You know you have GAS when you're buying multiple copies of the same guitar -- just because they're different colors.

Hey, that's totally okay to do if it's a perfect guitar for you, but you should put different pickups in the different models

I have the syndrome for similar reasons, my first show was KISS and idolized acdc as a kid, I just looked at music as larger than life, and guitars like the sg and les paul to be not only a symbol of confidence, but of identity. We all have our favourite, and generaly, their guitar is part of who they are. We are forcefed to believe you need to spend thousands to play the big stages...we are also sometimes thinking about these un important things while we make a purchase. the lesson id like to share with you guys is that technology has come a very long way, and im starting to find by doing my research that there are guitars out there that have many or all the features I need, that can emulate some features in other guitars I may want in the future. so the lesson, is to do your research like phil said. I would be happy with one sg for the rest of my life if it did everything I wanted it to, and im finding there are models now to try that are cheaper than the standard that do coil tapping, 15 db boost, circuit, forward thinking pickup configs, even the mini tune looks worth giving a shot. (talking about the Gibson sg futura) if that guitar is as good In real life as on paper, they can have my money for once, and I will be done with gas. the end. think about it guys, one guitar that looks like your dream shape, but does everything, you can find it, its out there. happy hunting! (couldn't comment normally for some reason so I had to reply)

I must admit that I've used that one before. Now the way I control myself is when I buy something new, I get rid of something of similar value/size/price. That way I only make a move when I really want something over something else. It's also quiets the wife off cuz she knows I'm not getting more stuff in the house. Once in a while tho I sneak something in without getting rid of anything but I feel proper guilt.

Lol that's funny. After seeing this I'm so glad I never got married! Gf's will bug me about buying so many videogames, but I've never had them say anything about my gear... whether that's bc I'm a professional musician so they understand, or bc they instinctively know I'll leave them if they start, who knows? Lol, I'm just glad I've never had to deal with it :-))

+Pd Money One of my favorite places in the world. A few months ago I picked up a literally brand new Epiphone Les Paul Standard Quilt Top Pro in blue that had some minor cracking at the nut for $99. The cracking was so light that they had to point it out and not enough to warrant a repair. I caught them putting it up on the wall after they'd pulled it off the truck, still in the plastic. I still play it every day, it's still my favorite color, and it still retails for $549.

That's it!!!! That's what I have..... BAD GAS. If the guitar is a bargain or in distress, I have to buy it. It's just like seeing an abused dog, if you see it being treated poorly, you have to save it. Same if no one wants it and you can get it cheap. I got a Squier Affinity Strat and a Takamine Jasmine for $25, just because they were $25. I just got another Squier Affinity Strat for $5, just because it was $5. Man.... all these years and I finally know what my condition is...... Thank you, sir, for the diagnosis.

I sold all my gear 25 years ago and hadnt touched one in the last 25. it started very innocently. wanted to start playing again so I bought a modest mim strat 9 months ago and a $100 amp. 9 months later I have 2 PRS my mim strat and 2 Les Paul's and a fender acoustic. a Marshall half stack bugera 1990 Half stack. Blackstar Half stack a vox and a bugera 5 watt head and 2x12 bottom. now considering a PRS 509. and still play like crap. but they look good. like fine art. and I will add that my wife thinks I'm an idiot. at least my mid life crisis didn't include a corvette or a 30 year old blond( which they would probably be cheaper)

Hi Phil, I've got an SG standard hidden downstairs in it's case. I play it when the wife's out. I still haven't found a decent excuse to say why I bought it. I thought I'd bring it home for a special birthday present but two weeks before my birthday, she said "What do you want for your birthday? And don't say guitars or whatever, you've already got too many of them." So now I sit and wait, planning my next move. cheers.

I got GAS almost right away and I think it held back my playing a bit. Within 2 years of playing I acquired 7 electrics, 3 acoustics, 20 pedals, a few amps. One day I realized I spent more time shopping online, watching gear review videos, and drooling over boutique pedals than playing. And anyhow, what the hell did I need a compressor for? I needed to hear how hard or soft I was picking. Loads of distortion and effects? How would I understand my developing fingertone? All those effects were fooling me into not hearing how bad a player I was.
So I sold everything but 1 electric, an MIM Fender strat. 1 acoustic, also Fender. I got rid of all my pedals and amps and used the PC and a good pair of speakers for effects and amplification, because I knew I wouldn't be gigging any time soon. Whenever I got an urge for gear, I would buy a guitar pick I have never seen before. Now I have a giant collection of wooden, metal, glass, horn, stone every brand of nylon, anything unique or even non-unique and just has a different name on it. I also collect any promotional picks. I especially like promotional picks with non-guitar oriented brand names.
Fast forward five years, I'm much more skilled and playing in a band. I have use for more gear. I have 2 electrics, one tuned to C#. One acoustic, one modeling amp, and a handful of budget pedals (A DS1, a couple old plastic Ibanez', some Chinese off-brand stuff). I'm handling my GAS very well. And my advice to any new player is to get the minimum gear you need and then forget about it and immerse yourself in technique and music.
I'd also like to add that one shouldn't let his wife tell him how to spend his hard-earned.

My wife bought one of those "self help" type books and the author said that a marriage will be stronger if both of us had a creative hobby and shared in that with your spouse. So my wife gets me on board and she decides that she will get into gourmet cooking as her expressive hobby. I chose a guitar. She was so happy. Then the GAS started. Not just with guitars, but amps, pedals, recording gear, the whole shebang. That was 30 years ago and I still have not stopped. How can you? Tone chasing is not an end, but a journey (or however the saying goes) I just bought one last week that I convinced myself was going to be the last one. Right...

  • @kdrake777

Even before seeing this video, I have given much thought into why and when I have gas. I think the most accurate reason I've found is this: to make up for my crappy playing. When I'm progressing in my playing skills or learning new songs that I'm happy with, I don't have gas. When I'm frustrated with my playing, I start looking at gear. I think by upgrading my gear I feel like I'm making progress. So now I have all USA made guitars, except my Baja telecaster. I tell myself now when I'm gassing for a new guitar that I need to upgrade my skills and the number of songs I know and not the number of guitars I have. It's still hard, there is an Es-339 satin that keeps calling my name! Must resist. PS, I'm female.

My G.A.S. has been in remission. I started taking lessons again and then started watching youtube lessons and then found your channel and now my GAS is back and it is more dangerous than ever. I try to time my online purchases so that they arrive on the days my wife works. The pedal side effect has just recently reared it's ugly head. I have ordered a Holey Board to try to control it but I think that it has only made this worse. I have to cut this short, there was just and accident outside in front of my house. The UPS truck with my Tubescreamer on it just ran into the fedex truck with my new Bassbreaker 45. I have to go and sign for both items after checking for damage. I'll see you all at the clinic!!!! I've been playing for 50 years, and I've had GAS for 50 years lol. I currently keep a list of gear I want in a note file on my computer. I never, ever remove anything but just keep adding to it. I have about 75 items in it now. This includes Guitars, Amps (both heads, cabnets, and combo's), pedals, strings to try, and of course all kinds of accessories. I had quit playing guitar for about 15 years. For Christmas in 2014, my wife bought me the Fender Squeir starter kit, with the guitar, amp, stand, etc;. Bless her heart :) . Well, I immediately got "guitar fever" and started saving my money. To date, I've purchased 3 guitars, a Fender acoustic, an Ibanez and a Schecter, and 2 amps, a Mustang III and an EVH 5150 III 2x12 combo. I also purchased a Boss GT-100 effects processor. I'm going to get my chops up and get back into a working band. What I've realized is that once you have music in your blood, you always have music in your blood. The wife now isn't happy with me, and anytime I bring up wanting a new guitar or amp or pedal she goes very quiet and quits talking to me. lol I have told her that I will always love many guitars, but only 1 woman. (Grins)

Then, I married my soulmate, who loves to support my passion, and my talents. Fortunate enough to have a significant other that just laughs at me whenever I come home with another piece of gear! The compulsion to collect gear dovetails with your video on taking lessons or teaching yourself - it motivates me to play. I used to get bored with just one or two guitars and would go months without practicing. With 10 or 15 guitars to choose from, there's always one calling to me.

For me it's actually Gear Acquisition Syndrome as it pertains to guitars, pedals (especially), and amps. Unfortunately my income doesn't support me in this venture. However, occasionally I get to indulge my GAS. Here's the kicker though...my wife is usually the one talking me into doing it. She knows how much I love my gear, and periodically I'll mention something I've found that is so cool that it has me all excited. Usually I'll also mention some expensive alternative that does this or that, or there's this cheaper thing that does the same thing, or close to it. She then tells me I should get it since it just eat me up inside if I don't. My latest bit of GAS landed me two small Fender tube amps and a solid state Fender amp, for practicing guitar, and come the first of the month I'm going to get one of the Fuzz pedals I want. I cheated the system by flat telling her about the items, in great detail, and throwing out as much technical jargon as possible. I genuinely get excited about these things to the point her eyes glaze over, and she probably doesn't want to hear my voice for awhile.

Our used market up here does indeed value a case with a guitar. It seems your used market is much different to the one's I've been in. For the used market I'm in, a case is absolutely a big deal. It's an easy $60-200 depending on the case. Also, there's more to be had if the case is original. A guitar without a case, especially an expensive one, is a big red flag for me. I won't go near a guitar over $500 without a case. A case is often the difference between one guitar being sold over the identical guitar without a case here. It's interesting that your experience is different. Great video:-)

Great vid! I thought I was the only one hiding guitars from my wife.... Lol. I had a crappy Epiphone Les Paul in a dessert burst and bought a Gibson standard same color so she wouldn't know the difference. I even went the extra mile to take off the humbucker covers to match that Epiphone..... Crazy. I think I'll throw them back on and gamble a little!

  • @charlieisamonster
    @charlieisamonster 9 лет назад +2

If you are buying a Gibson guitar, make sure you bore your other half for at least two weeks before looking at the Epiphone equivalent on line or if you pass a shop. Point them out at every opportunity. Bitch about the £300 price a bit - that never hurts. They will not be able to help look at the prices and probably be relived when you finally buy one - but get a gibson custom shop reissue instead.
Try not to let them catch you making too much fuss about it once you have it or being over precious when the kids come within 50m of its proximity. Big give away.
Also apply to Fender / Squire.....
So yes I've got GAS bad LOL

  • @johncrafton8319
    @johncrafton8319 7 лет назад +1

    Yes, I have GAS. Badly.
In December, I had zero guitars, having sold them all (or having had them stolen) years ago. For Christmas, I wanted a guitar, so my wife bought me a Fender acoustic. It wasn't enough. I needed an electric. Soon enough, I ended up paying $89 for an Epiphone Les Paul Special I P-90. Easy to explain to the wife, not costly, no biggie.
Once the wife and I split up (a month later), I saw a Squier Vintage Modified Squier '51 in Candy Apple Red. I had to have it. Seriously special guitar.
Ever since then, I've had GAS, and it's not going away no matter what I do. Each new guitar has a reason for it, and each one fills a niche.
    Now I have:
Epiphone Les Paul Special I P-90
    Squier Vintage Modified Squier '51
Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro II
    Epiphone G-400 Pro '61
Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s 60th Anniversary Edition
    Gretsch Electromatic 5420t
Chapman Ghost Fret Standard (came in last week)
    PRS Santana SE
Ibanez Artcore Expressionist A93 (just arrived yesterday)
Now, none of them are "expensive" guitars, and each is wildly different from the other - even the Squiers and the Epiphones. And since I'm neither married nor broke, I can do it without too much pain.
You see, I had the same problem before I got married - I ended up with a dozen guitars like an ESP LTD EC-1000 here, a Schecter C-1 there, a Godin xtSA over there, a Jackson Dinky dx10DX under the bed, an Ibanez RG320QM in the closet, a Fender Jimmy Vaughn Signature Tex-Mex Stratocaster back there, etc. While I was married, I whittled them down to one - the Jimmy Vaughn Strat. After my wife's best friend dropped it while cleaning the garage and broke its head off while also taking out a huge chunk of finish on the other end (I'm still pissed), I ended up with zero. Zero. For four years. None.
So here's the deal: I don't know if I can stop. I'm not even any good - I play like crap and just don't put in the time to get better.
So what do I do? I don't want to be a collector or a hoarder, but I've purchased far too many guitars in the last eight months, and every time I tell myself I'm done, it turns out I'm wrong.

Phillip! What are you doing?! Yes, I have GAS and my wife knows it too. Like you at one time, I've reached the magic 60+ threshold in guitars with plenty of amps and pedals to tweak my audio euphoria. What my wife didn't know was the tricks I used to hide my addiction. I had your site on autoplay while I was getting ready in the morning and THIS video came on at some point. My wife came into the room after hearing about the tricks you mentioned...I easily used more than half of the ones you elaborated on (more than once!)....and she gave me the stink eye and asked if any of that was true! Killing me smalls! All I could muster was a weak, "uh, one or two times I've done that." We've been married 2 years and she knows I had 25 guitars then...now I'm at 60+. Yes, I masquerade the collection well...but now I think she's on to me. Bummed dude. I love your channel but this vid was no bueno for senor Tim.

Yeah, I've got it... Played when I was a kid and put the guitar down for 22 years. Picked it back up a year ago and since then I've acquired: EVH Bumblebee, EVH Wolfgang Special, Ibanez acoustic, Schecter Banshee, Epiphone Lucille, Ibanez Jem, and a used PRS Custom 24 SE.
My wife was totally cool until she saw the receipt for the Jem... When she mentioned it I simply stated that most guys' midlife crisis is Corvettes and girlfriends - mine is just a few guitars... I got the eye-roll of course, but she's not mentioned it again. ;)
Seriously though after spending a few weeks with the PRS I'm seriously considering letting the Wolfgang, Schecter, and Lucille go and picking up a USA PRS. I'd keep the Bumblebee and Jem as those were two guitars that I've loved since I was 15....
Great channel, Phillip - I've learned a ton here - keep the videos coming, good sir!

My GAS can only be cured when I have acquired a late 80s Steve Vai Jem with swirly paint job and pyramid inlays, a late 80s Jackson V, a Gibson Les Paul that looks exactly the same as the one in the Sweet Child of Mine video, a Gretsch that Chet Atkins might have played, a vintage looking tele that I find on a trip to Nasville and an incredibly cool private stock PRS that hasn't been invented yet. Oh yes, and another early 90s Ibanez or Jackson which must have shark tooth inlays).
Although my new Dave Murray MIM 3 humbucker strat with a floyd rose is helping my condition there could be a relapse at any moment.
I'd like an Yngwie strat as well actually.

Hi, my name is Joe and I have G.A.S.! I have about 30 guitars and about half of them I have built myself. Buying parts is cheaper than buying it whole! I build with quality parts and sell the guitars at guitar shows so I can buy and build more. It is a self supporting cycle that can support itself & even make money. I make money and the wife is happy!

    Great video.
I never could afford to suffer from GAS. Nor would I risk having to sleep on the couch if I did. So I dove into the alternative...GBS, "building syndrome". Specifically, I learned as a beginner by building cigar box guitars. They don't cost very much to make, are fun to play, and can be sold for a profit. That makes my wife happy.
Once I learned how to make necks, fretting, installing truss rods, etc. I moved onto some standard 6 string electrics, lap steels, strum sticks, and finally cured my building symptoms with solid body electric tenors. All sold except for two which I kept for myself.
Since then I have moved on, and convert old tube amp chassis' from vintage/antique tube radios, etc. to guitar amplifiers.

People shop more when they are miserable but than regret the money spent and get more miserable. I used the same Les Paul for maybe at least 12 years. I was tired of it and the other 2 guitars I have acquired. I made some mistakes while getting the "wrong" guitars for me. Now my go to guitar is an simple version of Ibanez and I feel great about it. My other 2 guitars are acoustic Ibanez and hollow body electric Ibanez. I decided three guitars are the right number for me. I don't have the best guitars but they are just fine.

Not true, my friend. I can tell you that after medical and everything I barely break four digits a month on my cripple check, and I spend about six or seven hours a day on average scouring the internet for guitars to flip so that I can sock away enough to buy another guitar, pedal, or parts here and there. My lack of funds causes me more problems than buying the gear would. Right now, I'm about halfway to buying that Xaviere XV-550 I want because I just don't want to wait and save up for a real Epiphone Florentine. I am honestly glad you're coping well, but I think I might be getting driven crazy enough for both of us!

She is not so worried about pedals, and I have a decent modeling amp so I am only really GASsing over a small valve amp and cab in that area. Thanks for the videos, I enjoy them and like the fact that they are short, snappy and to the point.

It all started back in 1999, I was about 23 years old when I bought my first acoustic guitar, two years later I bought my first bass, both are gone... but that’s how I started my GAS.
In 2005 I bought my first USA made Fender de Luxe Jazz Bass, bass cabinet. Couple of years later a Stratocaster and a Telecaster both USA, in 2014 I bought a Duesenberg made in Germany.
I’ve had GK amp heads, Blues Jr. for my guitar amp, a Vibro Champ, a BagEnd 210 bass cabinet and a ToneHammer 500 from Aguilar.
I just bought another jazz bass and I’m saving my money to buy me a Sadowsky bass.
No, I don’t think I have enough gear.

The best way to effectively cure GAS is to. a) play borrowed poor quality guitars, b) go to a gig with one, c) kick arse, d) when a whole bunch of gear heads come up and ask you what you are playing, tell them its a lump of fuckin wood with strings on it that stay in tune. e) Laugh at anyone who thinks that gear and not technique will make you sound good. There you go, Cured, easy....

I think for me it's the dream that somewhere out there is the guitar that will make me suck less. I mean I know it's the hours of practice that really makes the difference but that doesn't stop me searching for that guitar that fits me perfectly. There's also the motivational aspect, if I'm stuck on something sometime switching guitars or switching back to my favorite changes things enough and gets things to click.

I absolutely have GAS. I've had as many as 30 guitars at one time. I've only been playing for a year and a half and I'm horrid. In the beginning I joked that I had 12 guitars and knew 3 chords. Today I know 5 chords and have 18 guitars. I sold quite a few because it was just stupid wrong to have that many guitars. Of course I made tons of money selling them ,,, yep sure did, wife was glad to hear that . In fact I've about got her convinced that I should buy and sell more guitars. haha. Get rich, in your own home watching guitar videos, and buying high, selling low. It's amazing.
Stupid Cases.... it's impossible to keep the cases. Where do you put 30 cases if you want to display all of your guitars so you can get that nice warm feeling of seeing 30 guitars. My answer was the attic. I live in Florida. There is no extra room anywhere. Finally I'm down to about 4 hard cases and 2 gator soft ish cases.
Something I've learned is to buy really expensive guitars because no one else will buy them. Dropping the price on a $2000.00 guitar doesn't help it sell faster on Reverb,,, unless you want to drop it to $299.99 and accept a bid of $249.99. +shipping. Once you learn this there is no use trying to sell expensive guitar.
I you really want to keep a guitar, buy custom. No one will buy those.
Stupid Guitar stands. When I first started I bought the little floor stands to put my guitars in. It finally got so bad with all the 20+ guitrar stands all over the place that I had to hang them on the Wall (s). Of course it took me 20 stands to figure that out. So now I have 20 each $10.00 floor stands stacked in the corner. Can't sell them because it costs more to ship them than they are worth. Stupid.
Amps. Reminds me of that old Sinatra Song. My Way... Regrets, I've had a few, but ........ Amps, I've had a few, but then again to few to mention. Randal, Fishman, Delta Blues, Fender Classic , Fender Classic 20 mini... So understand that I can't play shit. I'm truly horrid. I have a great ear which makes things worse and great timing which makes it even more worse, because I have absolutely zilch, nada none coordination. My hands are like Lead oven mitts. I've been trying to "strum" the chords to Sultans of Swing now for 2 months. I suck. It sounds like I'm slapping a steak down on the neck and strumming with a lump of jagged lava.
So, I'm waiting on a custom guitar from Crimson, thinking I need a Fender 15watt Bassbeaker. I know I need a Bassbreaker because Sultans of Swing still sounds like some sort of Tela Tubby song.
Also note that i'm old so there's absolutely no chance that I'll eventually be OK. Dead yes, OK not likely.
Oh, and no wife problems as I must now live in the garage with my guitars and guns. I added an air conditioner so it's not too bad. She was still living in the house the last time I checked. ha

I buy I want, when I want. If my wife wants to start bitching, I'll just start pulling out the $1,000 handbags and we'll have a look see! I buy used stuff primarily, and only guitars that really speak to me personally, never on the net for a guitar. She didn't believe this, so I sold one I that I just got on Craigslist and made a few hundred really fast and away went the questions. Hell, she has been frustrated that she can't get me a guitar, because as I have explained, every player is very picky about those, just get me a pedal. I'll give any pedal a go!

I have 3 guitars right now, 1 in Drop D, one in Drop C, and last in Drop B, built one for my sister and use that for E standard, and in the middle of building another for myself that will be in Drop A most probably or C standard. I want at least one guitar for each tuning... then once I have that, I'll find another reason to keep buying/building guitars, lol!

Oh man, I totally understand those stories. I'm single and I completely understand these stories. The fact that you're at least recycling them tells me you're not in that much trouble (because you're willing to let go). I'm 62, I've only been collecting for 10 months, and I already have 13 guitars. I'm already running out of room, and I'm very reluctant to tell family members how much I paid for them (because they don't get it).
At the same time, I went to school for a long time, worked hard, fought my way out of debt, and this is the first time I've been able to splurge in years. But I've also spent over $40K in 10 months.
I'll say this in my defense, at least I'm aware of what I'm doing. My mistake was starting out buying low-end guitars (which if I get rid of, I'll get only half the value). I didn't realize till I was well into it that I only want Custom Shop guitars. Am I possessed by the devil?

Here's a GAS story. I'm a lefty who just started playing year and a half ago. I got an Epiphone LP 100 to learn on. It went good. The LTD EC 1000 FM (the amber one with the seymore duncans) caught my eye, and I started stashing 20 bucks back a week. This was last october. I told her about it. What I didn't tell her was that I only put half of my Christmas bonus in the bank, and that I cashed out my perfect attendance bonus from work. I bought it on Jan 25th. If she did the math she would be like "$900 guitar, 20 bucks a week for 4 months... this doesn't add up." But I think she accepted it. But now I'm ready to upgade my Peavey Vypyer to an Orange CR120 and 2x12. She wasn't as accepting and told me I have a sickness, lol.

I’ve used the shoe and handbag simile when my wife asks “why do you need so many guitars?”, but I follow up with “but my guitars hold or increase their value vs. you shoes”. It’s important to seed this conversation with strategically placed “idle chat” during morning coffee every once in a while. “Hey honey, look at this Gibson Moderne on eBay going for several more times than I paid for mine”. You need to be careful not to be too specific on the multiplier for fear that she will run the math. Fortunately they don’t pay very much attention to our shit, and they aren’t interested in doing the math in the early hours.

I'm just glad that guitar companies and other gear companies don't make what I really want at reasonable prices. I would would be living in some fleabag motel and begging on the street. Like the new Elite Strat. Who buys a $2000 guitar with a plastic ('synthetic' bone) nut, string trees and a mammoth plastic case with plastic locks ? And ugly colors? And no hardtail version available. Better men than me I'm sure. Who still buys Gibsons since PRS fixed the problem with straight pulled strings and why? Self lubricating huts have been around for a long time. Why are they not on every guitar made when they are so cheap? I used to rent gear in the 90s to get my fix. It cost next to nothing compared to buying gear. Pittsburgh has a great store in Blawnox that rents all kind of gear, guitars. etc. That was a blast.

I just bought 2 guitars, A PRS Custom SE and a Baja Telecaster. I used 2 accounts that I direct deposit into to pull the cash. My guitars are in the basement and my wife knew I had guitars, but I don't think she knew how many. It helped that the new guitars came in gig bags.

I definitely have GAS. I cycle through gear on a monthly basis like it's not even funny. I'll buy a nice piece of gear and play it constantly for awhile and then I'll sell it and put that money towards another piece of gear.

.yes Phillip... I got gas. I buy a guitar put n the closet & when she's not home I'll pull it out & jam. after a few weeks I'll pull it out &play it w/her @ home. I move guitars in & out after awhile she'll notice but I don't lie to her ... I tell her I've had this for while ;)
my only thing is ... I think you need to keep the case for the protection of your guitar even if you only take it out on the road once or twice a year. I personally don't like those gig bags you have no protection, and you use strap lock on your guitar so it don't fall ... that's my point.

One of the benefits of being married is that I am not deep in debt because of GAS! She keeps me in check.

    Very cool video.
I just recently purchased the cobalt blue rg752. Same one you did a review on awhile back. I wouldn't say I got G.A.S. I was just looking for the right 7 string that worked for me. I went from the Ibanez rgd7421 to the schecter km7 to the Ibanez rg752lwfx and finally settled on the Ibanez rg752 with the low pro in cobalt blue. This entire process took about a year and a half's time but I am extremely happy with my most recent rg752 . Special thanks for your review which game me the push to get it. Not having a good music store around really forces people to have to take other people's opinions on gear. The closest guitar center is 1.5 hours away, which isn't bad but work limits my time to travel. Just a heads up, I recently picked up a Nikon d3200 for around $300 that shoots awesome video. With a tripod and good lighting that may work good for you?? Keep the videos coming.. \m/

The funny thing is I owned 3 Ibanez 7 when I did that video and that was the one I kept. I love it.

If you have more equity in your guitar collection than you do in your house, you have GAS. If you spend more time on the internet searching for a new guitar purchase than you do playing the 30 guitars in your music room, then you may be guitarded. This video is hilarious. Look hon, I got a $2800.00 guitar for $600.00--what a steal! My GAS will only be cured when I own a '58, '59' and '60 Sunburst Les Paul. If you have a separate checking account just to pay for guitars, then you definitely have GAS!

I started getting gas pretty early into my playing, started with a Dean Junior V in metallic orange, learned a lot on that. One day I walked into this pawn shop and saw one of those early 2000's LTD quilted maple top FM series guitars with the licensed floyd rose selling for 200$. I ran to my mother and told her I need to hock the V for this guitar, it's so much nicer and cooler looking, thank god she put up with me, because it continued like that for a while. Buy something, sell it to buy something else, over and over and over again. I've long since stopped, really only buying a new guitar if it fits a niche that I don't have filled (Steel String acoustic, Nylon, Strat)

I can't count the amount of times I have heard stories of wives hating their husband buying guitars all the time but as soon as the divorce hits, they love the guitars and take them all as part of the settlement. It's disgusting.
My girlfriend is kind of OK with my GAS, she will always try to steer me towards the sensible choices and occasionally moans about space but it isn't a huge deal.

Recently got GAS. I just had one crappy acoustic and an ibanez until this year when I sold my ibanez, bought a fender strat, a bunch of pedals, a new amp, and just yesterday I bought another guitar on ebay. It's a dangerous road.

simple rule. no more than 5 electric guitars at a period. no dicussion . 2 acoustics. i do allow myself 1 of each speciality. mandolins, ukes. basses. that sort of thing. a couple gig bags are all you need. when was the last time you moved all your guitars.

I have GAS because I'm always priming my interest by watching videos like these. That and the well-targeted ads everywhere I go online.
