Back in 78 to 80 my dad worked as a mechanic at his buddies dodge dealership, he decided to buy what turned out to be his last new vehicle. I wanted him to buy this lime green macho power wagon but he wanted something with more seats so he bought a ram charger the exact same color as in the video, the paint color is called cashmere, I remember that because it came with a little touch up bottle of paint in the glove box.
What was funny was it was a 79 model special ordered by a customer that got lost for over 6 months, it was in a railcar that was left abandoned on a siding by the factory when it showed up the 80 models were already in the showroom and the customer had bought something else so my dad got it for a steal, last yrs model, employee discount. I even remember the sticker price because as a 12 yr 10,555.99 was a lot of money.

Just sold my 1977 California Custom Dodge Street Van, white with green shag carpet & wood paneling, whiskey barrel captain chairs, mini bar, queen bed, dual sunroofs, CB, 8 track, bubble windows, Cragar mags with white letter BFGs & a healthy 360 4bbl with side pipes ✌💖☮

The best thing for dodge and the ramcharger was Ford holding back on the Full Size Bronco because of the gas embargo. But once 78 came around Ford crushed it with the 78 Bronco. I owned a 79 Plymouth Trailduster (Ramcharger) and a 79 Bronco and the Bronco was far superior off road and on road, great comfort and ride. The Trailduster rode like a brick.

    • @leepullen8892

What was it about the Bronco that made it so much better? Did Ford just put better hardware on it, or a different design?

@@leepullen8892 Just built better, stronger and was far superior off road. The Ramchargers interior loosened up and made a ton of noise and squeaked allot. The road noise was at times unbearable. The 4wd system was far superior on the Bronco. Even driving the Bronco it felt solid and strong where the Ramcharger was like being inside of a tin can.

Toyota didn't have a factory 4x4 until 79 and this version of Dodge trucks came out in 77, so I would say that Toyota was copying the domestics. However, Toyota was able to come in at a lower price point which brought the fun to a younger generation.
