    Multicrew finally being a viable option in PVP will change everything. Seeing massive capital ship brawls will generate a massive amount of hype for the game and im all for it. I think CIG just needs to fix ramming, since zerg orgs can just ram big ships to completely nullify them.

      I think not... when ship armor comes out, the polaris is just a torp boat.

    I like my Polaris. My nephew and I were going to use it as a home base. Unfortunately my nephew has a terminal disease and he won’t be playing much with me anymore. We just loved exploring and going like research and investigation jobs. I will miss him playing. I may see if I can join an org. I have been playing this game for about 4 years and he was always playing. I live I South Carolina and he lives in Indiana. I may try to join a nice org. I have a few other ships and ccu’ed my way to a Polaris. I still own the Zeus and the Al max as well as a couple more. I don’t know how to join an org or what is required of me. My main gripe with the Polaris is there’s barely any signage that indicates what’s behind each door or down each hallway. In a hectic MP combat where many players might not know the ship layout well but need to get to a specific station quickly, I see this creating unnecessary problems

      One could make the argument that not signing things up would be the safer way, enemies are more likely to not know the layout of a ship, compared to the crew. Don't forget, usually people will be on their own ships, and have spent a fair bit of time on them

    • @sinepilot
      @sinepilot 2 месяца назад

      @@MrJalasKelm The signage is not for the person that owns the ship. The signage is for the crew. I don't think the risk of raiders outweighs the need for your crew, during combat, to find their turrets, engineering stations, medbays, escape pods, armory and elsewhere quickly, esp in a non-org situation where many of your crew are unfamiliar hands-for-hire. If it's a solo ship or not nearly as huge as a capital ship then yeah who cares about signage.

    Seeing actual capital ships in this reminds me of how much of a force multiplier they were for Industrial jobs in EVE, especially mining. A Corp/Org/Guild running an Orca in that with even 2 or 3 miners would shoot up the operation by a ton, especially with someone running back and forth from the station and the Orca. And the Rorq was even more so in low or null sec space.
    What I am getting at is, I will be REALLY interested to see how Industrial capital ships in Star Citizen affect things.

      100%. Even now, just comparing a Reclaimer and Vulture, or to a lesser degree a Mole and Prospector gives some indication of it. But just imagine the difference between a Prospector and an Arrastra.
      I've been running a Reclaimer lately and bringing in about 1.5 million credits per salvage operation. Vulture would need 15 - 20 trips to carry the same amount of material. Not to mention that with the current salvage mechanics, a Vulture would just destroy about 500k credits worth of the construction mats.

    My one and only complaint is I cannot spawn it with a desired loadout so whenever the server eats it I’m forced to spend hours re-stocking my ship with vehicles, ships, suits, guns and consumables. PLEASE CIG make a feature where we can pay more to claim a loadout when we claim our ship. The Polaris was insane to play with even for phase 1 Save Stanton. And it has so much possibility for multi-crew. You already require 9 people (1 pilot, 2 Missile operators, 6 turret gunners) to maximize the output of the ship, then we have a minimum of 6 additional personel when other systems come online (engineering, ship boarding, ammo reloading).
    For reference, this is:
    - 1 Pilot (flight)
    - 1 Co-pilot (s10 missile reloading)
    - 6 turret gunners
    - ~2-3 engineers
    - 3 Anti-boarding personal (security)
    - 2 Missile operators (s3 and s10)
    That is nearly 15 crew members to have nearly maximum effectiveness based on the known multi-crew gameplay. Absolutely amazing, especially for a ship as OP as the Polaris.

    I mean, and if this is a surprise to anyone, then they obviously had no clue what game they were getting themselves into 😅
    Fighters, we're never going to be the meta for long.. Endgame was always going to be fleets of capitals going at each other. They made it very clear years ago that they want the loss of a ship to be extremely difficult and extremely painful. Right now, the game is neither of those. With the introduction to capital ships on this level, and they're only going to start getting bigger and stronger. Moving forward The game's true vision is slowly starting to poke its head out, and players are going to have to start getting used to the fact that flying around in these small and medium ships. Taking people out does not something you're going to be able to do that often.. Not less, you're going after miners and hollers. 😂

    PDCs wreck torpedoes, easily. Bespoke front turret is...not great. Enemies can shoot through the hangar door and destroy your ship in the hangar, even with your shields up. The medical bay is more bare bones than the Nursa, there isn't even a marking on the door saying "Medical." The Captain's Quarters are still locked. It has a hover, floating in the air enter way off the side of the ramp, you can't reach the entrance buttons. It doesn't want to store with ships in it, it'll glitch out and you'll have to claim it, so don't leave anything inside of it. The hologlobe is non-functional. It's not even on, like in the Carrack. The Vulture does not fit in the hangar, even if you tilt it down to get the prongs in first, the glitches and gets stuck onto the floor. You can't even back it out. Instead of having the best view, you sit to the left or right. The center seat is for the Captain, which does nothing other than have two MFDs. The torpedo operator is not on the bridge, it's a level down. I can understand, sort of, the pilot not controlling torpedoes, but there's no reason to have the operator away from the bridge, or at least have both locations. It's a remote turret, it can be on the bridge. Docking, and you'll need to dock in space, is very jank. There's more, but I don't remember off the top of my head.
    The Polaris has a long way to go.

    • @Mindbulletz
      @Mindbulletz 2 месяца назад

      There are issues. Your points are valid. However, two of them require refutation.
      The Polaris is a fantastic Vulture carrier for its size. You need to face the Vulture forks toward the elevator end of the hangar for it to fit. And turn off Proximity Assist 100% of the time in Star Citizen (now conveniently in the settings MFD). If that still doesn't work for you, then the unfortunate answer is that you need to practice your piloting, as it's only a skill issue at that point. It works exceedingly well for being a feature that exists within Star Citizen, and I'm no Hybrid V Audio, landing expert.
      The torpedo operator will be more controversial of a topic as time passes, I'm sure. It being primarily in the torpedo room makes a lot of gameplay sense, so that the operator can load as well as fire if you're running a thin crew. It also makes gameplay sense from a balance standpoint to make it harder for the pilot to ghost ride and go fire torpedoes. It does not make narrative or Cool Factor sense, which CIG cares about almost over anything else, so we'll see if it gets updates. I don't care either way since I don't want to use it in combat most of the time, I want to use it as a substitute for the Liberator and I have never fired one of its torpedoes.

    my gripe with bigger ships (100m and more) is that once all sorts of systems will come in you won't be able to use them anymore as a solo player simply because there is no crew AI and you won't be able to make the funds necessary to even maintain the ship, basic refueling alone will cost fortunes and when you can't simply destroy and reclaim the ship anymore it will be ugly.
    and i blame CIG because they supported the notion that yes indeed big ships will be viable for solo players because they will have ai systems in place that manage the whole maintenance work.
    now those people who bought big ships (and i think the majority who bought these ships planned to be the only real player in them) are fucked. Imagine spending thousands in ships only to end up with not affording to take them out of the hangar and instead just grind with your 30-40m starter.
    its not yet a major issue because everyone still can rp with their big ships since you dont have to run around them and do stuff to maintain them. But once all this stuff comes in, shit will hit the fan.

They disagreed because they Said it feels like a medical bay on a military ship. I disagree, but the reason I even brought it up is because walking around the ship I would not have known it was not just another room. It literally looks like a copy of the brig. How about at least writing medical or infirmary on the door so that you can tell that's what it is instead of needing to use a mini map. New players or guests on your ship are not going to know that's what it is and considering CIG wants us to be able to walk around without armor on we are not going to have a mini map available always. I'm just giving critical thoughts and I don't know why it always rubs everyone the wrong way to hear something negative about a thing they love, but I want the entire game to be better. There are many other things about the Polaris that I know will get fixed, but that seems to just be something they carelessly made boring. Like it's not important. Scenario 1 (mercenary group): A cargo freighter is hauling some VERY valuable cargo for a high-profile client. Said client hires your merc group to protect the freighter from pirates. You have to jump into the system with a Kraken loaded with fighters and another capital ship with heavy weapons (Idris?) to protect the freighter.

A capital ship is able to do long(er) range operations on its own if necessary, while also have a distinct place in a larger fleet compliation.
