- Ruthschebanen, which means Roller Coaster in Danish, celebrated it's 100th anniversary in 2014 and is the third oldest coaster in the world after Leap The Dips at Lakemont Park in Pennsylvania (opened 1902) and Scenic Railway at Luna Park in Melbourne, Australia (1912).
Tivoli Gardens is located in Copenhagen, Denmark.

I freaking love this roller coaster. The airtime in the back is pure insanity and it's so smooth! Definetely a top 10 ride for me.
i only rode in the very front seat when on it cos i didn't bother to go to the back lol
It’s an airtime machine
you think that has great air time come to America to the parks with insane coasters the air time is insane....
@@CK2012Sure, really makes sense comparing a 100 year old roller coaster with modern American coasters!🙄 Rutschebanen is so much fun, but I guess you'd never understand...
@thk8784 I have been on it it is fun ride been on a few times when I over there. I even bought a entry ticket and paid the something around $8 USD just to ride it. I will ride it again when I go back. Will not be for several years.
We do have old roller coasters in the US there is a big one THE GIANT DIPPER at the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz California, it is a great ride . Millions have come to ride it since it opened in 1924. The family's ride legacies made history in June of 1987 when both the Giant Dipper and the antique carousel were designated National Historic Landmarks by the U.S. National Park Service.
There is another one CYCLONE that was built in 1927 the second steepest wooden coaster in the world in Coney Island New York. I have yet to go on it.
A classic coaster that we hope will never die, I believe there is s brake man on this coaster
Yes it has brake men on it
Yes there is
Yes but I think don't like to brake.. this wasn't meanted to be so fast ahahahaha
There is. I know i am late but he took my hat
yeah lmao idk how he manages to stay on with all the airtime on this coaster
Such a wonderful coaster!
- Intense airtime in the very back row
- Super smooth for its age
- Wonderful atmosphere with great theming
- Charm like no other coaster
- A noteworthy history
There's no doubt this was the best coaster in the world when it first opened at the beginning of World War I, and it's still one of the greatest rides in all of Denmark!
Northern Rides you mean in all of the world
@@primelxcify
Back when it opened, I think it probably was
No coaster I know has aged quite like it. It is amazing.
Wow, the lift hill is fast, even for a 102 year old coaster!
How is it 200 yrs old? It clearly states it celebrated 100 yrs in 2014...
@@alexhein1738 no haha
You mean even for a coaster that's not 102 years old
They updated it
@@blankman3935 its still fast
This looks way more intense than what I had expected from a 100 years old coaster!
Razet then how old is it? It says so in the description and I watched an interview with a Bakken official spokesperson and he said it too
Razet it's from 1914, so yes actually 103 years old.
Razet You won't answer now, when you realized you were wrong
1% it is
I tried it and it's fun :D
Rode this 44 years ago. Still my favorite! The last tunnel was terrifying. No light, can't see anything, but you've already had a couple of drops within tunnels. So you hold on, and hold on... And then you're out and it's over. The terror comes from a joke. It's the drop that isn't there. The anticipated drop. The anticipated drop in the dark. Great design! And yes, it was smooth. Glad to see it's still there.
I rode this yesterday ! One of the best rides in the park.
i rode it today
@@erikberkemanvinnerborg91 hi :) sorry if i bothered you, i just wanna ask how the tickets stuff work 🥲 because idk if they sell tickets directly in the park or you should buy it online🥹
My sister and I rode on the front row of the second cart, just behind the brake man. In one of the dark sections, he bent over backwards and yelled, making both of us jump! It remains a wonderful memory.
I've been on nearly 900 coasters and this is my favourite. No, it's not fast or scary, but it just makes me SO HAPPY every time I ride it. Can't wait to go back.
Tivoli Gardens is the definitely the Best place in the world to visit!
This ride was decades ahead of its time. The cable lift, the side friction, the indoor, outdoor track.
This roller coaster is so nice!!
It looks very smooth! :-D
That's what I thought !
Sooo smooth
It actually is. Pretty smooth.
Smoothest woodie in Denmark! Even thought Falken is from 2004 (90 years newer)
It is smooth :P
Trust me, it’s not
I love everything about this ride. Huge quirk factor for having cable lift hills and a brakeman.
Omg this was my first real drop coaster when I went to Denmark with my cousins!
I cannot even explain how fun this coaster is. I've ridden it many times, always a great ride and glossy smooth ride. The airtime is incredible, always sure to fling you out of your seat.
The airtime in the back is pure insanity! Going to ride this bad boy next week! Can't wait! :)
DrDewott i know i am late. But did you like it?
EuropeCoasters Incredibly good in front and back. In the middle it's pretty mild. Also the airtime in the front is actually better than in the back
DrDewott Nice! I live in Denmark so have ridden it many times! It is still one of my favorites in Denmark, just behind Piraten, Dragekongen and Lynet
Nope, no upstop wheels, just a brakeman
@@Filipolis It has actually been known to lift off of the rails sometimes if the brakeman is bold. Never dangerously, though
I just went here today and it’s the first roller coaster in tivoli ever made and it’s one of the oldest coasters in the world too plus the theme park is one of the top 5 oldest fun fact...
This thing has some insane airtime and is highly underrated. You are lifted out of your seat at every drop in the back to the point where you’re almost standing up.
I love this rollercoaster. I have been to Tivoli 3 times. One time there was no line at this ride. A couple of other kids and me went like 5+ times in a row.
Rode this ride over and over when I was 7 years old. It's great at night going into the pitch black tunnels. I was very scared initially and got braver and braver over the course of the summer I spent there.
I LOVE the way this looks. It's fun, it's thrilling, and it's vintage! So smooth. And it doesn't have 10 loops to make me sick lol
This rollercoaster never gets old😂
Kids loved this and each brake man makes the ride that little bit different 😍
This is something I definitely want to ride. It looks really fun and looks like it goes fast. That chainlift DOESN’T MESS AROUND AT ALL. Hoping I can ride this sometime.
This is seriously one of the most fun coasters ever build. It’s so smooth. I just can’t believe it was first build in 1919. Glad the rebuild it when it catchend fire.
This is the coaster with a brake man, right?
TFord Yes
TFord yeah!
Yes, and it seems like he was going easy on the brakes, some go to hard and can make it slower. I've never been on one but apparently its a thing
i think it’s impressive how he doesn’t fall off considering all of the g forces the ride gives
Nice! What is the dark ride like? I don't hear screaming, so I assume there are no hills...twisting and turning? Whatever, it's a wonderful-looking ride.
The dark section in the end only includes turns with a decent amount of laterals :)
I love this ride!!!! I go on it every time I'm in Tivoli! But I'm moving so I won't be going to Tivoli as often.. So sad! I also love the Odin express, demon and the monsoon.
Those are all such good rides! Prob my favs too.
The Odin Express has been destroyed, sadly.
Super Sej Kaj but it will be replaced by a modern version with basicly the same circuit.
@@guitarkris Jep, it's gonna be called Mælkevejen right, i've also heard that it's gonna be wilder than The Odin Express, so that's pretty neat.
AMAZING Outdoor/Indoor Side-Friction coaster!! 😍 It HAS to be the fastest Side-Friction coaster in the world!!
While some scenic railways have side friction wheels, I believe this one doesn't
This was the last roller coaster that i did on tivoli. This coaster was the coaster that helped me get over my coaster fears. (Even tho tivoli is the first theme park I have been to as I remember) so when you go to tivoli I really recommend this coaster.
I live this ride so much! I've been on it! Such a magical experience
This was the first ever roller coaster I went on in my life in 2018 while on holidays. It may not seem like those inverted-twisted like coasters others ride but I loved it. It was a very good first experience for me with roller coasters.
I’ve never been on one either and I’m a bit nervous is this a good mild one to deal with?
@@tono3930 yes! its fast and fun, goes up and down with turns, but it's not smth an adrenaline junkie would go on like those inverted coasters. There's a bar they push towards u that u hold on to and its a pretty good starter coaster. Idk if it's changed in 4 years since i've been there though
Rutschebanen has awesome airtime!! Love this ride
Man going on this as a kid was the best!
i really love this rollercoaster i really love tivoli loved to go there when i was a kid with my grandma and her husband and my big sister i really hope somtime i can comeback into tivoli with my mor and dad and my sister or someday i may have kids and take them to tivoli love from a dane
This is better than most rides.
This looks surprisingly smooth for such an old coaster.
One of the greatest roller coasters I've ever ridden. You get a good brakeman the airtime is absolutely biblical. And it has theming!
This ride is hella smooth, considering how old it is! Either that, or the camera stabilization is incredible 😅
To those, who doesn't know. This is the fourth model since the first one in 1843. It opened in 1914 and is one of the oldest still-running roller coaster. This year, Rutschebanen can celebrate it's 110th birthday.
On the ride, I felt like I was going to fly off. 10/10 TOTALLY RECOMMEND
This ride has most of my childhood memories in it. I would cry if they remove it.
A very unique ride, love all the tunnels!
I love how the operators stand up during the ride haha
i have been to tivoli, and the rollercoaster is even better in real life! :D
When I go to Tivoli I go on this one first because his is one of my favorite rides
Holy smooth lift hill bat man! That's a smooth lift hill!
This looks like so much fun!! I would LOVE to experience this one day.
My first time on a roller coaster was on this one in Tivoli, such an unforgettable experience!
Well, this certainly is the "Grandfather of the Matterhorn Bobsleds".
I just wish Matterhorn had more drops like this
Matterhorn sucked. This looks so so much better
Electron Studios Disney needs to do something to make the Matterhorn smoother. I love it, but last time I rode it it was like sitting on a skate board going down a cobblestone street. And that was right after a refurb, too. I don’t mind a rough ride (such as most wooden coasters - part of the charm in those cases), but the Matterhorn is just painful.
I was in this exact ride today! *4 Times*
this is the first ride I went on in tivoli, and it’s amazing!!
if the demon (rollercoaster) didn’t exist, this would probably be my favourite!
Been on it, so amazing! ❤️ DENMARK
Same Ive been in it so much as a kid
One time i rode it with my cousin and the things to keep you down and safe didnt work so it wasnt holding us properly. But luckily this ride doesnt make extreme turns so it wasnt dangerous for us at all. But it was just scary to try and hold ourselves down so we wouldnt jump too much. It was actually quite fun😂
I live in denmark! And this is my favourit coaster!
Nice ride... likely the inspiration for Disney's Matterhorn since Tivoli itself is the inspiration for Disneyland.
I already tried that rollercoaster and it's so fun i cant stop when i already started 😁
It’s so cool that i live so close to Tivoli
Classic Side-Friction model...and an Indoor/Outdoor one, too! :-)
Best roller coaster in the worls. And I have been on at least 40
That is the fasted lift hill I have ever seen, and on a 100+ year old coaster too! This is a fun looking ride too.
I’ve tryed this 1000 thousand times its so fun
Wow, what a zippy lift! It literally flings you.
Theming really killed the ride this time.
This looks like a fun family coaster
Wow, this is a really good layout and really large for a coaster this old
Old but gold!
I love how the lift works like a detachable chairlift but was build before they were invented!
This coaster is extremely appealing. There aren't a lot of well themed immersive wooden coasters.
I rode this with my cousin, now because of Corona I can’t go there but when we finally can go, I’ll try this!
i remember this one from my youth, unexpectely fun even if i dont find this kind of stuff fun at all
I love the bumps
Looks like a nice fun ride
I rode this, you actually get pretty decent airtime, more than basically any Disney coaster I've been on. Fairly low bar but still.
I saw the time thinking it would be a short ride, but it looks real fun.
We Got a Brake man on our Scenic Railway at luna Park melbourne ..australia,and you coaster boys know that
This is such a Kiddie coaster (does not compare to the extreme thrill rides in the US)
but every time I come to Denmark I pay the fee just to ride this classic. It is no thrill ride by any means but it is a classic must ride when you come to Denmark
Reminds me of the Alps ride at Willow Grove Park. That one also used a lift cable instead of a chain. It also had two brakemen.
Its sad when a scenic railway coaster gets torn down because they're a rare coaster type and a major milestone in roller-coaster history, so thanks for shining light on one I didn't know about
Nice video once again!!! :) keep it up guys really loving your channel
I rode this when I was like 7 and I was terrified. Came onto youtube to see a pov of it to see how bad it really was (tbh i was expecting it to be really mild) but I am actually impressed that I rode this at that age because I have always been terrible on rides.
That was a fun little coaster🍋🍋🍋
You have to ride on the very last row on this one. While the front has good airtime, the back has OH MY GOD I BROKE MY A**-
So good!
gahhh.... i remember back when i was there during a trip from norway, i wanted to try out that ride but didnt know where the entrance is, accidentally ended up on some kiddie ride
It lets me imagine what the Alps at Willow Grove Park must have been like. Oh, for a time machine!!
Looks like FUN!
That was the first one I tried. It's so fun
Looks so smooth for being a friction coaster that old
I went on this today so much fun!
Great Ride.
Jeg elsker dennnn😍
Translate: i love it so much😍
that's one fast lift hill
I rode this coaster many times last week (September 2024) even after 110 years including running during Nazi occupation 'The Old Lady' still packs a punch. She may be small but she's such fun and I giggled like a fool the whole way round. Tivoli is just the best.
I love old classic wooden coasters like this. This is what a woody is all about. These hybrid coasters are just all fakes :P
These hybrids are saving bad wooden coaster and making them amazing rides
@@a_cowwithlegs I agree. Modern roller coasters are objectively better than this, but you still have to appreciate rides like this because without them, modern coasters wouldn't exist.
@@RemixedVoice I wouldn't say modern coasters are objectively better. There's shit old rides and shit new rides
I've tried this, it's so fucking funny. Once you started you can't stop. It's like cocaine xD, you just want to do it again all the time.
Agreed. This is probably the most addictive roller coaster I've ever ridden.
Omg i am going there with my bestie today
I went on this about 5 times in a row with my friends in 2018
Fun ride!
Looks sick
