I enjoy watching how owners create a different "world" behind a generic HDB door. Even the small galley kitchen resembles the tight space in kitchens in small Japanese restaurants. Not a big housing unit, but a joy to watch how each space unfolds.
Love this home. It looks so clean and yet so functional. The vibe is so fitting of a Japanese theme as compared to the typical ones I see in many homes. Great design!
This is so funny - such a SMALL appartment, and then THIS kitchen. Obviously - someone there is crazy about that, and it shows, but it is - interesting.
So Peaceful & Quiet Home! It's relaxing to watch the Wabi Sabi interiors & narration of Home Owner! Love the Living, Kitchen, Breakfast Counter & Master Wardrobe! Cheers!
Love this home- very calm and minimal with a very appealing and consistent theme. Btw, I think the right way is to remove one’s shoes and stepping straight onto the clean home floor without putting your feet onto the genkan which is considered an ‘outside space’.
If and when there are children in the picture, maintaining the house might be a little more challenging but otherwise, this is a very soothing and relaxing home to return to. The background music also adds a classy touch to the homeowner's narration.
what is the stainless steel material for the kitchen it looked matte n doesn't have the usual ss looks.. quite unique n nice.. the carpentry work is quite good..
some very interesting design choices. And I love the overall aesthetic. Do HBDs - or this one in particular - come with external storage space? Like in a basement floor of the building? There seems to be quite little storage space in the flat itself. Unless perhaps the living room room floor contains storage drawers? I did notice the single central drawer that contains the projector. So, I guess it is possible that there are more drawers to the side of that for storage....
This not bad, not bad. Looks like the ID and owner have done some homework on most Japanese aesthetics rather than just placing them haphazardly just to include some Japanese elements for a design or using them incorrectly. Most are quite correctly applied and implemented. The only things I've spotted that were wrong was the transition from the Genkan to the Shikidai of the inner house. The owner should avoid stepping directly on the floor or tiles of the genkan itself (known as the Tataki) either in socks or on barefoot. He should instead step into the inner quarters of the house directly upon leaving his footwear without touching the genkan's floor. That is the reason why there is a clear demarcation between the outside (dirty) and the inside (clean) that should not be mixed by human touch. This is Japanese etiquette that is often oversighted. The Tokonoma should also be the most important aspect of the room in which the Tokowaki and its chigai-dana (shelves) and other displays supplement its importance. In this particular case, this seems to be reversed. The Tokowaki and decorative shelves were given precedence in that dominant position of the room and the Tokonoma was relegated to only a small unseemingly section at the edge. This a bit weird. Lastly, the Kami-dana should have its own separate individual location rather than being found in the Tokonoma/Tokowaki. We should always separate the sacred realm of the Gods from the mortals, onto their own higher plane. It would have been more appropriate if it was installed above the Tokonoma/Tokowaki rather than in it with our mortal's possession for this case. If it is to be in the Tokonoma, the Tokonoma should solely be reserved for the Kami and offerings with nothing else to signify its higher status, separated and above our mortal status and earthly possessions. I guess some aspects were installed more for aesthetic purposes than true meanings. I've enjoyed it nonetheless. WIth love, A local Japanophile whose house is also renovated based on traditional Japanese aspects.
Thanks for the detailed insights! It's clear you have a deep understanding of Japanese aesthetics and traditions. We appreciate your thoughtful feedback 😊
The term "master bedroom" has become controversial due to its associations with historical power imbalances and racial hierarchies. Critics argue that "master" evokes the legacy of slavery and the unequal power dynamics between enslavers and enslaved people. The term has also been critiqued for perpetuating gendered hierarchies, suggesting a dominant-subordinate relationship in a domestic context. In response, many in the real estate and interior design industries have adopted alternatives such as "primary bedroom" or "main bedroom," aiming to use more neutral and inclusive language. These changes reflect broader societal shifts towards sensitivity and respect in terminology.
I felt a bit odd as a native Japanese, too. It is a beautiful place with so much love toward Japanese culture. But, we call a room Washitsu only with tatami mat floor, Chigai-dana 違棚 is two shelves installed right and left in different levels, shiki-dai 敷台 is the step to get up on Agari-kamachi 上がり框(this is the actual floor), plus clean Japanese people would never feel right to double purpose the floor and dining table. Still, it’s amazing how much knowledge they have , and make me so happy that they love our culture so much with respect. It makes me proud of it even though we are loosing some of the traditional architect in common Japanese homes.
私も同感です!! It’s so true, and totally agree as Japanese. It’s always bother me that people do not understand the concept of taking shoes off at the entrance and get on the inside floor directly from the shoes without stepping on the entrance floor.…
Not practical in the long run. Any items that do not belong to the “Japanese” genre or zen theme will look out of place inside the living space. In fact the place is more suited for monastic living 😇 …

Its nice to see the personalized touches in this HDB and what you can do 😊
Powder room art is 10/10 fantastic😂😂😂
💯 Best art ever
This home has an incredible custom feel. Nicely done incorporating many traditional Japanese design inspiration with a modern twist. Very elegant.
Agreed, the blend of traditional Japanese elements with modern design is beautifully executed. 😊
The design is very purposeful and intentional.
Everything was planned and executed wonderfully 😊
I am a Japanese viewer. I feel your love for Japan. Thank you😊
Glad you liked the home 😊
Not the cat meme😂😂
😂😂😂
Bro is a real one for that! Pure vibes👍
Love this home. It looks so clean and yet so functional. The vibe is so fitting of a Japanese theme as compared to the typical ones I see in many homes. Great design!
Glad you noticed the Japanese-inspired vibe! It's clean, functional, and fits their lifestyle perfectly.
beautiful. the meme/art in the common bathroom hehe! all the best to the couple.
Fits just right 😂
Adore this flat! The “dining table” brings back sweet memories of a child living in San Francisco dining in Japanese restaurants. 💕💕💕
It does replicate that of Japanese restaurants 😊
The most well thought design I've seen so far on Stacked. Preventing potential quarrels with dual showers is genius.
Thank you! The dual showers are a fun and practical addition-glad you noticed! 😊
while watching I feel peacefull vibe in the apartment. Simple and functional.
Glad you felt peace even by just watching it 😊
really like the Kitchen
Who doesn't? It looks so nice!
This is so funny - such a SMALL appartment, and then THIS kitchen. Obviously - someone there is crazy about that, and it shows, but it is - interesting.
The homeowner's passion really shines through 😊
This is a good design. Well done! And, thanks for not painting the interior black like many designs shown in this channel do.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching! 😊
So Peaceful & Quiet Home! It's relaxing to watch the Wabi Sabi interiors & narration of Home Owner! Love the Living, Kitchen, Breakfast Counter & Master Wardrobe! Cheers!
That's pretty much everything 😊 Glad you enjoyed watching!
I was not expecting the Japanese tradition art version of the cat meme 🤣🤣 11/10 amazing home! 🤩
That cat meme was unexpected! 🤣
that double shower master bathroom is unique and definitely reminds me of the shower area before you go into the onsen. interesting.
It is different, but it's so cool! Perfectly made for them 👌🏻
Love this home- very calm and minimal with a very appealing and consistent theme. Btw, I think the right way is to remove one’s shoes and stepping straight onto the clean home floor without putting your feet onto the genkan which is considered an ‘outside space’.
Thanks for the tip! Glad you love the calm and minimal theme!
Extremely creative and impressive re-interpretation , one of the best HDB featured!
Absolutely brilliant reinterpretation! 😊
love the animation at the end.
Thank you 😊 The animation is really eye catching
The table! The no tv! Beautiful!
Absolutely! The table and no TV are brilliant choices! 😊
Amazing function and design for such a small home. Very clever use of space, and it doesn’t really feel small at all.
Absolutely! Clever use of space can really transform how a home feels.
If and when there are children in the picture, maintaining the house might be a little more challenging but otherwise, this is a very soothing and relaxing home to return to. The background music also adds a classy touch to the homeowner's narration.
They are Dink.
Yup! The home is perfect for them as a couple 😊 Thanks for watching!
Stunning❤❤ big love for the home!
They poured a lot of heart into making it special. 😊
I like everything about the design and decor. Feels very sensual.
That's wonderful to hear! Sensual design can really enhance the atmosphere of a space.
what is the stainless steel material for the kitchen it looked matte n doesn't have the usual ss looks.. quite unique n nice.. the carpentry work is quite good..
the kitchen is the star.
Star of the home indeed!

🤗❤️
This home is so interesting in so may aspects and inspirations. ✨
Thank you! We're glad you find it inspiring! ✨
A very clever design to maximise 66 square metres and maintain privacy👌
Absolutely! They've really nailed the balance between space and privacy.
But where did you buy the cat on the table artwork?
Wow love this
Thanks! So glad you do!
Many thanks for sharing such a interesting video!
Glad you enjoyed and found it intriguing 😊
Sol luminaire!

No external storage in HDB flats, I’m afraid.
if you don't own much stuff, then no need for extra storage. it's basic for essentialists/minimalists. also keeps the home clutter free.
Excellent 👌
Thank you! It is brilliant 😊
Those sandals work for Singapore 😮
Why not? 😅
Crazy
Crazy good 😊
gosh... this is my dream....
Absolutely dreamy, right? 😊
Probably the most zen home ever. The combined shower is... kinky 😆. How did he get to keep the katana?
He said when he was selling everything from his business, that piece didn’t sell, so he kept it.
It's lovely 😀
Truly 😊
710 sqft, but designed such that it looks bigger than it is
Incredible design makes 710 sqft feel spacious! 😊
I would like more chefs to assert the intelligence of a galley kitchen to my fellow Americans!
Totally agree! Galley kitchens are so efficient and smart. 😊
may I know the dimension of the living area?

This is Maximized space
Yes it is, every corner is utilised 😊
日本人から見ると色々と違和感を感じます。外国の方が想像する日本なのかな?

❤❤❤❤❤
The house is very nice almost like a Japanese house but the toilet bowl is not Japanese-style.
Yes the home has a lot of Japanese influences 😊
😮😮😮😮😮

i get jail vibes from this design
What a beautiful jail this is then 😅

Interesting take! It's true, keeping a consistent theme can be challenging. 😊
a living room without a cosy sofa is a big NO!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It does add warmth to a home 😊

Building such a large platform hiding a dining table is such a stupid idea
Thanks for the feedback! 😊
This is one of the stunning dwellings you have featured 🩷🩷🩷
Absolutely breathtaking! 😊
