Using the Yawning Portal betting slip and the the actual yawning portal at the beginning of the Mad Mage campaign would probably be the best introduction to any game by far

I gotta ask... how? According to the wiki, this piece is basically only the bottom half of the inn, abs the 2nd floor is barely even furnished. Super overpriced for not even half the actual inn...

    2 things.....
    1) It's really nice, multi-functional, and a head turner.
    2) It's still just plastic, no matter how durable, just plastic with a simple infinity-mirror and WAAAAAAAYYYYY TOO EXPENSIVE!!!
Thanks for the review though... Great as always!

Favorite DMs Guild prod: The Castle Ravenloft Battle Maps from Venatus Maps. Before the B&G premium set, this was the only way to get battlemaps for the castle. Still a great product for your CoS or other haunted mansion game

I loved candlekeep, I was able to turn it into a whole campaign where the party runs a P.I agency and each encounter was a story from the book. But each encounter book was a portal to the past where each event happened.

Love this! So far my most used DMs guild product has been the Dungeon Coach Arctic Survival House Rules,
Ten towns Expanded by Patrick Rehse, the monster harvester handbook, hamunds harvesting handbook, and for running dungeon of the mad mage I used Skullport encounters by Aaron Harrell and Ins and outs of under mountain by paul metzger.
    Top tier supplements here

Do you even have to ask what my favorite supplement of all time is at this point? I guess for the new viewers amongst us who might be looking for some wisdom of an old school DM you could spend your money in much worse places than the Vanrichtens guides to monsters. If you want a masterwork in how to create atmosphere and a truly special antagonist that will haunt your players for years to come I am hard pressed to think of better.
I heard there is a supplement out there that adds a supernatural merchant to the Theros setting that is really well written, I need to buy that as well!

Very nice set. I was especially stoked to see that the spiral staircase was actually built to accommodate the use of minis by slotting-in their bases. Consequently, I was... less stoked... to see that feature not repeated elsewhere. Still, very cool.
Just a few weeks back, I got the Planescape setting (AD&D 2e) in hardcover over on DMs Guild! It was my favorite setting of that era, and there were certainly quite a few options at the time. I owned the original boxed set in the 90s (and, like, *all* of the Planescape boxed sets), so this is rather nostalgic for me. Many moons ago, my family had to move somewhat unexpectedly, and we had to downsize rather substantially--selling that boxed set to better suit the living conditions at the new house is something that I still find upsetting.
And though the posters and maps that came with the boxed set are now separated and broken into multiple pages in the books and pdfs, they aren't entirely crucial, so I don't really mind too much.

I feel like those round bits on top of the pillars was meant to slot into something on the bottom of the second floor...which was left out. I don't know why the round parts are there otherwise. They seem to serve no purpose...I was thinking of putting magnets on them to help them stay in place because when the second floor is on the pillars it feels a bit shaky.

Great review. Closeups of the yawning portal sealed the deal and I will buy this weekend. I would not have purchased if made of cardboard. They should consider re-booting the tower to the same quality standard as this. I skipped the tower for this reason. Tiamat and Yawning portal mean lean pockets for Christmas but happy gamers around the table. Keep up the great work.

I’m gonna say I was super excited about this first came out. I enjoyed the very first layout with the three stories. But I was completely underwhelmed with this overall for the price that you would pay for something like this I would’ve expected more. I think they could’ve absorbed more of the cost by adding in a third plastic story with more pillars, and had them snap in to placed for more stability, or at least some type of locking mechanism that would be easily removed for play. I feel like it was too expensive for what we got and they could’ve sold it at a lower price just for the unique pieces to add to an existing warlock tile set. Overall, I’m glad I got it but completely underwhelm and felt like it was more of a waste of money, and they just capitalized on the brand name of a famous Tavern.
