I love Parc Astérix. It's a lot better than Disneyland Paris imo. I love the Astérix comics & seeing the little village of indomitable Gaulish warriors being brought to life is beyond amazing. Anything that encourages kids to read is fantastic in my eyes. Just walking around the place as though you were simply a fellow villager is wonderful. The humour is clever though: like pantomime in the UK, it's ostensibly for children but there's a lot of double-entendres just for adults, well hidden from innocents. I think my favourite ride there is La Trace du Hourra a bobsled roller coaster which is longer than the only other 1 of its kind I've been on, Avalanche in Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The latter is 18m ( 59ft) high, 354m long (1161 ft) & has top speeds of 72 km/h (45 mph). La Trace du Hourra is 31m (102 ft) high & 900m (2952ft) long. It's slightly faster (60mph or 97 km/h) & has a lot more twists & turns than the Avalanche so seems even more thrilling. It's a long time since I've been to Parc Astérix (not my choice, poor health unfortunately) & there have been more rides added.
