Very well done, I rarely sit through a full video review at almost 30 minutes but I did here. Your analysis of both games and expansions was deep and well thought out, you clearly are a huge fan of the games, and it shows.
I know that a lot of people think getting the upgrade is not a good option but I must say It looks more immersive to me. Maybe it because I have a soft spot for minis.
Great video. I like how you review board games so I am excited about further videos! Especially the 3v3 Uprising video. I think you would be the first one to review the 3v3 mode
Thanks for sharing this look into the game and your initial thoughts on it. Dune Imperium is one of my favorite games, and I'm very much looking forward to picking up Uprising eventually, but maybe not for another year or two since I feel like I still have plenty to explore in the original game first. Also, I hadn't even thought about customizing how the previous content gets incorporated to Uprising. Maybe by the time that I pick up Uprising, there will be a general consensus on how to best incorporate the previous content.
Great video. Tried the game once and playing again tomorrow! So far it's been an absolute blast, even for a guy like me that isn't that much into euro games.
Great review. I found interesting that compared to a lot of seasoned players you considered Immortality as not mixing well with this game and actually your points make sense. Still I think both expansions and the base game have a lot to be saved and that there must be a way to mix everything up properly in a comprehensive experience. Immortality for instance could be implemented by scrapping experimentation(which tbf I didn't have a problem with, as I thought it made card play less autopilot in the early game) and the overlay by offering an alternative method of progressing the track(maybe by calling back a spy?).
Great video. After about 50 games of the original base game and just 3 with Uprising, I find that I like the original better. Maybe I need more games, but I find the combat rewards to be much less impactful, and the use of worms to be to costly and unappealing due to it and the rewards being uninteresting. Also, getting swordmaster is too hard due to the lack of resources. I find that Uprising focuses too much in getting the tracks, reducing the variety of strategies or aproaches to victory. I've won just one game out of the three I played because I played the Emperor, who is clearly OP and broken. I hope I can get a better opinion after mor games.
Im very happy with my Dune Imperium + Raise of Ix + Immortality. I only discovered the solo mode not very long ago, and that brought the game even higher in my list. So, no need for something else, Tbh. At least for now 😊
Excellent review. Our group has only done the 6 player mode so far, a couple of times, and opinions are mixed. I love it, but then again I was on the winning team in both games, and with both factions. Each has strengths and weaknesses that *must* be considered and worked around in order to bring about a victory. I'm excited to try the 4 player mode, whenever a couple of us decide to stay home on game night. 🤣
Hi there friend, I'm not sure about your local store, but I do know some Canadian pre-orders are shipping (such as from 401 games). I expect in the next coming weeks it'll be available in store for Canadians.
Personally, I feel it improves many aspects except for combat. I wish they didn't bring the need to combine 2 signs together. Otherwise the base card you can buy is great, each faction really fits better to theme and has its own playstyle: Fremen: combat and drawing Bene gesserit: drawing and spies Spacing guild: spice gathering and power play Emperor: politics and intrigue
Ya totally understand your critique, the game definitely has an emphasis on combat. I find it as a good place for player interaction (including matching symbols), but I understand why people may prefer DI's lighter focus on combat. For my group, the combat phase is often the highlight of a round, with high engagement, and intensity. So helps create memorable moments.
Would you describe to me how engaging is the combat? the combat is decided by who has the most amount of blade symbols right? that amount of power can suddenly change?@@BigPasti
Hi friendo, yeah essentially the blade symbol represents your strength. If you can imagine, every turn you may have the ability to participate in an 'auction' where you put in troops. You don't have to, and the goal is to put in as few resources into this auction, but since everyone else has the same goal, the winner is often decided by thin margins. The 'sudden change' typically happens during a part of the game called the 'reveal' which is when you show what cards you have left in your hand, which can bump up your blade value, or by 'intrigues' which are random mystery cards with various benefits. My group and I rather enjoy this combat, because having a narrow victory feels amazing and you're always thinking on what other people have and can do in a given situation. I hope this helps clarify! @@Diogolindir
it does, thank you. Im eager to learn more about the game. Im hoping to get a copy but Im waiting for it to be released in spanish so I can recruit more of my friends.@@BigPasti
I like Dune Imperium (original) + IX (i like IX). I will bever buy Immortality. I agree with 18:46 (removing infiltration carts) but i am not sure what to do with the rest. No shipping track = no technology. Any thoughts? Ideas? Or are you happy with "shipping track"? What are your experience with it?
My friends and I have played a ton of the 'Merakon Mix' which is the tailored method of implementing IX from the designer of the game that implements a curated deck list. (boardgamegeek.com/thread/3213458/merakons-house-blend) Overall, it's very good, and is an improvement from implementing the full expansion without considering the chemistry of the cards, however the removal of the intrigue spot and the additional contract can be felt in our games. Of course there is the 'jumpstart' contract, but I find it as a bandaid fix compared to a natural evolution. If you have the time, I recommend trying the Merakon Mix and let me know what you think!
Thank you :). First, i am going to try the Uprising in a tea house so we know it is worth spending money. Combining it with IX might be a factor.@@BigPasti
Rushing Solari for rushing Swordmaster as an early game strategy, seems like a group think thing to me. It's in my experience definately not necessary. Doesn't sound solved to me then.
I must admit that the release of D:IU pissed me off. I acquired D:I + Rise of Ix 2 months before D:IU release announcement. I payed more for D:I + RoI than what I would have paid for the new one. I played D:IU once and although I enjoyed it a lot, I won't be buying it 'cause I already have the others (which fortunately I like a lot too).
The only thing I would add to Uprising is the Atomics tokens. Maybe a way to add Dreadnoughts to the game, but not a big deal. Just the Atomics to keep that Imperium row flowing
Ya, I have a mixed heart with family atomics. Sometimes it's great to refresh a 'boring' row, but more often than not it's a denial tool. I wish there was another mechanism to cycle the row, cause atomics do give some 'feels bad' moments to players.
We just play with two rows of 5 cards. Lowest cost cards move to the right. At the end of each person's turn, a sandstorm eats the two rightmost cards. Keeps everything flowing.
@@BigPastiPrecisely why I like them, it adds another form of interaction and some tension as well - will you try to get enough persuasion to buy that sweet card or would you rather not take the risk of someone else grabbing it and therefore nuke it ?
Well payed... I mean we'll played. Sorry for being honest I am totally new to your channel but first impression is rather bad. From my perspective there is no such thing like perfect game - even the best designs out there have some flaws. Yet, your first 4 minutes of the video is pure unpolluted stream of awws and praises. Absolutely no single point of possible doubt. Only astounding delights and this game, as any other, has its flaws. I came here expecting something like a review or comparison, what I got is one sided... advertisement? Maybe your content is just not for me, dunno but rarely do I see such uncritical videos about games around the web. However if it is truly your opinion - good for you and I am glad for you that you have found game of your life. Cheers
If you’re going to publicly accuse someone of being payed for their opinion you damn well better back it up with hard evidence. Nice breakdown! The game is to be played and I am excited for the future of it.
Can I fit the base game and uprising in the Delux box without any other expansions?
Great review - well done
