Fabulous piece of kit. Welcome to England guy's 🇬🇧🇺🇸👍
It’s definitely better to be an ally of the US than an enemy! Glad we’re on the same side!🇬🇧🇺🇸👍
What a fine force the British are to be fighting along side of.
It's funny that you call us only Allies, when we Americans call you Our beloved Cousins😂.
Indeed it is good to be on the same side
@@halicarnassus8235the offspring’s of your mom and dad’s brothers and sisters are your cousins nobody else.
The air power on this ship is larger than many country's airforce.
Propably better than all the Russia Airforce after what we see in Ukraine...
@@latenight6845 you're not wrong there, but even before that war in Ukraine, America had the largest airforce in the world.
Followed closely in second place was also America has the second largest airforce in the world.

The USS Gerald R Ford Super Carrier is the 7th largest air force in the world all by herself.
Amazing statistic if you think about it.
@@GBURGE55 And if you dont think about it? Nothing changes....
😅
@@Norwegian733 very true
OK, so how many hundreds of aircraft does the Ford class carry. I do mean hundreds because the royal Saudi Air force has almost 700 combat aircraft and they are only the 10th largest in the world. You are just a tiny little bit off.
YOU GOT TO BE HIGH! THEM SHORT RANGED GAS GUZZLING ⛽ F18 GARBAGE 🗑 ANT FLY AS FAR, AS A6E TRAM NOR TAKE THE BATTLE DAMAGE OF A F4N PHANTOM, NOT EVEN GOT NEAR THE EW CAPABILTY OF EA6B ICAP2, NO S3 VIKING ASW AIRCRAFT! NO KA6D AERIAL TANKERS WITH FIVE 480 GALLON TANKS AND HOSE AND DROGUE REFUELING CAPABILTY! 😳 WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SMOKING!
Mind boggling really - welcome to the UK!
Talk about projecting power (or gunboat diplomacy as it was previously known). We might have started it, but the Yanks sure learned quick and my god don't they do it well. I remember seeing one of the predecessor's to these laid up for repairs, late 1970's early 80's, and even for someone who's familiar with large ships, they are truly awesome, mindblowing. The effect that their crew on shore leave has on the local economy and women is similarly huge. I like the yanks they're a lot of fun, although good luck in Portsmouth, should have gone to Liverpool for a proper night out they'd never forget.
Us Americans love you Brits. Our closest ally. Glad to see you're back in the Carrier business as well.
@@scoobiedoo2517well, our closest ally if you maybe don’t count Canada. But I count Canada more as a brother - we have our differences but we have WAY more in common than we are different. But we do love our UK brothers/sisters as well - such strong ties of fellowship and shared dreams. 🤗🇺🇸♥️🇬🇧
More likely a night out they'd never remember! 🍻
These ARE sailors, after all. A port call you have keen memories of is a missed opportunity. (In my U.S. city, last call is at 4am.)
Bravo Zulu, USS Ford!
Can you imagine any country stupid enough to wanna fight the US and GB in a conventional fight?
As someone who served in the US Navy it's not lost on me that literally almost everything we do is based off British seamanship. Of course we deviated a little bit. We still call a water fountain a scuttlebutt. We call bathrooms the head. That's from days of sailing ships. The fourth of July is coming up. One reason I'm so proud that we won that war. Make no mistake. We shouldn't have. We won due to the fact there was more British incompetence than American ingenuity. We got lucky and you all know. Yet here we are the best of allies. We need to have respect for one another.
As Clarkson would say, "What a machine!!!"
Power but no speed
@@chriswalford9228 40+ knots(classified) is no speed? lol

Coming into town. 🙂
A town coming into town! 🙂
Haha I love it!
I can't imagine how big that ship is in person. It looks massive compared to the tug boats even cruise liners from other videos.
It takes roughly 450 sailors to fully man the rails. The biggest and baddest
Cruise ships are bigger, just sayin..
@@philipgates988 Ohh no doubt, there are some massive oil liners as well but for a warship nothing compares. We aren't talking about some hollow or container ships with nothing but mass. It isn't the biggest ship to ever exist but it is still massive. 4000 plus sailors live on that ship for months at a time.
Floating city!... awesome 👍
Canada is very fortunate to have a friend called AMERICA
We're fortunate to have Canadians as our neighbors and friends.
I was on the shore in the pouring rain today , what a beautiful sight , Thanks for visiting us .
You simply cannot appreciate just how big this mother is unless your right next to it , even then its unbelievable
I see the new john F Kennedy another Ford class carrier everyday while it's being finishing up at Huntington Ingalls shipyard
The mother ship. Gotta love it. 👍
I've not seen a Ford-class, not even a Nimitz, but just the CV that is the USS Intrepid blows your mind, just the construction of the things. I know that it was often said that the Space Shuttles were the most complicated machines ever built, but if they shade an aircraft carrier ...
@@UtilityCurve I was aboard the USS Intrepid carrier / museum while she visited the Philadelphia Naval Base back in the late 70's. My dad was stationed there from 68' when he came home from Vietnam, to 82? when he retired after 21 years.
100,000 tons of displacement. The ship is a beast
That's a whole bunch of American whoop ass in one place!
Well the escorts will get a boost in trade this week then
The F18 on the deck you showed was the BLACKLIONS, vf-213. My brother served with vf-213 for 3 tours on the Kittyhawk to the Vietnam coast during the war, they flew F4 Phantoms then, a great Squadron.
VFA-213. VFs ceased to exist when the Tomcat was retired.
@@AA-xo9uw The black lions are still the BLACKLIONS.
@@kevinmarsh8922 I'm well aware of that. Obviously you aren't aware of the fact that fleet VFs became VFAs.
@@AA-xo9uw Why are you hassling me.
You a pilot ?
Real shame The harbour is too shallow to get her moored dockside, would be an awesome sight seeing her right next to HMS Victory and M.33.
Too shallow? They had to choose this port for a reason. Which ports would have been better? Just curious. I literally want to know I'm not being weird or aggressive. I for one think it should have docked properly but who knows the reasons why.
@@davidurban7346 Portsmouth harbour is to shallow for American Carriers, so they cant bring them into the naval yard like UK carriers. They have to moore them out in the solent. In the UK I don't think there is a Military port that can support the Draft of the US carrier fleet. Which as i said is a real shame cause having them moor up next to Victory or M.33 would have made some great pictures.
That is one hell of a gigantic aircraft carrier 👍👍👍
And when the construction of the remainder are completed, ten more just like her.
It sounded like macho swagger hokum when I read that U.S. presidents, when things get heated around the world, start their Sir Room briefings by asking, "Where is the nearest carrier?"
I was naive and just plain wrong.
And may be the smallest carrier in the class. The JFK is longer than the Ford.
Fantastic video, thanks for sharing
They were talking about building her about the time I got out in the late 90's. She turned out to be a beauty indeed!
Need the imperial march sound track playing.
1st mission at sea, AWESOME!

Next time they should bring that war machine to Plymouth. Us Devonshire people would love to see it!
God Bless America and its Allies!!!!!!!
Bleedin massive that vessel...
People in Portsmouth saying... Oh that's what a real aircraft carrier looks like! And it actually has AIRCRAFT!!
Haha. Give the Brits some slack. The QEII is perfectly fine for what it’s being ask to do for RN. I rather have QEII by the Ford’s starboard than nothing at all.!
Those E-2Ds with te refueling probes look wicked.
*Awesome*
Awesome! 😲😲😲😲
we visited portsmouth in 84' on the USS Sumpter LST 1181, coming back from NATO exercise in Norway, part of 4th Marine Amphibious Brigade
Thank you.
Love the way it’s so dirty and used, obviously clocking up loads of time at sea, training or in action scaring the shit out of hostile nations
Them watching us, us watching them lol, miss this, a little surprised no F18's have visited Lakenheath
I grew up in the 60's in awe of my uncle Jack who flew the F4 phantom in Vietnam. When I was in 1st grade in Boston we'd stand and pledge allegiance to the United States of America every morning, I was taught about how my city fought for the freedoms I'm fortunate to have today. I'm beyond grateful for the service men and women who serve today and ones who served in the past, much blood was spilled for the freedom and rights I have.🇺🇲🙏

What a monster!
It's hard to believe that a piece of plutonium the size of a baseball can power this giant thing for 25yrs without refuelling
The A1B reactors (two onboard) use U235 as the fissile material. Something about neutrons, etc., that make uranium preferable in a nuclear pile that is not supposed to go "boom." Not that plutonium can't be used in a power-generating reactor, but it's relatively rare in the world.
Plutonium is the much preferred special sauce for weapons, requiring (as you observe) scandalously little to light off. (And I think, nuclear weapons designers may have to correct me, the neutrons released by plutonium fission are more, um, "useful" to trigger the fusion reaction in the Teller-Ulam design (which is the most deranged thing I have ever imagined--using an atomic explosion to trigger, in milliseconds, an even bigger, badder nuclear detonation).
Solar, wind, nuclear. That's the triumvirate of the future. I wish geothermal were more practical, but alas ...
God bless Hyman Rickover, there's never been an accidental release of radiation not only from his beloved subs, but the carriers, either.
Uranium,just highly enriched.
Its uranium not plutonium
plutonium has similar energy but its only useful for weapons not long term reactors
The Ford's reactor is far powerful because its designed to be future proof
The USN goal is the additional of 1MW laser weapons able to fire as fast the shell based 20mm CIWS but at long ranges and able to engage any target
That and other technology needs a lot of power
@@verdebusterAP I love the information thank you 👍🏴

Beautiful craft! Welcome to England. 👍
That is one gigantic MFer of a ship. I heard it carries more firepower than the militaries of most *countries* . You don't want to screw with it
I'll bet that ship never gets threatened by Samoli pirates.
They have actually attacked us Navy vessels. Specifically one of our dock vessels, the Ashland.
Those are the ones with the flight deck on the back covered in helicopters and v22 ospreys and a bay full of amphibious landing craft with between 300 and 500 troops.
Her escorts would have a word if they even tried 🙌
Funny, they say it can do 30 knots when it can do double that. For short periods.

Why don’t you try and be isolated from the world out at sea for 3 weeks and see if you would want your phone then
@@anonzr5387 but its so easy to spy and give away the secrets of the ships location and weapons etc
@@blakespower It’s impossible to hack or tamper with cellphones when they are out of service in the middle of the Atlantic. There is a reason why they don’t have wifi aboard so finally logging into society after weeks of isolation is understandable
A ship with actual air wings on it oh so that's what carrier looks like --it seems so long since the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm operated with sizeable air wings
Just showed up for some fish and chips!
That carrier is so advanced it'll still be around - and still effective in its ever-evolving iterations - a century from now. It is incredible. It should be called a "hypercarrier".
The "hyper carrier" title might saved for what is coming in 2027
The British Empire had its dreadnought battleships -we have our aircraft carriers.

LO ÚLTIMO EN TECNOLOGÍA NAVAL Y SUPER-PORTAVIONES...UNA OBRA DE INGENIERÍA.
I believe that the $13 billion price tag for that carrier is only one days US government spending.
There are numerous people that say all the aircraft are unloaded before making port but clearly that doesn’t seem to be the case
Those are external fuel tanks.
Retired US Navy Quartermaster here. Who's idea was it to fly the White Ensign (1) from the flagstaff and (2) under the US ensign? A courtesy flag should be flown from the yards and another nation's flag should not be flown below ours unless it came from a captured enemy vessel. The command and the QM Division in particular need to learn flag etiquette.
I remember back in the '70s when we were at gitmo doing a Shakedown with the Nimitz.
The Ford class is a hell of a machine just one thing I don't understand is why is it showing rust through the paint this fast Ingles must be using some crappy paint now.
The deck crew is going to be painting all the time.
Lol
Our navy is using paint that does turn pink after long exposure to the sun. Which is some what of an issue in the Atlantic pacific etc lol. She’s been tested hard. She will have a rough service life with lots of use. They are not just for show.
No more lead based paint.
EVERY other country in the WORLD can dream !!!!! This carrier just oozes !!!! right who wants a Fight then !!!!!! are you sure you want a fight

It shows what the US think let her dock here

Nice ship but honestly in a high threat environment how long can it survive? But still good for power projection in low threat areas so the question is do you down size and build more of them or do you go with these big ships?
They don't travel by themselves. They have an entire battle group who's main purpose is to protect the carrier.
The US tried sinking one of its old carriers with torpedoes and bombs. Took weeks and it still wouldn't go down even with no one on board doing damage control. Finally the old ship was sunk when they sent in a demolition team to place explosives in specific spots on the ship. They're pretty sturdy it seems even without all of the help they would get in such a scenario.
It's called a carrier battle group. Good luck getting close to it in actual combat conditions.
The sinkex of USS America, after 4 weeks of gun and missile attack couldn't be sank until EOD set explosives on board inside the ship to finally sink it. Plus you don't even know what your commenting about. The escort ships/sub in the battle group have hundreds of defensive missiles and the carrier has enhance seaparrow and rolling airframe missiles, along with bk1B CIWS phalanx. And in hostile environments Zebra/ mod zebra is set throughout the ship. And to top it off Combat air patrol in sectors.
