  • Join us for my first ever visit to Colonial Williamsburg and Merchants Square in Williamsburg Virginia as part of our March 2022 road trip from Florida to Virginia! In this video, we take you from the visitor center to Colonial Williamsburg as we stroll the streets and step into the past, visiting shops, the courthouse, crafts people, shows and more, and eating delicious food at The Cheese Shop in Merchants Square for lunch and the most amazing dinner with really fun facts given by our awesome server at the King's Arm Tavern! We have a lot of fun, as the day gets more and more fun as it goes on and we get more acclimated to things. A great and interesting first visit, even though some things weren't exactly as I expected. We end with a gorgeous sunset and stroll back to the visitor center. I hope you enjoy this step back to the Virginia Colony and interesting mix of history and modernity in Colonial Williamsburg and Merchants Square!
Welcome to Super Enthused! My name is Jackie and I bring you along as we visit fun and unique travel destinations, theme parks and attractions, road trips, resort tours and so much more. I hope you enjoy the videos, thanks for being here! ❤️

Williamsburg should consider itself lucky that Sam didn't re-claim the colony as revenge in the name of the ghost of King George III..I mean he did say he would send a fully-armed battalion to remind us of his love 😂
If you're ever in PA or NJ, I highly recommend visiting Valley Forge and Jockey Hollow National Historical Parks respectively. Jockey Hollow is outside Morristown and it was used by the Continental Army was their main winter encampment. Washington's headquarters during the encampment is still preserved in the middle of town. And Valley Forge is another winter encampment used (it's where they stayed after failing to retake Philly) that has a HUGE memorial arch that reminds me of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. I know all of this because I've been to those places for scouting to do their ten mile trails. And trust me, there's *SO* much history in the Northeast

AS a reenactor myself (Roman 1st Cen. Crusader, WW1 & WW2) it's always fun going to these sites and chatting up fellow reenactors . WE love getting good Q's and explaining stuff letting people touch and try on items. for example my WW2 unit we let people kit up in a parachute with gear so they can get the feel of how heavy it was for paratroopers. For Roman we did the kid's Cohort with plastic swords / helmets and shields to teach formations while parents threw foam rocks at them. we have Old Sturbridge Village here in MA and they host a very large "Redcoats and Rebels " battle reenacment along with a very fun "Christmas by Candlelight" glad to see you enjoying it. FYI we always love to be asked "Are you hot in that?" lol

For our 25th anniversary, my husband and I went to Colonial Williamsburg during the Christmas season. We stayed in the Brickhouse Tavern, one of the restored buildings on Duke of Gloucester Street. At Christmastime in the late 1700's they did not put up trees, but they did put naturally decorated wreath's on their doors. All the buildings had beautiful wreath's on the doors including the Brickhouse Tavern where we were staying. Every time we opened the door to go out, someone was taking a picture of the door. We were in a lot of people's vacation photos! Thank you for the trip down memory lane or Duke of Gloucester Street I should say!

The hour after dawn and just before dusk is called magic hour because of the awesome lighting. One of my best Colonial Williamsburg memories is walking through near dusk at the end of an extremely hot day, just after a cold rain came through. Heat from the grounds created a mist that brought out an effervescence from the unique colonial era plants and flowers. It was a truly a magic moment. And as much as I appreciate the magic that WDW brings, stepping back in time in a place like Colonial Williamsburg brings IMHO an even more special feeling of wonder. Great video and great road trip so far. Kind of funny that Sam wore his short pants on such a cool windy day :)

I LOVE Williamsburg. Definitely go during one of their busier seasons, later spring/summer as there’s a ton more to do there. I’d recommend the museum’s and if you have time, Jamestown is REALLY neat too. ☺️

I definitely want to go back maybe for Christmas or summer, but I still loved it, it's so beautiful!!! Loved this whole road trip and seeing so many different places, what's crazy is it's almost time for our 2023 road trips to kick off!! I can't believe it!!

This is the best video I have seen! I’m so excited to join my son’s school field trip here. We are spending the weekend since it’s my birthday and Mother’s Day weekend.

Yey! Loving videos of your trip to the commonwealth of VA! Super happy you all got to the Cheeseshop and Kings Arm. Both are must visits when we hit up Colonial Williamsburg! Next trip, I highly recommend a ghost tour. They aren’t super scary, but fun and informative!
So refreshing to see some of our favorite FL RUclipsrs enjoying Virginia! Between the Williamsburg/Newport News/VA Beach area, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and museums in the Northern Virginia/DC area, there is a lot to do. We hope you have enjoyed your stay! The videos look it.

These trips are the best. You can go at your own pace. It's the kind of information I am using to plan my summer time mini trips and get aways. Thank you and keep having fun. 🎉🌞🎶
PS. Best part of road trips...🎤 carpool karaoke, lol. 😘🎶🎶🎶

So glad to hear the King's Arms Tavern is back open! It's definitely the best restaurant in CW! You'll have to go back on a weekend night when they do full 18th century style plays in the big theater!
