Just put last name of first row . Then select the remaining empty cells . Then press ctrl + E
U can use same process if u put first name . Or 2nd name . Ctrl + E understands the relation between two cells
You are a legend for using Zidane and Henry’s names. Lol
Very useful, thank you
Pls also explain logic behind using - 1
Indexing number
string manipulation
The - is synthax that means invert the index and start from the end. So -1 = text after the last delimiter, -2 = second to last, etc.
Groovy!
@@Alexander_jade thanks buddy
You can simply use flash fill
Thanks..last and first one is easy than mid

Super but what will be the result if we give -2 or -3 at last?
-2 gives middle name and -3 first name
@@jewel8482 cool thanks. But what if the surname has 2 words which is common in my country. Surnames would be Dela Cruz or De Guzman or Delos Reyes. Is this still doable in Textafter functiom?
@@soonsuicidal I think you have to manually type it.
You can also do it with flash fill easily
amazing!
You can use Right function also..
Power query is another option... Transform, split columns, delimiter
Useful
helpful 👍
Good luck with this in Asia
But you can do this with the readymade function called "text to columns"
But that would mean he can't keep the original column intact
There is another method called =RIGHT. That can also be used
Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry are in the Squad 😂😂😂
Simply write Nolan and press Ctrl+E in below cell and boom you are done.
Flash fill is quick
Microsoft has a great reference for that stuff because it where made before the current Generation of failures startet work there
This is really cool thanks. But what if the surname has 2 words which is common in my country. We have surnames like Dela Cruz or De Guzman or Delos Reyes. Is this still doable in Textafter functiom?

Hi Ajay, which office version we can find this function. I am using office 365 but can not find text functions.
So far these functions are on Beta channel (insiders) only with partial coverage.
How can you extract just the middle name on only the names that have a middle name while ignoring the rest that only have a 1st and last name?
Me: what the... i've been using LEN inserted inside RIGHT functions for years to achieve this.... thanx for this!
Question what if they have a suffix in there last name?
What does the " -1" signify? What if I wanted the middle name?
Same question
Enter last name and press flash fill or CTRL+E Don't Think big

Anyone notice Sachin Tendulkar?
Not working on 2010 excel
What if last name is De La Cruz???
Mine is 365
But i cant find this formula
Which works until you run across someone with a space in their last name.
Then you have Mr de la Fuente complaining that he shouldn't be addressed as Mr Fuente and Sacha Baron Cohen complaining that he should be mr Baron Cohen.
Names are complicated; extracting first and last names from a full name is error prone.
Copy&paste is the best way 😂
i am getting this #NAME not last name
