Yes it works very well! If you give it enough light and don't feed excessively, the plants are enough to suck up all the excess nutrients in the water. So your water will be very clean, but partial water changes every so often are still recommended to add trace minerals back into the tank.

I can’t make one of those because I live in Canada so the water would freeze unless take it inside and wait until it’s spring or something
