I would like to learn and master the ancient art of drunken fist kung fu
Your mastery of the sword is second to none! I only train with the fighting staff, but my ancestors (Norman Knights), used very similar techniques with a lighter form of the bastard, or hand-and a half long sword, using exactly your method of wielding. I am convinced that the Normans are why they called it "The Bastard." They preferred to wield it one handed, though it had typically a one foot long handle. The handle was often studded, and could be used as an additional blocking and parry mechanism, apart from counter weighting the blade.
Of course, Norman power came primarily from their multi-ethnic mentality, though they were staunchly religious, but they favored mutual integration with Races, and also banned slavery. Naturally it is much easier to wield a sword in this manner when you have a clean conscious! You know, they treat their knights very hard in training, but then they teach them about the Evil's of slavery, so you have the combination of, #1 he's a hard man, and #2 he has a clear conscious.
Naturally though, because of who my ancestors were, I was scared I might dishonor them by taking up the sword, so I train only with the fighting staff, and the long bow.
4:17 I noticed that you pivoted your rear foot/back foot forward to generate more power in your thrust, just as a boxer pivots his rear foot/back foot to generate more power in his cross punch. Great work, and thank you so much for your lessons, Sifu!
