Yes ma’am! Everything you said was exactly how I felt when choosing LPN first. I just graduated on the 7th and now just waiting to take NCLEX-PN. I’ll be going back for transition to ADN next fall. I wouldn’t change my route for anything! It worked for ME. Now I can stack and gain experience for a few months until I go back to school 🥳

I’ve taught too many RN’s how to draw an IV. I’ve seen doctors grab LPN’s before they grab the RN’s all the time. Nursing is all about your hands on and weeds out people who are just booksmart!

In my experience, (I work in PA/NJ) a agency or travel, LPN makes more than an RN spends less time in school and pays way less to get their education, so why would I pay more money to make less money? I’m not someone who wants an administrative position, so I don’t really feel the need to get my RN. and if you’re someone who really enjoys long-term care or psychiatrics, most of the nurses, I’ve seen were LPNs anyways. As someone who is 21 years old on their own, there’s no way I would’ve financially been able to go to school for the amount of time it took to get an RN anyway.

So, after researching and talking with fellow girlfriends who have been through various nursing programs and in the medical field, I’ve decided that the LPN program would be a great first step for me. I plan to take the entrance exam sometime next year once examination resume in Jan 2024. And yes, it is your life and we know ourselves best! I’m definitely at a stage in life where I cannot mentally stay in something too long, so these steps would be beneficial to me AND I can focus on each task. Thank you young lady for this video. I may be an outlier here in the comment section but I will be pursuing a LPN rather than RN due to this being a career change for me. I'm in my mid 40s and have successfully single handedly raised 2 twins who are now both in college. The goal is to transition into the healthcare sector and ultimately use my work and educational background in combination with LPN/nursing to pursue later on leadership administrative role. I do not want to start off seeking the RN due to already having degrees and not wanting to be pigeon hole myself or worse unable to land employment because of the competitiveness of RNs with experience. I've come to assess from research that the LPN route can provide a foundation for not just valuable work experience but income much sooner, lesser debt, less time commitment with school and more insight of whether the RN is necessary. Also, there may be a LPN opportunity with an employer willing to invest or provide tuition support to its employees which will be the incentive for me to further education and invest the time to obtain RN. To sum it up this will be the field that I can see myself retiring from on the administrative side of LPN after having put the hands on work in. All the best to you and others with choosing the LPN in confidence.

Depending on the state, some LPN’s make great money. Also some people like to break it down like myself & not go straight into a 2 or 4 year program, depending on what they have going on in their life, as far as kids, time management etc…. Some like to go LPN, then bridge to RN. I’m glad I became a LPN first, it worked out great for me.. now I work in the ER, while currently bridging to RN.
