    Just an FYI, rarebit is melted cheese.
    And the red frame in the upstairs room was a fold-up bed frame as taverns in the 18th Century typically provided places to sleep for travelers, much like an inn.

    Please note that the correct pronunciation of the tavern is: "Chew-ning's"; NOT "Chow-nings. One of my cousins is a direct descendant of the original tavern owner.

      Our family visited there about 30 years ago. I remember it was pronounced Chew-ning’s. I also remember getting ginger cakes somewhere else. I also remember seeing Roy Underhill. It was quite a treat.

      "Chewnings" is the way I was told the name is pronounced, by some of the servers working there.

    I was a little disappointed to see that the outdoor seating was changed to modern picnic tables. I think that they used to have much more accurate tables and benches. I suppose that they were too expensive to maintain and didn't stand-up to the weather as well as twenty-first century picnic tables. Sadly, Colonial Williamsburg is struggling financially. That's a shame, and I've always believed that all Americans should visit there at least once in their lifetimes. If God would bestow billions of dollars on me, I'd certainly help CW substantially. The history of the United States is being subverted in some places instead of being augmented. I hope that there still IS a Colonial Williamsburg 25 years from now.

    • @QuestCapsule
      @QuestCapsule  3 года назад +2

      Yes, everyone should visit CW at least once. Financial challenges are sometimes hard to navigate through. The great thing about a historical area like Williamsburg is that even though tangible artifacts may change or be altered through the years, the history that happened here can't be changed. Knowing this always keeps me completely fascinated. Thank you William for your comment and for watching!🎩

      Hi Daniel, Yes, I had to be discreet with the camera but our waitress and staff were awesome and really had a chance to just "look" around and film some of the interiors and our food, etc which gave me a chance to develop our experience. I hope soon you can get by there to try it yourself! Thanks for watching and so glad you liked it!
