I’m the only white belt in the academy doing these moves…I’m suddenly competing at a blue belt and above level…thanks Coach Tom’ - LA, California
‘Some of the best strategies you are going to see for control and submission’ - London, UK
‘The detailed way Prof Tom breaks down his moves into the absolute essentials is just next level for me. This is absolute gold‘ - Sydney, Australia
‘Most of the guys at my Academy, have about 60lbs on me, but since purchasing your ‘Kimura Attack system’ and ’14 days’ everything has changed. I feel much more confident, roll better and the guys on the mat have commented on the same. Thanks, Coach Tom’ - Dallas, TX
‘I know you have your names for your courses, but I’ve renamed them the ‘Zero to hero’ courses, I went from getting constantly owned, to now being completely dominant on the mat in no time at all’ - San Diego, California
‘I use the course material heaps, and just recently put it into action at a local comp, walked away with double gold. No one was more surprised than me! - Miami, Florida
‘As a new white belt, these classes have helped me so much, Prof Tom’s technique, the details, and his attitude. I love how Prof. Tom shows the ‘mistakes people make’ and then shows the correct way of doing things. The only one I have ever seen do this’ - New York, New York
Great videos, great instruction. I just watch them for hours…Melbourne, Australia
‘The instructional saved me big time at a recent comp, my opponent was def more experienced, but that was ok, coz I had Prof Tom’s video in my brain. Nailed it and scored gold’ - Colorado, Denver
‘All of it. Everything you show in your awesome videos are now my ‘go to techniques’. Thanks for your vids Prof, Tom’ - Houston, TX
‘You really have to watch every second of the video because Prof, Tom drops these little nuggets of gold throughout the course. And they make ALL the difference. The only one doing this. Keep them coming Professor’ - NY, New York
‘If I could only be taught from one person, Prof Tom would be it. I can’t wait to train in person one day’ - Dallas, TX
‘Went to a recent competition with these videos fresh in my mind. I knew I had an edge and the confidence this gave me was unreal. Got the gold. All submission wins! - LA, California

Keep spreading the message Tom. Not everyone wants to be a world champ. Plenty do it for fun, and because they love it.

I think it's great for helping people tone down their ego's.
Because I think Jiu-jitsu is one of those that for long periods you feel like you aren't making progress and getting smashed over and over.
The ego gets a pounding then suddenly you'll hit a sweep or a good escape against someone really good and you then feel like there's improvement even if you still get smashed smashed it's those little improvements that keep you going back and I'm lucky the place I train is so chilled and a fun place to be.

I had a negative experience recently. I've been training for less than a month. I had an instructor I've never met before, mid thirties (brown belt). He offered to roll with me and submitted every 20-30 seconds. At this point I was winded and just trying to survive and get position. While doing this I grabbed his arm and apparently pinched him twice. He the said to me " if you pinch me again I will choke you out". No humor in his voice and it was not a teaching moment. It was a full on threat and it sucked. Feeling discouraged and not really wanting to go back. This was probably my 7th or 8th class and had great times previously. Was that a weird thing for him to say or am I being soft?

As a coach myself, I know all too well what getting pinched by a white belt feels like! Having said that, threatening you is a joke and the guy must have been having a bad night. Id suck it up unless it happens again but do try to not pinch skin, everyone does it when they start! Keep at bjj! (-: Coach Tom Davey

It wasn’t right what he did man accidents happen as a brown belt level practitioner he shouldn’t be acting like that .

He should be encouraging you to relax and the more tense and the more stressed you are the more likely it is you'll pinch him by mistake when going for an arm.
I'd maybe talk to him and say I'm really sorry my coordination because I was gassed was all over the shop I didn't intend to pinch and maybe he'll slow it down next time.

I got subbed 12 times in 5 min and ended up biting the guy it wasn’t on purpose it was more a desperate reflex, I apologized after and was banned from the gym

Learning how to deal with these egos, will help you grow your heart...Have an untroubled spirit and see things for what they are. BJJ is sooooo much bigger than one ego and that ego will eventually get dealt with by a high belt at some point...BJJ is a team sport, you cannot get better without your training partners...5 year old rules work great for everyone, treat others how you want to be treated.

I like BJJ. Always being a nice guy in the gym and showing respect to the coaches but I don’t see that reciprocating in reality from a few ego ones. Thanks to this video, I will learn to ignore negativity.

Ego is, why I gave up. These idiots keep bigging themselves up. Can't be bothered because of them.

In my class, I have 50-year-old recent blue belt who does not like to guide the basics, does not like to discuss on any questions, curses a lot, randomly says to shut up to lower belts or newbies and unfortunately, the instructors at my school are Brazilians and they do not understand English. It just makes me feel sick when I go to class. I do not know If I should I stop going to the class and work at the home gym, because of me being vocal and trying to correct him made things even worst and I keep getting verbal attacked and bullied, I initially thought BJJ is a great sport BUT lately started to realize it is just creating a negative energy, I am a contractor, I work with military and best folks in IT, I also do auditing for instructors on various aspects from technical to non-technical, combat sports is my passion and always has been. I do not want to go back to my old mud dog days of back and forth silly arguments or getting personal/physical. ATM I am completely avoiding him and basically, he is non-existent to keep my focus and positivity, appreciate if anyone has a better way for me to deal with this type of situation. REMEMBER I am 33 years old looking for wise advice.

HI Ash. It sounds like you either need to a: confront the guy, ask him to be polite and if it escalates speak to your coach. or b: leave and try a new academy. or c: Just get better than him and whoop his ass and shut his ass up with your skills. (-: Coach Tom Davey

Coach Tom, appreciate your response and options, I better go with option C and convert the negativity into beneficial aspect for myself. I am sure if I leave this school and go to some other place I will have some other person to deal with :). Thank you.

I try to be nice as possible and try to respect my partners while rolling and bow to them if I choke them out.
