What good is the radar module if you park normally, facing in, rather than backing into a parking space? Sounds like it only looks forward.
Does parking mode work with the optional rear camera?
You are correct the radar module looks forward and is intended to pick up larger objections, such as another car. You will get recording from both front and rear cameras in parking mode.
So the radar recognizes bigger objects like cars. There will be a lot of cars coming through if you park on a public street. I don't see how the radar module, in this instance, would be any different than normal motion detection.
Thanks for the info. Do I need to set the dash cam to parking/energy savings every time I park? Or I can set a default and forget about it.
Once it is set, you are good to go. It is stored in the camera settings.
What happens if you are hit from the rear when this module is installed?
This module is only aimed out the front of the vehicle. It would not detect a vehicle at the rear of the vehicle. If you have a Thinkware camera with a secondary rear camera installed, it is likely that you will still have footage of this occurrence, but it would only be After the collision. This product is designed to assist in the early detection of a vehicle in front of the vehicle.
If the radar was mounted in the front and the car was hit from the rear, will all cameras turn on and record? 99% of the time when park, front of the car go in first and the rear was exposed. In the video, the rear backup first and the front of the car was exposed.
The sensitivity of the impact can be adjusted, which would determine how hard the impact would need to be in order to start the recording. All these settings can be adjusted with the smart phone app that connects to the dashcam.
If radar fanction is for front camera, i wonder whats happening with rear camera while on energy saving mode. Does it work only when radar senses motion in front or does it stay all the time in the normal Motion Detection Parking Mode?
Good question! The radar module will activate both the front and rear cameras when it detects motion in the front of the vehicle.
How about your car is parked in street but you got hit on car on rear side of car. Does this rader will be on to take rear and front.
And the native motion detection ,so without that radar, is picking up what? Same, only big objects, not people?
The Radar Module with the U1000 extends its parking surveillance duration while reducing power consumption. The Radar will detect motion and allow the dash cam to prepare to save an event clip. If an impact is detected, a 20 second video (10 seconds before and 10 seconds after the impact) is saved in a dedicated folder on the MicroSD card.
Does it detect vandalism and identifies the perpetrators, like spray painting or key scratching or tyres puncturing with any sharp object like knives, that doesn’t cause any level of impact, hence you mentioned it ignores and doesn’t detects smaller objects like humans❓
The radar sensor is designed to look for motion, and turn the dashcam on for recording. It's main purpose is to detect a vehicle that could impact your vehicle, before the impact occurs. It is not designed to identify a person.
will the obd option works with 2017 ford ranger diesel?
Unfortunately, we did not get the Ranger in North America until the 2019 model year, and those had a gateway module in them, which will not allow the HWK-TW01 to function properly in them. If it is similarly wired where you are located for the 2017 model year, we expect the same.
Is that 16 hours from their own battery system, or 16 hours based on the vehicle battery? If it’s vehicle battery, then what if I have a dual battery system in my vehicle, or deep cycle AGM batteries that more power? What if I have a 50 watt solar power charger hooked up to the vehicle batteries that supply power to the batteries and the vehicle when the vehicle is in the sun? How long will it last then?
That is based on the Thinkware iVolt external battery.
Hello there, why the video is broken of course I install Sundisk micro SD 4K 128 GB , thanks
Hello Mohamad,
I'm not sure what you mean by the "video is broken" can you give me some more details.
@@cartecknow1817 the video is glitching
I would first reformat your SD card. If that does not help you can reach Tech Support at 727-346-6281 M-F 9am-7pm.
While the radar module is on standby for the front.. is it possible to have the rear on motion detection?
Hey! Great question! We have a dedicated technical support team that can help you out with this! 🙂 You can chat with them here: cartecknow.com/pages/tech-support
Hi, I followed the instructions to install the radar module, and I found that the module cannot record any impact which made by me outside the car. The module only detected the impact of my door closing action…Meanwhile, the rear cam didn’t record anything while the car was impacted by me.
The radar module will not pick up human movement. It will only pick up that of a vehicle, size wise.
@@cartecknow1817 i understand, i mean the cam/the radar module cant detect any impact i made, for example push the car or knock the bonnet. i found that the cam only detect the impact which vibrated the front glass because the cam attached on it. The radar module is good but maynot detect any impact or scratch made by human.
If I buy the Thinkware package that comes with both the front facing and rear view cameras and I don't want to use the rear view camera can I only use the front facing camera and use the rear view camera on a different vehicle or do both have to be installed in tandem?
The rear camera does not record on its own. It needs to be connected to the front camera which is also the "brain" of the unit.
Will the radar sensor work with the plug and play version of the Ivolt battery?
The iVolt battery backup will give you battery backup that is not using the vehicles battery. You can still add the radar module to extend the Parking Mode capability.
You said it only works with the OBD cable or hardwire kit. Will it work using the neo battery pack?
Kenneth Wallace good question! As long as the camera is able to draw power while the ignition is off, it should work. We can’t comment for certain on third party battery packs though. :)
I was told it would work with neo
How about can you use radar with rear camera
The radar enhances the front parking mode, check out our video for more information ruclips.net/video/_Gb36np1dEg/видео.html
What if I buy a second radar and use a Y adapter to hook them up?
I like your creativity! However, the input for the radar module is setup to work with 1 radar sensor. It is NOT recommended to modify the radar module cable or use a Y adaptor with it to connect more than one module. One radar module can be connected to a Thinkware dash cam.
What is the maxiuim distance the radar module can be away from the u1000 in order to work??
Good question! It is approximately 7m (22ft) in either direction.
@@cartecknow1817 I realize that this question is dated. But I think he's asking how long the cable is?
Will it interfere with radar detectors?
The Radar Module is only active when the camera is set to Parking Surveillance and Energy Saving Mode. The Radar will detect motion and allow the dash cam to prepare to save an event clip. Parking Surveillance mode does require the Hardwiring Cable or OBD II Power Cable and installation.
i know it's kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good website to stream newly released movies online?
@Brayden Marshall i would suggest FlixZone. You can find it on google =)
@Abraham Cesar Yea, I've been using flixzone for since march myself :)
@Abraham Cesar thanks, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) Appreciate it !!
