Summary: 1, Hydrogen: "Pop" sound when taking a flaming splint (matchstick) near the reaction vessel. 2, Oxygen: A "glowing" splint put near the mouth of the reaction vessel, then it will turn out flaming again. 3, Carbon dioxide: Test with lime water, a positive result is turning out a milky solution. 4, Ammonia: Turns red litmus paper to blue. 5, Chlorine: Turns blue litmus paper to red then bleach.
the test for ammonia with Hydrochloric acid is not commonly used due to the product (ammonium chloride) being moderately hazardous hope this helped anyone :)
@@fuseschool Actually today is my chemistry exam. So i just watched actually my teacher told me to watch this. This helped me today even forever Thank you. Keep doing these kinda videos which help students 😊😊😃
Rhea Johnson I hope it isn't too late anyways..yeah they all are chemical reactions. The gases are produced as products. Ammonia from ammonium salts plus acids cause ammonia to be liberated,. Check this www.docbrown.info/page13/ChemicalTests/ChemicalTestsg.htm
but Oxygen is so hard to achieve as most Oxygen made in school labs are so WEAK! I cannot get my splint reignite even if I mixed the correct chemicals! This issue happened to Limewater test, as everything is so diluted. Help!

Ammonia also forms white smoke called ammonium chloride in the presence of hydrochloric acid ......

What has happend to you 10 years later?
Hey it’s been 10 years! Where you at now?
This video was very helpful. I love the graphics. It really helped me to understand the differences between the gases.

THANK YOU!! DID NOT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING UNTIL THIS VID. 😣😉😉
Glad we could help! :-)
Nice! Dumb question but how I do a make a "glowing, not burning" split?
Light it up, then blow it out
I think you extinguish a flaming splint and the embers will glow? Idk
Awesome!!! Should be watched by all Lab scientists if they forgot these important basics
Especially Biotechs and Biochemists
In the presence of oxygen
The glowing splinter relights also because oxygen supports combustion ☺ but the one u told is also correct
Thanks fm a Teacher. I have my Sunday Science School in 4 hours fm now.
Very straight forward thanks
Awesome!!!! Thank you so much!!!!! :D
