    Not a bad video, I love that you're making content for FOE. Just a few extra things I'd note.
    3 major reasons for era'ing up besides what you noted, are rank points, GBG, and GVG.
    1) higher era = more rank. 10M points is a huge achievement for an IA player, while casual Jup players get it every month. So if you want to reach the top player ranks, you need to era up.
    2) Generally, your avg higher era player will easily reach higher attrition than your avg lower era player in GBG. E.g. an FE player can easily reach 60 attrition, whereas that would be quite a feat for an average IA town. Jupiter fighters can easily reach 80-100 attrition. Ofc, higher attrition in GBG = more fights, more strength for your guild if your guild cares about winning GBG, etc. There is also the matter of speed: your average SAAB fighter with nails and rogues can easily do 10+ fights without having to replace dead/injured units, making them VERY fast at hitting compared to an Iron player.
    3) To be relevant in GVG, you kinda need to reach PME/CE/TE/FE since that's where most of the rank points are, aside from AA (which usually requires SAV/SAJ troops to fight with).
    Also, your era up standards (like being able to do GE4) apply up to FE. Going from FE > AF and beyond is a very different choice to make, with a whole bunch of other factors (e.g. do u have enough attack/def for the huge leap in difficulty, do u have SC/AI Core, do u have enough continent map progress not to be bottlenecked at SAM, etc etc).
    Personally, I think for eras under FE, if you can finish GE64 on auto and your town is filled with event buildings, you should consider era'ing up unless you want to camp in that era for some reason.

    Part of playing this game with utmost efficiency is doing things in correct sequential order. Very thorough and good information on when to age up. I like that relevant information in aging is included. I was not thinking about the event quest requirements that might be a hinderance in getting quests done. Summer Event 2023 started today. I am going to wait until event is over.

      Event quest requirements can be a bit tricky. You can always check the FoE fan wiki for the questlines in advance to prepare, though!

    I never age up until I'm in the top 5 in my neighbourhood and have enough one-up)reno kits to upgrade all my buildings from day 1...... Then make a plan, determine which buildings you will be deleting, which you will be adding, etc.

  • @francesconati75

    This is one of those constantly asked questions, "am I ready to age up? / how can I know if I'm ready to age up?"
    If someone asks me, I usually provide a few evaluation items to make a wise decision:
    - is your current city space used in the most efficient way, and is your development hindered by the lack of further space (i.e. you could build a very good event building but you really have no tiles left)?
    - are you usually placed inside the top 20% of your neighborhood?
    - can you complete GE level 4 all in autofight without major losses?
    - do you have enough one-up and reno-kits to update the buildings you want to update?
    If the answer is YES to all of the above, I'd say it's time to advance!
    There might also be some other reasons for aging up, for example in your guild you are the only player in a certain age and the guild's treasury is lacking goods from the age you are in, in this case you might want to move as soon as possible in order to avoid the whole guild being impacted.

    • @UBERnerd14
      @UBERnerd14  2 года назад +1

      Absolutely! That's a great list there. I usually try to shy away from aging up because the guild wants you to, if you're happy where you are. However, if you don't know which age you want to move to, asking your guild where they need you can be helpful :)

      No, no and no. People age up without researching what the better ages are. As a consequence they miss the best ages to settle in to grow and end in ages that have crappy troops. The best way to progress in FOE is GBG.
      You have to find the balance between an age that gives you decent space to load up on attack buildings and utilise best troops in a GBG setting.
      Only certain ages match those parameters. Once past earliest ages and need to get more space? Progressive is the place to settle. RFCs are one of the best units in the game. They allow you fight better in GBG than any other early to medium age troop. It isn't close. You can grow your core GBs fairly rapidly by doing a few rounds a day in GBG ( a decent guild helps of course).
      As opposed to being in Industrial or Modern era with troops that are too evenly matched and make fighting fast and without changing troops in every fight much harder.
      The next age to settle in is Future age.
      To do this well, narrow the GBs, concentrate on attack and attack defense for attacking army, and stock that bank up. Far too many newish players get GB shiny object syndrome: getting GBs they don't need, yet. As a result they dump Fps into those GBs that would've been better spent in core GBs (Arc, Traz, Trinity, CF and a bit later AO).
      Of course if you are not a fighter then yes aging up can be done age by age but if you truly want to grow fighting is easily the best path to take. To do that you need to be in the ages with the best troops.
      Lastly if a Guild is demanding you age up due to treasury goods? They are not a good guild unless you're camping forever in an early age, otherwise? The decision should be yours, not the Guilds.

      I'm actually going to make a video on the Tiny Town soon. And the mic thing.... I left my better mic elsewhere and had to get this done, so I used a worse mic and made the mistake of speaking too loud. I didn't have time to re-record the audio so I just had to stick with it :(
      This video was on a much tighter schedule than what I usually try to target, so it isn't quite up to my standard.

    My thumb rule for aging up is 3 things:
    1. able to autobattle GE 1-4
    2. top 10 in neighbhorhood
    3. atleast 5k for each of the ages goods.
    I do age up slower than most but found that it makes the game much easier

  • @bob_greene
    @bob_greene Год назад

    some of us have goods & unit thresholds also as markers for a good time to age up; a few hundred units of your current age can be good (some might prefer even more depending on just how useful they are); probably about 2-5K of each age good in the lower ages has been stated as good levels; keep in mind that starting about modern age, prior era goods are also needed; so, adjust accordingly if U want to avoid using up space by producing goods U have bonuses from the campaign map (U may not have the space, especially if U're keeping it open for event build/sell)

    • @UBERnerd14
      @UBERnerd14  Год назад

      I think at this point, many players are getting goods mainly from event buildings than goods buildings, but definitely solid advice to build up previous age goods first

  • @yohanneslong1970

    There's one special exceptions about best time to aging up, and that is from SAM to SAAB. SAAB units perform worse in SAM GBG than in SAAB itself, so in that case Monday after end of GE and GBG session is the best.

    if you have already dived into the ocean get out of it asap. but probably you have already known about that. anything is better than that.
    I prefer aging up in the beginning of the a new event. event quests demand hiring a lot of units, which I higher ages ease to get through story quests instead of grinding of gbg

    • @UBERnerd14
      @UBERnerd14  2 года назад

      If you're in a higher age (AF/OF+) you can get stuck though where you can't unlock techs to get the residential, goods, etc. buildings needed to complete quests because you're short on special goods. You will probably still be fine, but it's something you should consider if you're in one of those higher ages.
