That ending!!! He didn't just say it, but went above and beyond to reenact the scene🤣🤣🤣 LEGENDARY What a cool guy. He seems so well traveled. Very fortunate.
I have come to know Carter Wong more recently watching the old movies from the Wu Tang channel and streaming and he became a big star in his own films in his own right. Great to see he is still around, a legend.
@@pierregagnon2666 hahaha... What was the website that had all the quotes playing repetitiously, "yo dog that's my???" Don't know what happened to that site, but was a lot of funny quotes from Big Trouble!
Wow, what a personality. He seems both humble and assure of himself. Love this interview, and the good relations between Mr. Wong and Carpenter was lovely!
Jessie, you were so eloquent and well prepared, wow! Such a professional interview. Compliments to sound and camera shots too. I cannot say enough compliments. You deserve all the admiration and success, wishing you both. HaHa! The end was classic, still laughing 🤣
nice interview jessie and thanks for being able to get an interview with him . as a african american growing up in the 80's and 90's i've always had a high respect for martial arts and asian culture as do millions of other african americas . btilc is 1 of my favorite movies of all time and when thunder blew himself up in was the funniest things i've ever saw 😆🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was wonderful. Thank you for sharing. And, for a 74 year old, Mr Wong is still in ridiculously great shape. Still doing up to 2 hours exercise per day!
Great interview! Congratulations! I grew up in the 1970’s and loved watching Kung-Fu movies on Saturday afternoons. Carter Wong, and many other actors in Big Trouble in Little China, stared in those movies. He is so kind an humble. His students are very honored to have him as their instructor.
Simply delightful!!! Despite the racial criticisms of Big Trouble in Little China, I keep hearing a lot of praise from the Chinese and Chinese-American actors and crew as something that was both a big opportunity and something special as a Hollywood project for many of the reasons as the esteemed Carter Wong listed.
Love this film and each and every character, growing up in the 80s as a african american this movie was a grail. So much too like and love, still in my top 5. Back when there was true adventure and mystery in the world. Thank you Mr.Wong. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💯
Just finished watching Big trouble in little china and rushed to youtube to see more of the actors and characters.. So glad I found this interview... really inspiring! And the movie is even more amazing after this interview. Thanks for sharing!
Jessie hizo una gran entrevista y el Sr. Wong demostró ser un gran profesional pero con la humildad y sencillez de un verdadero maestro.¡ Felicitaciones a ambos!.
Oh wow! I freakin' love this. Always been a big fan of Mr. Carter Wong's films ever since the 80'. So glad he is still doing well. Big fan here and much love from the US. The re-enactment was so fantastic. Thank you for the interview Mr. Wong and you did great Jessie. You got a new subscriber here.
Thanks for conducting such an excellent interview, and thanks to Carter Wong for being so gracious and generous. Big Trouble is one of my favorite movies. What a wonderful treat it was to see this interview.
Your interview with the legendary Carter Wong was amazing! You put a nostalgic smile on my face, and hoping for a Big Trouble In Little China 2 cast reunion as well! 🤩 Bravo on the fun interview and to a healthy Carter Wong as well!
"Big Trouble in Little China" is one of my favorite movies. It has aged well and I still watch it every now and then. Cult classic for sure. Top 10 of the genre, ALL TIME! I wore out the VHS tape years ago, but bought a DVD when it came out on DVD. The whole movies was well acted, funny, good action scenes and great affects. Enjoyed this interview, I subscribed and set notifications. I am going to watch it again tonight 4-24-2023!
Carter Wong is a legend I remember first seeing him in another American martial arts film called Tiger Claws 3, and then finding out he had a long career in the Hong Kong film industry in the 70s....my all time favourite film of his is Born Invincible in which he plays a villain who utterly destroys the entire group combatants at a Kung Fu school and every potential protagonist that attempts to take him down, that movie is epic.....fun fact, Raiden from Mortal Kombat is inspired by Thunder from Big Trouble in Little China
I grew up with this movie. Back in the mid 80s nobody liked it. People thought I was mad. But a few years later it became a classic. I love Carter and all the characters. I love how it weaves Chinese folk stories with Western frontier action and myths.
thank you so much for doing this interview! loved how honest he was and how he said he did NOT experience any racism. and thank you for having him do the line from the movie! great stuff!
I'm also curious to know if you are interviewing him in Mandarin and he is speaking in Cantonese or not. I lived in Hong Kong when I was little(more than 40yrs ago and kind of remember the sound)
Thank you for the interview! I watched so many Carter Wong films growing up. It’s great to see him doing fine all these years. I wish I had the chance to ask him about my favorite Carter Wong film, “Born Invincible” and his experience working with Taiwanese director Joseph Kuo. Would love to see another interview! Thanks again!
Finally someone mentions it! I was thinking I'm the only one...Born Invincible was a classic! And even his films with Angela Mao like The Legendary Strike, The Tournament and Hapkido
Wonderful interview! Glad to see Sifu Carter is still so enthusiastic & full of life! I love how he would start answering you in Mandarin & then he would revert to his more natural Cantonese! Would love to hear you analyze his mandarin and if you fully understood his style of mandarin being that he is from Macao/HK. Did Jessie understand Carter fully when he spoke Cantonese?
Thanks! Carter Wong's Mandarin is really fluent, he felt more comfortable speaking Cantonese though. My Cantonese listening is probably like my English listening, there might be a few new words I don't understand but I get the idea. Too bad I'm not fully fluent in Cantonese yet but I've been learning, hope I can do it in fully Cantonese next time!
Big Trouble in Little China is one of my all time favorite movies. As a kid I always thought Thunder was super bad ass. Awesome to hear mr Wong's thoughts on being part of such a great film. And also, everyone who speaks about John Carpenter always says he's a really nice guy.
Thanks for doing this great interview with Carter! Absolutely love this movie from a young age. I believe I was about 9 years old when it was shown on television, sometime back in 1992 or 1993. It is still my favourite movie to this day. Great mix of so many genres rolled into one!
I absolutely love Big Trouble in Little China. I remember watching it when I was in High School back in the 80s. I cant even count how many times I've seen it. I'm actually watching it right now, and decided to do a quick search for actors from the movie. This interview is great!
Wooow, what a great, great interview. I saw this movie near 30 years ago, now I'm close 40 and still enjoy watching it and Thunder was my favourite character!!! Thank you Jessie for this interview!!!👏👏👏👏👏
This made me so happy. I have enjoyed “Big Trouble In Little China” since I was a kid. It’s a special movie to me, because it takes me back to my childhood years every time I watch it. This was a great interview! You did so well!! 👏👏👏Carter Wong is a legend! I loved hearing him talk about his experiences. I have heard a lot of positive stories from the cast and crew of Big Trouble In Little China. James Hong in particular speaks very fondly of his time on the film. It seems like everyone put their heart into making that movie. The fact that the movie has such a dedicated fan base to this day is a great testament to everyone’s efforts.

I really like how you set up your questions, particularly how you laid out the debate on the racial context of BTiLC. Also LOVE Sifu Wong's response "I think those people think too much."
