I have been posting on RUclips for just 3 weeks. The results have far surpassed my expectations. Here are my thoughts after less than a month as a new creator.
I live in Central PA and have found artifacts. I love your videos I also love exploring but I can't tolerate the cold too well so watching your videos cheer me up a little
I like that you're periodically signing in, indoors. This strengthens your outdoor videos. I love that you're discussing the dynamic between your everyday tasks in life, energy level, the energy it takes to improve content and delivery and technical logistics. Musicians and philosophers appreciate this.
Your excitement and commitment are evident . Immense gratitude. Again. And again. The time you are taking, to bring this to the rest of us, especially during these times… Gratitude.
You are so authentic and natural.. of course you are getting this positive attention! I am sure others agree, you are interesting, charismatic, and SO knowledgeable of our Delco history. Keep going! You are adored! 💖💖
Congratulations on your success! We love history especially when you use to live there or still do. Your very relatable. I like your videos just as they are. All the fancy intros we skip past that in other people videos. There's a Baptist church that was part of my grandfather's property that he gave to the community for there church way back in his time he had a daughter named Annika who married John Sunderland and they had tomb stone made in England brought over on a ship and the Baptist church moved the tomb stones inside the church and I believe they stood them up and attached them to a wall.and this all took place in the late 1600's to early to mid1700's
Well congratulations! Your first video popped up on my feed and I have been hooked on all your videos. I am a retired music teacher, violinist, guitarist and history buff. When I retired, I began to research my family history. Your material is right up my alley of interest. Keep posting. Yeah, a little more research before you start videoing. Keep it raw. That makes it awesome. Stay safe! More cat!!! Play guitar for us!
Thank you so much for the encouragement. Means a lot. Great to have a music teacher and musician in the audience! We'll see about those guitar vids.. but for now I'll definitely focus on the local history. Glad you're enjoying my channel so far.
You are so refreshingly honest, real and humble. It is a wonderful thing. I love taking walks with you via your videos and exploring local history that is rarely spoken of. History is an amazing topic and I hope this project continues to work well for you! As a Historian, I love these little tidbits of historical locations, and the interplay between Native Americans and the early colonists. Great content!!!! ❤
Another great video Sean, take your time, its just going to get better. I love the Native American spots and history, don't give the locations, and be safe out there, remember the Ancestrial Birds are watching over you. Your channel name is perfect and the reason behind it. Good luck on your channel, on your way to a million subscribers! Your a natural on camera. Remember, we are with you every step!!
Seeing you film the signs on the Darby Creek trail really touched me. I walk this trail, and when I see graffiti or a lot of dirt on those signs, I go back home and come back with my little bucket and scrub brush and solvents. We old timers remember when this area was used as a garbage dump. We remember when Hurricane Floyd pushed a 15-foot-high wall of water down the path you're treading. And we can tell you about the coyote and the beaver and the trees that are now planted on the flood plain there. I love the idea of a story arc, this area reveals itself little by little. That's what revisiting is for, because as you say, time on-site is limited.
Alot of us would like to do this kind of thing. We just don't follow thru,or know what to say,or do. We support your effort if nothing else. Congratulations. And don't worry, the trolls will come out,lol
I liked seeing the spots and am hoping to hear more real facts and observations of the indigenous peoples and paths in delco. I would also like to see you walk with a historical expert to get some banter going with less guessing on certain facts. Keep going.
Hi, we're waiting for you! You almost found me already, and I am here to help. Come visit. I think you are ready. (You almost, but not quite, saw my house in the Queen's burial vid.) I've got an idea keep things fresh but improve content: revisit the site, I will walk with you. Ask a question or two. Our job as old folks is to walk with you and listen and not feel compelled to tell everything that's rattling around in our heads. Thank you also for telling us what you need (battery etc.) so we may be able to help, rather than pile additional demands on you.
I grew up in a woodsy area of CT and can relate to the colonial, native, and nature related subject matter you cover. As a disabled senior now living in NYC I can't get out into nature any more and it's nourishing to watch your walks in the woods and surrounding environs. I'm also a huge history freak so that appeals to me. Plus, it's refreshing to find a down to earth intelligent articulate individual amongst the shrill over the top "content creators" out there. Re improvements...an intro and outro doesn't hurt. It provides continuity in terms of bookending. The tech aspect def makes a difference in the quality of the presentation. Anything you can do to improve that would be a boon. I agree that it's beneficial to focus the channel contentwise. And better to post less often but make higher quality videos. I suggest picking a certain day of the week to upload. A lot of popular channels do that and folks look forward to tuning in. Anyway...best of luck to you and congrats on your early success!
Okay number 1 always put YOU and your day job first !! we can wait for new vids especially when its only 8 degrees outside! LOL! Okay Let me share a story with you... Back in the day I would get to the Philly native center in center city Philly. It WAS the UAIDV or united american indians of the delaware valley at 2nd and chestnut. That band or group has dissolved. WELL, inside in a back room they had a HUGE Philly map with all the original native names. Philly is Coaquannock and the area's I came from that were listed and are the current neighborhood names of wissingnoming and wingehocking. That elated me to see those names in current use! CAN you find that for our local areas or around DelCo? Keep up the great work and yes I have me eyes open for the red fox with the white tip tail !! 🕺
Enjoying your content, character, and all around refreshing personality. A true breath of fresh air! Sixth generation Pennsylvanian here…colonizer to be exact… Living in Seattle now. Really enjoying your POV, love of land, not to mention your Grace. Immense gratitude. 🙏🏼✨❤️🔥🥰
The fact that you mentioned that you think you could’ve been a high school teacher, and enjoyed it! That is a special human being, right there!!! For what it’s worth, I’m quite sure you would’ve been a fantastic high school teacher!
I just found your channel a few days ago, and I really enjoy it! Its nice to see a local history channel. Appreciate all your hard work and effort! And look forward to seeing your channel grow! 😎
Congrats on over 700 subscribers already! One of your videos popped into my stream last week for the first time and, after watching for 2 minutes I subscribed and liked it. Now I'm catching up on what I missed since you started the channel. I live in Lancaster, PA, previously in southern New Jersey and New York City, so some of the history is familiar to me. You keep saying you're not a historian, but you have a lot of knowledge and a great, relaxed way of sharing it. Looking forward to more. But I wish you'd wear a hat in this cold weather (that's the mom in me!!!) Can't wait till you get out there in spring. Thanks much! Ignore the negative comments, some people don't have a life! Have you visited local Historical Societies in the area for research? If people want to find where you recorded, they can do their own research. Okay, had to edit my comment. Please show the awesome cat in any indoor videos. HA!
Our local swedish cabin will be a good video and there is a waterfall about half a mile south of the cabin !! I lived there in drexel hill for a spell and remember coming out when it was 8 degrees and hearing the darby stream 'crackle' from the ice !! 👀
Being born and raised in Delaware County and as a student of history I really appreciate your hard work. Love to give you some local suggestions on topics.
@@solguud getting to work at rt 202 and rt 1 in concordville I pass through 3 stream valley's with finally the concordville mall web page listing they are on Lenape land....hint hint !
If you get copies of historic maps, they may guide you to other old trails and colonial roadways, that may still be in use as modern roads. Maps from the 19th century often correlate very well with topo maps.
I really like that you don’t have a dumb musical introduction, I like when people just say hello and goodbye. The only thing that I can say to help your videos is to watch your noise level like in this video we can hear some noises from you moving or touching something, but it’s not a big deal. I wear ear phones so maybe the noise is louder using them.
I can’t keep up with the pace of your content coming out. I don’t know how you ended up on my feed, but I live down the road in Delaware, the state. maybe when you run out of stuff to talk about in Delco you can make your way down here and visit us
You remind me of the chiller delco "philly captain". If you dont know him look up his videos. He'll go to historical site through philly and drops little nuggets to of interesting knowledge
It's not about you. It's that there is interesting history in Delco. If fact if I could criticize your new channel it's that your content is a selfie stick mostly pointed at yourself; not the history you're walking through.
That's an excellent point. But it is partly about him, and in a significant way. He's a real human being with a face and a personality and not an ai narration that just sounds like a robot and mispronounces words.
