I love Parkway, they make me smile and they have the best shows. Their music always has a meaning to it and regardless of what some people think, they're creating something that can change people. When you see them in the studio and out of the "band" dynamic, it's obvious that they're down to earth Byron guys. They make me proud to be Australian (:
I watched this video a million times before this album came out, lmao. Still one of my favorites of their records. Fun fact: Winston recorded Wreckage in one take!
I like the albums production for two reasons mainly: 1) The drums sound natural, yet very very good for heavy music 2) You can hear the bass I don't think this has ever happened on one single record of this genre.
Yeah joe's a veteran producer, so much experience, old school producer who knows so much about recording blah blah blah Adam d knows what a modern metal album should sound like. That's why everything he does sounds incredible. Same exact thing happened with As i lay dying. They stepped away from Adam d and got a worse sounding album. Powerless rise sounded amazing. Awakened not so much.
I just saw them play the first leg of Warped Tour. I also bought their new album and met them and asked for them to sign and it has been playing in my car ever since. To say anything less than that the record is such a leap forward from their previous works is an understatement. I spoke with Jeff Ling today and he said give it a listen and it will take a bit to get used to but his signature melodic riffs still remain with just such a raw, intense retake of everything they have done
Dude Barresi is the man he has produced some great stuff and I think he has helped Parkway achieve a more complete full sound. I can't Wait til the 29th!
Best band nowadays without a doubt, extremely original and love them so much more since i saw the dvd where they seem such good and normal people who love what they do upon everything, can't wait for the new album of the year.
Horizons is still an outstanding album on every front front (productoin, songwriting, riffs, THOSE MASSIVE TONE, lyrics) and always will be, closely after that follows Deep Blue. The rest is okay imo.
This album will make Metal History, If someone like Joe Barresi thinks they are great then imagine what the mass population of heavy music listeners will think. I'm so stoked for this \M/ guys, Warped tour is nothing without you...
im heading over to aus in a couple of months and im staying in the gold coast but were going to come to Byron Bay and go to Parkway Dr and i wanna get a few pictures of the parkway house and the Parkway Dr road sign
i cant explain why i like their music, it just works for me, i mean when i listened to deep blue for the first time, man... it was epic, and i listen to mostly metalcore bands, trivium, kse, log, asking alexandria, rise to remain, bfmv. METALCORE FOR THE WIN!
The mixing was so much more better in "Killing with a Smile" and "Horizons", in my opinion... In Deep Blue, it's trying too hard to make the guitars sound heavy but it just comes out as being a messy/over-bass tone. Not as crisp and tight as their first two albums... Anyway, that's my 5 cents worth :)
Thats because horizons & killing with a smile were recorded and mixed by Adam D. From killswitch engage..i still like The sound of deep blue but the 2 records that were mixed by Adam were incredibly great sounding
Yeah, exactly! Adam D and Parkway Drive had such a awesome sound... Don't get me wrong, Deep Blue and Atlas are still epic! I always blast my car speakers with Deliver Me, Karma... lol But if i want to listen to aggressive and actually heavy sounding guitars, then Killing with a smile and Horizons are my first choice... haha
Yes! Exactly! Especially in the intro of 'Karma' you notice it heaps... But, yeah, it definitely sounds like a live/raw recording approach in Deep Blue and Atlas. Rock on dude!
I agree. Deep blue is too messy, too round and hollow. The albums they made with Adam has killer sound. Crunchy guitars and tight drums. Some cool songs on Deep Blue, though, just with the roing tone..
Never actually been this excited about an Album before, ever. Parkway Drive has been part of my life for the last 5-6 years, Killing with a Smile / Horizons were just so unbelievably epic, i will shit my pants if Deep Blue tops those two albums. It's gonna be fucking epic, Parkway Drive are some of the most talented musicians across the entire Metal genre, i have faith. For the record, PWD is my favorite band of all time, pushing aside RATM for the number one spot. Keep breaking necks PWD!
I think it was a smooth, straight line progression from the first album, to horizons, then to deep blue. Killing with a smile was more melodic, energetic and wilder, Horizons was more tight, mature and heavy. Then deep blue followed that progression, Even heavier and more extreme. Deep blue is the most mature album from deep blue. Not sure about Atlas. It's great, but there's a lot of......... random stuff on there.
for people that say deep blue is too "sludgey" they may want to go back & listen to killing with a smile, or better yet dont close your eyes...they had a want a sludgey sound (guns for show knifes for a pro, its so slow & heavy it would put anything on deep blue to shame if joe produced it) its just that adam d makes an extremely tight & "perfect" sound. both joe and adam are AMAZING producers, its just different styles. Adam D made parkway grow, Joe produces more to what parkway want as a band.
At first, I didn't like "Deep Blue" that much. Also because of the production. But then it slowly grew on me and now I listen just to this album from PD: if you listen close, the sound is so natural and heavy at the same time... come on guys, have you ever listened to "Deliver Me" on huge speakers? it's absolutely killer....
@abmanc98 finally someone who realizes that just because adam d is a legend in music doesn't mean that he "automatically" beats every other producer. I agree that the production on deep blue was better for parkway, much more low end and in my opinion better guitar tone, loved the sound of the drums, they stood out to me more. I liked the musical content on the other albums more but deep blue was produced very well.
I really enjoy the old production much better, I think it suits pwd's sound more. But that's just my opinion. Bring back Adam D for next album! Thumbs up who's with me!
@jamcow3 I'm sorry for trolling but Joe Barresi doesn't specifically do lighter rock. He's produced and engineered Kyuss, Melvins and Isis, who are some of the most crushing bands of all time. He'a also produced Tool. Enough said.
@dirtyhappiness Exactly how I felt about the record. At the time I got Deep Blue, I just knew "Unrest" because they've played it quite a bit on the tour before Deep Blue was released. I liked the song, but after the very first time I've heard the entire album, that was about it. But it grew, definitely, and by this very time Deep Blue by Parkway Drive is my alltime favourite record. It scares me in a "good way" to think about where PWD go from here... :)
The drums sound soo good on Deep Blue. Huuuuuge
The layering with the guitars mixed with the drums is massive and soo good
The kick drum is too loud IMO but yeah the drums sound punchy for sure
I watched this video a million times before this album came out, lmao. Still one of my favorites of their records. Fun fact: Winston recorded Wreckage in one take!
0:33 CANADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Ire and Reverence were both recorded in Canada.. I knew Winston was trying to tell us something
*canonized*
but either way, all good holmes- thats what i thought he was saying at first too lol
I like the albums production for two reasons mainly:
1) The drums sound natural, yet very very good for heavy music
2) You can hear the bass
I don't think this has ever happened on one single record of this genre.
god I would love a remaster of KWAS and Horizons
Doesn't need it
Why? Those a albums all sounds clear, especially for their first albums
instaBlaster.
True
lol I was thinking Deep Blue needed to be Remastered 😂 Horizons will forever be one of the best, cleanest, and best-mixed albums to this day.
''Led Zeppelin played trough this amp!''
Luke's conclusion : ''Maybe I should fart on it''
god I love this band XD
I'm so excited. I have so much respect for this band.
Yeah joe's a veteran producer, so much experience, old school producer who knows so much about recording blah blah blah
Adam d knows what a modern metal album should sound like. That's why everything he does sounds incredible. Same exact thing happened with As i lay dying. They stepped away from Adam d and got a worse sounding album. Powerless rise sounded amazing. Awakened not so much.
Agreed dont get me wrong deep blue was a cool album and I have love for it big-time but horizons is and will always be their best.
I Can´t stop watching this video everyday!
We still do love them so much...
I wish I could fart on jimmy Page's amp :(
My god so much emotion in that scream at :38... this is sounding awesome and i've only watched 1 minute of it. x.x
I just saw them play the first leg of Warped Tour. I also bought their new album and met them and asked for them to sign and it has been playing in my car ever since. To say anything less than that the record is such a leap forward from their previous works is an understatement. Set to Destroy- Parkway Drive
Last song on the Deep Blue album :-)
Dude Barresi is the man he has produced some great stuff and I think he has helped Parkway achieve a more complete full sound. I can't Wait til the 29th!
this few seconds from the new tracks sound aweseom!
i have so many albums in my ipod but i had to say parkway drive is da beast. saw em live once, and i wouldn't mind paying alot just to see em again.
Sounds incredible! I'm so psyched right now.
Best band nowadays without a doubt, extremely original and love them so much more since i saw the dvd where they seem such good and normal people who love what they do upon everything, can't wait for the new album of the year.
How people rate Parkway drive albums:Horizons is always number 1 the rest is up to you.
How I rate Parkway Drive albums:I love you all
Horizons is still an outstanding album on every front front (productoin, songwriting, riffs, THOSE MASSIVE TONE, lyrics) and always will be, closely after that follows Deep Blue. The rest is okay imo.
Every single track on Deep Blue is unreal, PWD forever
"This time we wrote songs that... we wanted to hear..." haha I lost it. Jeffs too funny
cannot wait for this, gonna be amazing!
always listened to PWD. saw them a week ago - they blew my mind! can't believe how good they were, they're new record is going to be MENTAL.

okay this album is gonna blow my mind.
So pumped.
I can't wait for this album, parkway drive is epic!
This album will make Metal History, If someone like Joe Barresi thinks they are great then imagine what the mass population of heavy music listeners will think. I'm so stoked for this \M/ guys, Warped tour is nothing without you...

Why is Parkway Drive so god damn good!!!!
Am I the only one watching this over and over again just to hear the music bits?

I CANNOT WAIT!
This album blows their previous releases out of the water
im heading over to aus in a couple of months and im staying in the gold coast but were going to come to Byron Bay and go to Parkway Dr and i wanna get a few pictures of the parkway house and the Parkway Dr road sign
joe is legend!!! hands down
i cant explain why i like their music, it just works for me, i mean when i listened to deep blue for the first time, man... it was epic, and i listen to mostly metalcore bands, trivium, kse, log, asking alexandria, rise to remain, bfmv. METALCORE FOR THE WIN!
CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good album but kwas kicks it's butt. Adam D always

Parkway drive is the best metalcore band ever.
Yesssss, this is going to be awesome \m/

The mixing was so much more better in "Killing with a Smile" and "Horizons", in my opinion... SuperItalia494 totally man. Although i will say that Deep Blue kind of sounds like it's live, like the kick drum especially feels like its a live mix
Yes!

Parkway drive, The most honest and human metal band in the world
@mrmaidenman666 horizons or killing with a smile??or their ep??you just cant say which one is better, all of their songs are awesome
The 17 dislikes on this video must be from Led Zeppelin fans
I think it was a smooth, straight line progression from the first album, to horizons, then to deep blue. It's new, it's fresh and IT'S FUCKING BRUTAL!
I saw this video just now for the 600th time, and jizzed in my pants for the 600th time. This album will be RIGHTEOUS.
for people that say deep blue is too "sludgey" they may want to go back & listen to killing with a smile, or better yet dont close your eyes...they had a want a sludgey sound (guns for show knifes for a pro, its so slow & heavy it would put anything on deep blue to shame if joe produced it) its just that adam d makes an extremely tight & "perfect" sound. both joe and adam are AMAZING producers, its just different styles. Deep blue is the best album they've done yet.
Thumbs up if you agree.
@Drumlord3005 It's Deliver Me and he's screaming "CANONISED". It's an amazing song. My favourite from the album.
@TomoSully No idea mate. He was definetly in bali though
Dear Joe,
PLZ PLZ PLZ manage a band that im in when im olderr !!
Thanx
@abmanc98 finally someone who realizes that just because adam d is a legend in music doesn't mean that he "automatically" beats every other producer. fuck cant wait till end of this year for the next album
It came out more than three years ago.
I really enjoy the old production much better, I think it suits pwd's sound more. But that's just my opinion.
Bring back Adam D for next album! Thumbs up who's with me!
2:36 loving this bit the most
@HEY3656 It's Deliver Me, if by any chance you meant 1:29 then Set To Destroy
Holy shit! He had his shirt on!! :)
@jamcow3 I'm sorry for trolling but Joe Barresi doesn't specifically do lighter rock. He's produced and engineered Kyuss, Melvins and Isis, who are some of the most crushing bands of all time. He'a also produced Tool. Enough said.
