It's great to see a video like this! I have flown ~70 times in 2024 (70% for work, 30% for vacation) and I have flown Delta, United, Southwest, Hawaiian, and Spirit. In terms of price, Southwest seemed to be the best bang for buck as their seats have been upgraded on most planes, easy to fall asleep. Prices inter-island are usually $29-$50 for a one way ticket (I live on Maui). I took Spirit from Las Vegas to Burbank one-way and for just $38 I was able to upgrade to "Spirit Big Comfy Seat" and I must add that it was well worth the upgrade. Unlimited snacks and drink (alcohol too!), seat was comparable to a Delta/United First Class seat (non-bed one) and the flight cost was $90+$38. I managed to get 3 drinks down before they said initial descent meaning no more drink/food service. If Southwest flew everywhere I would take that airline 99% of the time. Granted I have about ~50 flights in 2024 with them so I am guaranteed A group boarding. I would fly Spirit, but only if it was a last resort option and only if Big Comfy seat was available. I take Delta to go back to visit family for the Holidays and that's the only airline that flies into my hometown so kind of limited in that aspect. Regardless, life's too short not to have a boarding pass in your hand!
Hey Jeb! I’m curious, what are your thoughts on the new Delta cabin they announced a few days ago? I’m very excited. I would LOVE to see you do a review of the first flight of it on the 757-200 later this year. Great video! Keep Climbing! ❤️
They look very fresh, my only concern is they look to be using the newest Recaro seats in economy. I’ve flown in similar seats on a few other airlines and they’re so thick, they eat into your personal space quite a bit. Not just in leg and knee room, but the seat back is like very close to your face. 😂
My 1 experience with Spirit was unusually good in '16 when my brother and I went to Vegas. It checked off all of the boxes in having complete control of the travel experience. All that was wanted was a decent seat, good crew and a reasonably well maintained airplane. I use and support LCC's elsewhere and in the US, I try to go mostly by Amtrak. The Shiny Happy People can have the top level most expensive seats on any airline.
Call me old fashioned but for $3000 I could get soooooo many more trips and if I prefer to ‘upgrade’ I can book the front seats on spirit and spend a couple hundred bucks for food or lounge access. Unless I probably had $10 mil in the bank 😂. Sorry I am so frugal. Its ok to indulge though!
Plus lounges aren't all made equal. I recently splurged on a business class flight (with Air Canada) and the lounge (in Montreal) was okay but overcrowded at the time I went and not really worth it to me. My last flight, I debated between flying Spirit and Southwest and ended up picking Southwest because they offered a nonstop flight on my route while flying with Spirit would have required a transfer.
Spot on about the Delta LAX-JFK experience. The service and amenities are top notch as always, but the interior of their 763 D1 product would benefit from a refresh. Especially on such a premium route.
That Delta One lounge is such game changer for Delta but it took them so long to bring it out. I’m glad it’s finally here though! They just need to be consistent with their seats now 😭 But also great video as always!
Spirit can be a great option despite having such a negative reputation, I found that while service at the airport could see improvements, once onboard the crew is very friendly and professional.
there is an alternative. fly southwest. many fairs are $100 even for a direct flight . we fly from bdl to tpa 2 to 3 times a year . where as delta cost about $400 plus . not everyone has the money to spend $2000 round trip for 2 people .
You can fly roughly the same experience on Delta across the country length wise if you look for the first class tickets on 767-300/400ER (LAX-HNL is a common route) for a fraction of the price.
I have flown on a 767-300 similar to this from JFK to Seattle, but it was retrofitted to some extent. Its version is known as the 76K (the newest version). The aircraft was N178DZ delivered in 2000. It included 3 rows of Premium Select. The Delta One seats received new looks, but lacked the updated IFE screen. But as long as it has content for me to watch, I’m good.
Great video! Where this would get a lot more interesting imho is comparing the most and least expensive economy seats. Bc something tells me the price difference is still a lot, despite the differences dwindling
My favorite part of the video is the change of music between Delta and Spirit. I was half expecting to hear the Tik Tok sound bite of a women saying “ahhh! The ghetto” 😂
I have never had an issue flying Spirit relatively speaking. The crew have always been great, and the overall experience is not bad. Apart from some unusual delays here and there, I’ve never really had a reason to complain. I usually fly with them due to the route I take doesn’t have a layover with Spirit, rather than other airlines have long layovers in other cities. I guess I just value my time differently
For several years, I had premium/first class status on Alaska/Horizon, which granted me access to the lounges. 99% of the time I flew between Boise, Seattle, and Portland, OR. Boise didn't have a lounge, but that was fine. I left at 7:00 a.m. I would fly into Seattle, check into the lounge, grab a bit of brunch, check my email, then board the air shuttle to PDX. I would stop in at that lounge, once again check my email (this was all business travel) and maybe grab a pastry as I headed for the gate. On the way home on the same day, everything in reverse, only going home, adult beverages were involved. Then one day, I had to travel to EWR (Newark, NJ). I had a couple of hours to kill before my ride picked me up (I was on a redeye between the west and east coast of the U.S.). So I went into the lounge and was stunned! They had showers, beds, food, drink, everything! In hindsight, now that I know more, I should have grabbed a shower and a nap in one of the small cot rooms. Instead, I imbibed because my doctoral classes didn't start until the next morning, and I wasn't driving.
This has been a cute video. Love the message. Just a note. We took a DeltaA350 from LAX to ATL. Was so glad to see those flat seats!!! Slept all the way to the A!
Wow, that Delta flight, what a let down for $3K! That really surprised me, and as usual another great video from you both. I so look forward to your videos!!!
Personally, Delta hasn't been wowing me lately. I flew from Des Moines to LaGuardia recently and that plane has the dirtiest, most beat up interior I've seen on any airline. It was not good.
Delta has taken a nosedive since COVID. No other way to put it. For example, I flew with them from Atlanta to Europe in 2022 and the experience was abysmal. 2023 and 2024 haven't proven to be much better. In fact, I've now come to prefer United. *Yes, United.* Ultimately, though, no US carrier can hold a candle to many carriers from Asia, the Middle East, and even Oceania and Europe.
I flew Spirit a couple of days ago, and went with 'Go Comfy'. The middle seat is blocked so you won't have anyone sitting next to you. Included 1 checked bag. 1 carry on, and 1 personal item ; as well as a drink and snack. PLUS you're boarding group 2. I thought it was great.
Great video! It seems you spent 50 USD for flight and additional 500 USD for other expenses in Spirit options. It means their marketing strategy is working.
I am reminded of two things watching this. 1. An old movie called Freejack where even the bodies of those meant to be dead were for sale to the wealthy. 2. The Cat Woman quote from The Dark Knight Rises. "There's a storm coming, Mr. Wayne. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us." Watching somebody drop twice the monthly salary of some of the front line workers in the service and customer service industry in this country on a six hour flight complete with gourmet everything seems like something that's almost obscene to watch let alone participate in. I mean seriously the med techs and phlebotomist who draw your blood for labs barely make enough after taxes for one person to take that flight in a month to say nothing of two people doing it.
I'll be running a version of this challenge myself soon. I haven't flown a ULCC before, but Delta out and Spirit back was both cheaper and actually a lot more convenient for my schedule than any other combination. This is a shorter trip (BOS-FLL/MIA) and it's "only" Delta's Domestic First and not Delta One, so the base Spirit fare was only ten times less expensive than the Delta flight. And I splurged for the "comfy" seat package with the blocked center seat so that brings Spirit up to a little more than three times less expensive. But it's still a bargain that will get me home smoother than Delta could on that timetable. At least, I hope I'll think so after I'm done.
Fly Alaska. You'd get lounge access (only airline to give lounge access with a first class ticket), a comfortable seat, pleasant crew and staff, reasonable ticket prices. For so much more, you'd pay a little less.
Only airline to give lounge access with a first class ticket...if you're flying transcon or to Hawaii. Shorter than that, you do get a half-price discount on a day pass. Came in handy for me changing planes at PDX and using the Alaska Lounge there.
I've flown all the major airlines (not first class, though) and only recently tried out Spirit a few times. As long as you know what you're getting yourself into beforehand and arrive prepared, Spirit is a great option. They get you from point A to B for a fraction of the cost, and if you prep properly, you can still enjoy the snacks and entertainment you love (bring them with you). The idea of paying exorbitantly more of an experience that isn't THAT much nicer than Spirit seems crazy to me now. That being said, Spirit can get very expensive if you're not careful. Also, their seats get uncomfortable after the first 2 hours or less, so you have to readjust yourself every like 30 minutes (or just wear really comfy clothes to help).
My usual experience at the gate during boarding- Gate agent: “Ladies and gentleman if we have not called your boarding group to the gate yet please remain in your seats and do not crowd the gate area and block the main concourse through the terminal” All 100-200 passengers: “Hey guys let’s bum rush the gate and stand there in an unorganized blob and block the whole terminal”
Turn the neck pillow around so that the open part is behind your head. It gives you more pillow space to lean and your head isnt pushed away from the seat cushion
Another sensational video. You did make it hard to decide which airline to choose though.🤔🤔 Come and try some Aussie domestic flights. We get Spirit service for Delta price here since Covid. Love your stuff guys.
That burger dripping hard. Also looking into flying business to Europe at some point down the road. I always like to check what kind of plane it is first just to get an idea before I get on. I do the same thing when traveling around the US. However we have one a350 from Atl to LA
I was blessed enough to get upgraded to comfort plus on on A350 from DTW to LAX and was wondering what you thought about the over the ear headphones Delta provides?
Fun vlog as always Jeb I hate to say it though Delta has become excessively expensive especially in comfort plus and domestic first Hate being shoved in the aisle Your $50 lunch did not look worth it
That seat did look disappointing. That said, I have found that Delta are much better than they used to be, especially on trans-Atlantic routes. Thanks for your awesome content.
I have a few ideas for your next video ideas: Emirates A380 Business Class, even though you've done first Royal Air Maroc Business Class New Emirates A350 also I like the thumbnails of you just enjoying the flight, makes it seem more authentic
Great vlog as always! The U.S has been a graveyard for airplanes since the dereg act from 1979. I love old aircraft so I do not mind. 727 flying until 2005. DC-9 until past 2010. Keep up the good work. Be safe!
That was a nice walkthrough on the difference. Business class is definitely not worth it unless your employer is buying. Even if you had the means to pay for it and wanted luxury for money, it would be cheaper to fly Spirit + have dinner at the nicest Steakhouse in Beverly Hills + sleep a night at the most luxurious hotel in LA than to buy that Delta One ticket. Delta also needs more of a push to clear out those crumbling 767-300 cabins. They're my favorite US airline, but for that journey I'd probably pick United or JetBlue over them, just because the hard product is so bad.
So tolerate, if not accept, flying becoming a winged Greyhound bus if our travel experience at the destination makes up for it? I was right about aviation becoming nothing more than a means to an end.
Hi Jeb As a Canadian I have flown an airline called Porter. It is a great airline with complimentary snacks and drinks as well as free beer and wine. I highly recommend it. Hope to see you on it one day.

Low-Cost carriers are a blessing as many folks need or want cheaper fares.
I hope they can survive

2. The Cat Woman quote from The Dark Knight Rises. "There's a storm coming, Mr. Wayne. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us."
Watching somebody drop twice the monthly salary of some of the front line workers in the service and customer service industry in this country on a six hour flight complete with gourmet everything seems like something that's almost obscene to watch let alone participate in. I mean seriously the med techs and phlebotomist who draw your blood for labs barely make enough after taxes for one person to take that flight in a month to say nothing of two people doing it.
Always enjoy your comparison videos. Interesting to see the differences especially at the fancy level.
I honestly just watch your videos for the watch game. Never a disappointment on both Jeb and Suzanne's wrists!
I love every one of these. Even though I've never flown any of this stuff if still cool to see how the other half lives😊
Jeb freaking out about a $50 lunch. But he pays for him and his wife to fly the most expensive ticket on Delta. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
great editing Jeb. very easy video to watch!
Awesome! Thank you!
OMG THE BABY HAND ON YOUR SHOULDER!!!😂😂😂😂😂
I love your videos! Thank you for sharing!
My usual experience at the gate during boarding-
Gate agent:
“Ladies and gentleman if we have not called your boarding group to the gate yet please remain in your seats and do not crowd the gate area and block the main concourse through the terminal”
All 100-200 passengers:
“Hey guys let’s bum rush the gate and stand there in an unorganized blob and block the whole terminal”
All the seats in the delta lounge made me chuckle 😂
For $119 you can fly jetBLUE from LA to NYC, which includes free snacks, drinks and entertainment. Plus they have newer, fresher planes.
The Jeb sleeping shot was priceless
Turn the neck pillow around so that the open part is behind your head. It gives you more pillow space to lean and your head isnt pushed away from the seat cushion
I flew Delta 1st class SEA to BOS. Much nicer than what you just showed. The plane was a 757. The food was great,
Thank you! Great comparison. I'll continue to fly cheap domestically.
Another sensational video. You did make it hard to decide which airline to choose though.🤔🤔 Come and try some Aussie domestic flights. We get Spirit service for Delta price here since Covid. Love your stuff guys.
I appreciate your video your go
Into detail about everything from
Number aka prices, comfort and
Is it worth it.
Thank you.
Next time you should do this cheap VS expensive flights to Hawaii and Alaska!
Or even flights in Alaska. I can fly ANC to Hawaii for less than ANC to a rural town in Alaska
I’d show up so early
For the 3k flight
lol, right? We wanted every minute in that lounge!
As someone who always flew spirit and frontier, the experience isn't worth it.
At least do economy on delta. That's what I will do going forward
Fun vlog as always Jeb
I hate to say it though Delta has become excessively expensive especially in comfort plus and domestic first
Hate being shoved in the aisle
Your $50 lunch did not look worth it
That seat did look disappointing. That said, I have found that Delta are much better than they used to be, especially on trans-Atlantic routes. Thanks for your awesome content.
personally delta one suite on the A330-900neo is the best
Agree!👌
This is an awesome video and content.
Please do a comparison between go big and go comfy vs the standard spirit experience
Nice Reverso, Jeb!😏
Spirit Airlines . . . Earl Scheib would be proud!
I have a few ideas for your next video ideas:
Emirates A380 Business Class, even though you've done first
Royal Air Maroc Business Class
New Emirates A350
also I like the thumbnails of you just enjoying the flight, makes it seem more authentic
Great vlog as always! The U.S has been a graveyard for airplanes since the dereg act from 1979. I love old aircraft so I do not mind. 727 flying until 2005. DC-9 until past 2010. Keep up the good work. Be safe!
Back and forth was fun, idk what the other comments are confused by, easy to follow!
Who else loves jeb❤❤
Hey Jeb! Took my first flight as a co pilot and thank you for getting me into aviation. Also what plane is that?
Seeing these prices, I am so happy I work for the company I work for
After he asked, “ which is the better value?” I immediately closed video
Hi Jeb, thanks once again for making me feel poor! 😂😂😂
Your thumbnails keep getting better and better! Keep up the amazing work Jeb!
Trying something a little different, thanks for your feedback!
That baby hand at the end! 😂😂😂
I like how you said, "Is business class worth 50 times the price of this seat? Absolutely not!"
Great video. Definitely do more 'family flights' - those interruptions were hilarious
I'm new here. I love everything you're teaching me, and the great information. Enjoy ☺️
I was right about aviation becoming nothing more than a means to an end.
you have to spend an additional $100 at the chiropractor when you land with spirit, $50 on food, pay a checked back, getting closer on pricing!
🤣
Watching this makes me even more grateful for being a delta employee and appreciate my job more #FlyDelta
Are ya on a first name basis with TSA?🤭🤭 I always enjoy your videos.👍👍
Almost🤣
That Delta layout reminds me of business class on Lufthansa, Swiss, and Austrian..."first world problem" 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so much for flying into BWI! I recently posted a tripreport on Spirit's A320NEO, and I can assure you that the traytables are NOT sturdy.
You’ve inspired me to start charging $1 for massages. 🤣🤣🤣 Love your content and humor.
Hi Jeb
As a Canadian I have flown an airline called Porter.
It is a great airline with complimentary snacks and drinks as well as free beer and wine. I highly recommend it.
Hope to see you on it one day.
Love Porter, we flew it a loooong time ago and you can watch that video here: ruclips.net/video/PokekGdS1k0/видео.htmlsi=fqDY4UEd-bYEVEAT. Would love to try it again on the new E-jets tho!
Thanks for your reply Jeb. My 11 year old is taking over my RUclips account and he wrote that message to you-he’s a huge aviation geek. He’ll be thrilled to see your message!
I need to use the bathroom
Spirit: That will be 20$ plus tax and convenience fee. Tips are also strongly recommended.
Well done seeing a comparison like this. That looks like the same Delta cabin I flew 9 years ago.
I travel alone and dislike sitting 3 across so I’d likely spend more than on Spirit Airlines.
3:16 lol 😂
🤣 thanks for watching!
