I am a naturopathic herbalist in Australia. Recently I converted our dining room into an Apothecary where I store over 100 herbs, kombucha, kefir, sourdough starter, kvass, glycerites, extracts, sauerkraut, mushrooms, sprouts and other things I am tinkering around with. We pulled most of the plants out of our garden and gave them away then planted over 45 herbs we commonly use to save on money. Much respect to you ❤❤
My favourites are Damiana, Willow Bark, Ashwagandha, Turmeric and Icelandic Moss.

@@badpepsi I outgrew the pantry with my herbs and we were not using the dining room so we pulled the table out and put that in another lounge room. We acquired 2nd hand shelving and other cupboards etc all on free local Facebook groups and over the course of the last 3 months have made it my apothecary and meditation space. It’s beautiful and rustic and all my favourite things are in there. My friends keep their jars and bottles for me in exchange for Booch (kombucha) or teas and it’s the best thing I have ever created.

I am proud of you for learning about herbs/plants for their medicinal properties. My people believe, the plants that grow each season are the plants we will need for medicine for that season. Twice I was prescribed manmade medicine and each time I had a serious reaction so I rely on holistic remedies, have a huge herb garden, and dry, freeze, store the herbs to have on hand when I need them. Fortunately I am healthy, but I use all my herbs, and share them, throughout the year.

After leaving America to my quaint little European village in the sun, I started my garden and built an apothecary in 2023. It continues to grow as I learn about herbs, spices, fruits, oils, etc. that work to prevent and help to heal ailments. Best thing I've ever done and will never rely on pharma or modern doctors and their toxins. Everything I consume is locally sourced, which makes a huge difference to my health and wellness. Thank you for this video, I look forward to taking notes!

@gazoakleychef - if you take the yarrow leaves, dry them then blend using a milling blade until it is powder - this acts as a quick clot for bleeding. Similar to “Quik Clot” that we got issued in the military or “Celox” but those two contain animal products so yarrow has a similar effect but from nature instead. Cayenne pepper can also be used for mild bleeds in the same way. Just powder either into wounds. Yarrow stings less. Just be mindful with any form of quick clot powder of wind direction, which is the main reason the military switched from powder to infused bandage versions. You can carry cayenne powder and yarrow powder in one of those pill keyrings for small emergencies.

    • @suzansh4582
      @suzansh4582 2 минуты назад

So you only sprinkle the powder on a bleeding wound?! Of course not a big one, a knife cut let’s say or a paper cut

Hi Gaz! I highly recommend adding Artemisia annua to your apothecary! Two years ago I had a persistent cough that lasted for weeks that was utterly exhausting (it was so bad that I was coughing blood) until a friend of mine who is a naturopath recommended Artemisia tea a few times a day. In a few days the cough was completely gone. My 79 year-old mother-in-law had c*v*d last year and Artemisia stopped it in its tracks in a few days, it was amazing. I bought Artemisia seeds and I will add to the garden this year.

I have been using mullein for a few years now. I have to an overabundance growing all over my garden so I harvest tons of it. I had something similar to covid and it was trying to get into my lungs. I smoked it and it immediately cleared my lungs and broke up the phlegm! I also grind up dried leaves and put it in tea, as well as take the leaves in capsule form and use the homeopathic version and it is amazing as well. Additionally, I harvest the flowers, dry them and put in olive oil with dried turmeric and make an ear oil. It helps clear inflammation and pain in the ears.
I make elderberry syrup and put them in small ice cube trays and pop one into my first water of the day and take daily.
I am going to try willow bark soon and are how that works instead of synthetic aspirin.
I have echinacea tincture as well.
I have also been using castor oil and it is amazing stuff. Nature knows best!

I know honey is not considered by many as vegan, but it’s good for burns, cuts and is anti-microbial and anti-bacterial.
For the mullein leaf, yes it can be taken in other forms, but when smoked it actually heals the lungs and gets rid of excess mucus.
Many of the herbs you are speaking of in this video are great and yes, oils and teas and tinctures as well as other methods are great for herbs and storage.
For raspberry leaf it has to be red raspberry leaf and it’s good for women in all stages, it’s also used after women have babies in various forms and it helps with the cycle not just the symptoms before or after.

EverClear if you have it, is good, but you have to look at the proof of the alcohol when using tinctures or if you decarboxylate it you need a higher proof alcohol. Some plants are better in oil form as some of the properties come out in fats which alcohols don’t have. The barks tend to work better in teas and tinctures like when doing Mamajuana which would use rum(Brugal which is a different flavor from traditional rum) and red wine, but for curing. The same barks in older recipes were mixed with other ingredients and done as a tea.
If using willow for pain relief sometimes the tea is better like with headaches as the alcohol can worsen the pain, but with other types of pain the tinctures could work.

How do you get valerian not to stink up your whole house? I have it in a double ziplock bag and sealed in a glass jar and I can still smell it! It's so stinky!

Would you please give the latin names of the herbs. The English names give a strange translation. Wish you happy hollidays

Such a shame you cant offer concession rates for your tour to make it accessible for people out of work (for health reasons) :(

I believe the tour is priced extremely reasonably, but I’m sorry if this doesn’t help you
