What can it be if gearbox seems to make some rattling noise during acceleration on 5th and 6th gear, only around 2000rpm Audi A6 C7 2.0 diesel Thank you
Possibly, the dual mass flywheel is dying mate, a lot of people don't realise it has one, but unfortunately they do and they fail all the time, hope that helps, 👍🏻
Hello can you help me out on this one if you can, I own a 2012 VW CC Sport 2.0 4 cylinder with the DSG gears so when I drive it on d/s + the gears show up normally like 1,2,3 etc but when I drive it on ( S ) mode usually it supposed to be like S1,S2,S3 etc but on my it only shows the S what could the issue be ?
Has this happened every time recently or a 1 off? If it used to show S1 S2 S3, ect, and now isn't, could be a software issue ( if you've had a flat battery ect) so may need to be plugged in to re calibrate/ synchronise the gears with the readout, or it's literally just getting old and is having glitches, as long as the shifting is working as it should and it's preforming OK, I wouldn't worry to much, if it is playing up, unfortunately that's a vw specialist to re code the gears to the sensors, hope that helps mate.
@@thestanleysadventures8229 well I had taken the car for a trans rebuild I don’t know if mechanics did everything correctly , before it did used to show the S1,S2,S3 . Etc now it doesn’t but it does shift normal it just kinda bothers me not seeing the S mode display the gears correctly haha
@thebigbosss1000 OK, so if it's had a rebuild, there are electronics in there that need re fitting correctly, when in sport mode it should up shift as late as poss and down shift to keep you on boost at all times, if its not doing that it's not actually in sport mode, that could be why it's not registering the gear just the gear selector position
Do this first ( make sure it's up to working temp first) if it doesn't make a difference, then you've poss got a dual mass flywheel dying, what's the mileage?
@@thestanleysadventures8229 Ok never knew that everything I've seen was a manual .. I will try the reset Can you please write out the exact procedure... Hi mate I’m having a issue where my car sometimes bang/jumps into gear on a downshift, also does sometimes jolts upon upshifting (specially when the engine is cold) the ecu reset fixed this, but the downshift still the same… do you have any idea what it could be? Much appreciated! 2017 a4 tdi
Unfortunately, it could be your dual mass flywheel dying. A lot of people think being an auto they don't have them, but unfortunately, they do, it tends to be worse on a cold engine because the motor is running at a higher idle speed and isn't running so smooth as when hot, what mileage is your car on?
@@thestanleysadventures8229 the mileage is just under 60k, I haven’t taken it for a diagnosis yet as I’m dreading the hefty repair bill, but I was thinking a gearbox service might do the trick. The car has only part service history so I have no clue when the last gearbox service was, or if it’s even had one…. Not sure what to do now 👎, dual mass flywheel repair/replacement sounds like a hefty job also
@WaveyNW Ok, so at 60k, you should be OK mate, the death zone, as I call it, is 100/130k, ish, I recommend a oil service every 40k so if it's not had one it's in desperate need of one, whoever does you work make sure the filters are changed to not just the oil, I would ask to see a sample of it to ( for your own peace of mind more than anything) to see how dirty it is, once done do another re set after 100 miles or so and see how it's doing, that would be my recommendation first mate. Yes, the dual mass is a hefty price for sure, but if you did have to you'd only do it once, oh and don't comment on it to the garage, just ask for a fluids and filter job, to many garages will say that's the prob just to sting you outve more money 👍🏻
@@thestanleysadventures8229 Cheers mate appreciate your advice 👍 I will be definitely servicing it asap, will let you know it goes! Just another question out of curiosity is there any other symptoms that a bad DMF may show (noises etc etc). Thanks again mate
@WaveyNW Yes there are, you'll get a light rumble at the gearbox end of the motor, which will become a rattle as the flywheel breaks up over time, poor starting/slow starting, due to bits of flywheel getting in the starter motor ( magnets) and when sat still, as you drive away you can almost feel a slight donk/thud, as the flywheel takes up the slack before engaging the engine and drive line together, my pleasure mate hope it helps, any other info on anything mechanical I'm here for you 👍🏻💪🏻 I'd love to know the outcome to thanx mate.
I have done this many times. The feeling i have is that in one reset the gear box response faster and immidate , and the other is slower if you can say that......
After the re set, it should shift quicker and smoother, up and down. These gearboxes learn how you drive to, so if you suddenly start driving more aggressively, it will be a bit slow till it learns.
@MrDim09 All the more modern vw/audi group dsg style gearboxes have a learning ECU in them, if you spend most of you time pootling around it will shift up through the gears much sooner and won't hold on to revs as much, the exact opposite will happen if you drive hard and rev more frequently, it will hold on to revs more and not shift so early in that car, pretty clever really lol
Yes, mate, could just need a re set, or your dual mass flywheel is starting to die, even though its an auto you still have one, try the re set first if it doesn't stop then you know. Any more info feel free to get in touch 👍🏻
Yes and it kind of feels bit better. The audi technician said the clutch had slipped, all being well work will be done tomorrow, I hope warranty covers this, only had the car 3 months…
@ashleymiskin5284 That's a great catch by you then mate well done 👌🏻 iv got a highly tuned Audi SQ5 so when I started getting the same issue as you, I had an uprated clutch pack put in and an uprated dual mass flywheel, the difference is huge now, keep me posted on what happens 👍🏻
First, go for a short drive to get the gearbox oil up to temp, Then, press the throttle down to the floor ( but not the kick down swith right at the bottom of the pedal) turn on the ignition ( wait for 1 minute) then turn off the ignition and release the throttle, lock the car, then unlock, start the car and go for a sensible drive ( no hard accelerating) to let the gearbox re learn it's parameters, job done. Hope that helps. 👍🏻
I wonder where this comes from. There are absolutly no information from VW themselves about this, and everyone has different ways of doing it. Some say NOT to turn off the ignotion but rather start the car.. Some say that the key should be removed and re-inserted. Some say a minute while others say 20 seconds. Some claim you have to go though all of the selecters after. This is though the first time someone mentioned locking and unlocking the doors? Not sure what this has to do with the transmission.
