19:09 There's a reason why they didn't include that classic Muppets show. They're still having a few copyright problems with that. They've been having that since the unreleased Season 4 DVD. During DragonCon 2015, Steve Whitmire playing Kermit said "I know. Send your complaints to Disney." McClellan explained that not only do the music rights have to be cleared, but the musicians who are still alive have to be paid too. She also said that they're still working on clearing all the music rights and that they want people to keep asking about the last two seasons of The Muppet Show, because they want to release them." The Muppet movies and recent shows were easy to put on home media because they were able to finance the copyrighted work as quickly as possible.

Disney Channel and Disney XD shows appear on Disney+ 30 days after the season finale.
Also, Hercules: The Animated Series only had one season with 65 episodes. For some reason Wikipedia thinks the episodes that aired on ABC and the episodes that aired on WB/UPN affiliates are different seasons despite them airing in the same broadcast season.
    Anyways great video. Very in-depth.

17:30 another example is Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
For the first 2 and a half seasons (plus season 5 opener) the series the episodes was made and released in Ancheonic Order. While this made things easier for newcomers it to jump in it made things confusing to people who watched regularly(especially since all the Clone characters look and sound near identical)
It seems overtime the creators behind the show regretted that decision as not only do later Star Wars shows have linear events but also they released an official timeline. Yet there’s no option to view the series in chronological order.
In addition the service lacks a playlist option so you couldn’t set up a chronological order manually like you could when the series was on Netflix

Glad to have you back PieGuy! You made some really good critiques on Disney+, especially regarding the 'Coming Soon' programs, missing episodes, and out of order lineup for some shows. The latter two are my main issue with this service.
Besides that, I'm pretty contempt with Disney+. I'm at least glad they included a lot their older content, especially regarding their animated shorts, movies, and TV shows.
As for recommendations, I'd say it mostly depends on how big of a Disney fan you are, and which of their content you want to see the most (old or new).

All 65 episodes are on Disney+ but Disney decided to combine episodes from different seasons into the three seasons listed. If you scroll through the end of each season and count all the episodes, it totals up to 65. It's also the case for shows like Darkwing Duck and the original DuckTales.

In my opinion, getting all of classic 2D Disney, the modern 3D Disney (Tangled and newer) and Pixar is worth it just for that.
Then you also get Star Wars, Marvel, Fox, and Disney Channel shows like Gravity Falls, Star vs FOE & Amphibia.
ON TOP OF THAT you get The Mandalorian and other great original shows.

Really I agree with everything you said, however, two things I want to add is I would love to see them add an adult section which would have stuff from Fox and have any and all special features listed under the tab for whatever it came from. "There are no Marvel movies that aren't set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe."
It's funny you should mention that, because in the UK version, they actually do have a small handful of the Fox X-Men movies (specifically the original trilogy, the two PG-13 Wolverine movies, and Days of Future Past) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

  • @imaginary122

I think it's great! Also, they should consider adding an "international" tab when they acquire more of their back catalog shows such as Alex & Co (Italian Series which I recommend BTW and rumoured to be added in April), Penny On M.A.R.S (The predecessor but it is actually in English), Then there are shows that are listed but they haven't added the rest of them yet, Evermoor, Soy Luna, Violetta. They will be adding more to those shows as they "acquire" them their international so IDK. I love Violetta and Soy Luna as they are dramas en Español with ENG subtitles thank god Disney! There is no current ENG dub for Soy Luna rumor has it it'll be added soon and dubing the music. If you prefer that not me though. Lastly, there's a French DCOM not many know about (I learned so much about their foreign stuff as soon as I heard that there were others shows I haven't seen in the U.S.) it's called "Mère et Fille: California Dream" not a bad movie I liked it. It also, has an appearance by Laura Marano sadly dubbed her voice in French and also I watched it in French didn't bother to find subtitles. But, if they add it I may just rewatch it.

Random side tangent...Your point about the pricing of a movie ticket vs Disney+ really got me thinking. Onward doesn't seem to be getting the movie theater traffic I expected (I work at a movie theater) and I bet part of the reason why could be Disney+. They aren’t counting Tangled before ever after as episode 1 of the series because it isn’t. It is marketed and treated a a Disney channel original movie. It did set up the series and is in fact the pilot but in the same way Return of Jafar was a pilot for the Aladdin series. They aren’t splitting it up to make it look like there’s more content, since Before ever after premiered in 2017 it’s been branded a Disney Channel original movie.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is some editing of some shows and movies, like removing the symbol on Grunkle Stan's fez removing "Don't fuck with the babysitter" from Adventures in Babysitting. (though I think these are versions that aired internationally or for tv, so it's more about choosing a version instead of Disney changing it right now)
edit: which is weird considering the disclaimers they did for things like Dumbo

Pretty good video. It'd be great to see you review HBO Max when that comes out in May, maybe even CBS All Access when Viacom decides to buff that up. Some other quirks I've noticed:
Another show stretched from 4:3 to 16:9 is Rescue Rangers; doesn't negate your point but thought it was worth mentioning
Some of the Fox movies like the 2 Garfield ones and the Sandlot were on there and removed; I think it was due to licensing them to other services and their contracts not yet expiring
The Phineas and Ferb Marvel and Star Wars specials are available separately, yet they're also under the show, albeit divided in two half-hour parts
Disney moving the Lizzie McGuire reboot and Love, Simon show to Hulu due to "mature content", which is more a problem of them being indecisive with what belongs where rather than them rejecting those and allowing the Simpsons on their family-friendly platform

When Darkwing Duck was first put onto Disney+ it had every single episode minus Hot Spells because that one was banned like back during the time when it aired, I was a baby at that point in time so I don't know if it only aired once then got banned or what, I just know it was banned due to Gosalyn selling Darkwing's soul to the Devil but it was easily available online, I've seen it multiple times. Not sure why they didn't include it but put a warning or something on there, from my understanding the episode Dead Duck saw a ban at one point, I don't know the entire story on what happened with it but it made it onto the DVDs as well as onto Disney+ so I guess selling your father's soul to the devil is worse than the main character dying, being denied entry into Heaven so he's sent down to Hell & he escapes only to be stalked by Death. Yeah, Dead Duck also has questionable content. Back on track so I can get to my point, sometime in April, I woke up around 4am because my allergies were really bad, I was doing a lot of cleaning which kicked up dust & made my allergies so bad that I struggled to sleep so 4am, figured that'd be a good time to fire up some Darkwing Duck & enjoy some of my favorite episodes that didn't make it onto the DVDs given they released like half the series onto DVD. I saw that they removed a good chunk of the series which is confusing, they took off the first two episodes which is kind of important, it explains why Launchpad is there & sets up the series as a whole. The rest of the show although you're begging for answers onto a lot of things, you can watch out of order & just be confused because from my understanding, the show was aired out of order. You just learn to accept that you'll either not know what's going on or that you're gonna run into the introduction episode later like Just Us Justice Ducks, that's a special where the villains team up & the heroes team up to fight them but watching on the DVDs, a lot of the introduction episodes to them aren't included such as Neptunia's & the episode that explains how it is Darkwing & Gizmoduck know each other since he's from Ducktales. Point is, I'm sure the screwed up airing order desensitized all Darkwing Duck fans to shuffled continuity or whatever since the episodes that explained why this is either came later or some of them never saw without having to look it up online. I watched it on Toon Disney as a kid but forgot most of the series & got into it again in my young adult years, 2010 to be exact so I bought the DVDs & only saw half the series, only to be confused by a lot of it but then ended up tracking the rest down online. I have no problems with however Disney+ presents the episodes & they have every right to not include Hot Spells, I get how controversial it is. It also featured a magic school & I know that sort of thing doesn't vibe with a lot of people, throwing in the devil probably just made it that much worse for that crowd. What frustrates me is them removing a large chunk of the series, it was available before, why deny it now? They removed stuff that's both on & off the DVDs so yeah, I got to legally view some episodes that I probably only saw online which was great, I love supporting stuff best way I can but I'd rather have more be available. Sorry, this kinda dragged on, I am very passionate about series that I love & I'm fortunate Disney+ offers a legal way for me to watch & support shows that hadn't been available for me to do so for a very long time but seeing them remove a portion of a show scares me, has me wonder if they did this with other old series that don't quite see as much traction.

They should legit add Song of the South to the service. They can age restrict it and put all the disclaimers they want about not supporting certain depictions, but it's a piece of media that's sought after by diehard Disney fans. Besides, some people may just want to watch the 2D animation segments...

I finally watched it for myself, and I personally feel that the controversy is way overblown. Sure it takes place after the Civil War though it isn't specified, and it does seem to act like slavery never happened, but the movie's heart is in the right place and it wasn't intended to be racist. I will say that the movie itself isn't that memorable from a story perspective, which is maybe another reason it's not been brought back out, but Uncle Remus is a charming character, and the animated sequences are fun as well as a reminder of how well the animation holds up. It's interesting that so many repulsive and trashy films that no one should see are made, yet this is what gets people worked up. I guess Disney really wants to bury elements of its past.

      @Looking Deeper Into The Movies
I’ve always thought the movie didn’t deserve such an infamous reputation.
I’ll admit that my ancestors have owned slaves in the United States. We didn’t own plantations, but they were single servants for homes. I don’t know how my ancestors treated them outside of the fact that they were mere “property” in their eyes, but I’d hope there’s a chance that they held respect towards the person.
It is a very sad topic. One involving whippings, verbal abuse, ankles being sliced so slaves can’t escape, and the separation of family members. I think these topics weren’t touched upon due to them being inappropriate for children. I don’t even know if a family is going to walk out of the theater and say “Gee, slavery was great! I don’t know why we abolished it when everyone got along just fine!”
At the same time, Uncle Remus is treated like a godfather to the white kids. He’s portrayed is a good light as far as I’m aware, and a bigger controversy I think is that the actor for Remus was unable to attend the film’s premiere in Atlanta because no hotel in the area would allow him to stay due to his skin color.

    My currently observed Disney+ blindspots
Pre-Even Stevens programming, non-DCOM (stretching back to The Disney Channel’s founding)
Gaps in Disney’s television animation arm (Some One Saturday Morning shows, Fillmore, Aladdin, Jungle Cubs, 101 Dalmatians, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Legend of Tarzan, Dave the Barbarian, The Buzz on Maggie)
Jetix originals (excluding Power Rangers and Digimon for obvious reasons)
Fox Kids originals in Disney’s ownership such as NASCAR Racers. They did good with the Marvel shows of course. Apparently Big Guy and Rusty the Robot for example is Sony’s, but I’m sure there are others that haven’t seen daylight in quite a while

What, no Jungle Cubs or 101 Dalmations?! I know about most of the rest. BTW, Tarzan has licensing issues, so that one makes sense.
BTW, you forgot about House of Mouse and the pre-Ducktales 80s cartoons.

The biggest reason I don’t have Disney Plus is simply because I never have been the biggest Disney fan. Sure, I like some of their stuff, but I didn’t grow up as a hardcore Disney kid like most people and don’t have much investment into very much outside of Pixar, a handful of Disney movies, and maybe a few Disney Channel cartoons. Other than that, I have no good reason to get it, and I don’t watch this stuff everyday. Also, I kinda don’t like the feeling of how big and market controlling Disney is getting. Because of this, I only plan to get Disney Plus if it is somehow given to me.

I really want Disney+ to have Home Improvement. It was made by Disney aired on ABC and has one of its biggest stars as the lead. Not to metion being one of the most popular sitcoms of all time
Also i want to pitch a show to Disney+ where it's about a stormtrooper right before the sequels but she's is 100% self aware that's she in a TV show and in Star Wars and she mostly pokes fun at things happening during a "straightforward" star wars story. Think the Family Guy Star Wars specials meet Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead & deadpool for the action stuff.

Honestly Disney + should have some animation original’s for a show if anything than live action .That’s one of the things I find interesting about the originals is that there live action stuff.Probably the sparkshorts but that’s it so far and short circuit

That is definitely Interesting. Another thing with their animated offerings is when it comes to foreign co-productions. For example, 101 Dalmatian Street, Legend Of The Three Caballeros, and the English dub of Marvel Future Avengers all came out in 2018 in other countries (Britain, The Philippines, and Japan respectively), yet Legends came out in the US on November 12, 2019 , while the other two shows came out last week.

I heard that Disney+ is making a show based on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, along with a new Chip 'n Dale cartoon show. And by that I mean more like the classic animated shorts, not a new "Rescue Rangers" series (the Ducktales reboot will already cover that). Chances are we'll have plenty more animated series on Disney+ in the coming years.

I’m proud to say that thanks to coincidental guinea pigs Star Wars Resistance and Big Hero 6 The Series, newest seasons seem to come 30 days following the end of said season. Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure finishes on March 1 but I don’t think was listed for March additions, so maybe it’s a little more than a month
