Should you consider an Alfa Romeo Stelvio?

  • The Alfa Romeo Stelvio doesn't sell in droves, but that doesn't necessarily mean it isn't a great product. In fact, it is probably one of the most dynamic in the segment. But there are a few quirks here and there that set it back a bit, which is unfortunate because it really has some really excellent points too. I would say, if you are in the market for an alternative model then the Stelvio should make it on your list.

I was looking at the older used models. The thing that I love about Alfa in SA is that they have no second-hand value, unless you buy from Arnold Chatz 😛. So you get a great car at a reasonable price. Next you need to find a decent independent Alfa specialist who is usually as passionate about the brand as you are. The result is many years of happy and relatively affordable and stylish motoring. Few on the road makes the whole experience even more special. Be prepared never to sell it as you'll get nothing for it. 😆

That makes total sense. And as Jeremy Clarkson said, you can't claim to be a gear head and not have owned an Alfa Romeo.

A new Alfa Romeo is 100% out of the question . I would side step Sir Arnold and look for a 2 year old example that has been appropriately looked after at a fraction of the new price , in fact , a VERY GOOD used example with low mileage can be had for 50% and less than the new price .

Competition would be amongst others. the NX and X3. Once you spec up the base model X 3 you can easily exceed 1.2 m. I would probably opt for the NX 350 h with my own money and that one reaches 1.3 m. The reliability of the Europeans is increasingly problematic so don’t think that’s a major point of comparison.

It looks great, and love all the options and their prices for them, would still go for the Porsche macan tho. I don’t know personalization is kind of my thing

From what ive seen, these cars are relatively reliable . Yoyll pay for parts a lot, just like with lexus. But really no need ro worry .the Ferrari engines though ,probably a cause foe concern

The price point really has to convince a non Alfa Romeo buyer to pay that amount for a mid-sized SUV . . .

It's a great car, either way. Sales nr's don't do it justice. If I was in the market, I would get it.
One could always spend a bit more and get the Maserati version 😂😂 ...

The Grecale is R500k more. That's the price of acquiring the Maserati badge. They share the same chassis.

@@julietmcguire I feel stellantis wants to keep maserati and alfa as far away from each other as possible. They purposely limit the interiors of alfas yet both cars are in the same market mostly
