I’m interested in how your Mr Cool heat pump install went and how it’s operating. Is it wired differently into your solar?

I'm working on that video now. It's just wired into the 240ac breaker, nothing special. I bought it because I went all solar.

I live in Texas and every time I get a quote for a professionally installed solar system the payout looks between 16-20 years. Does that sound right to you? I don't know if I could realistically install it myself since he have a steep pitch and it's a two story home. Thanks!

It's really all dependent on your loads. The more efficient your house becomes, the smaller the system becomes. That's the key to getting quicker pay backs.

What type of inverter are you using?

Enphase M250, S280, IQ7a. I have been slowly upgrading my system.

@@stem_saving1644 is there some kind of automatic cutoff that prevents backfeed to the grid if power goes out? Or is this strictly all off grid? Sorry if I missed that information. I've been looking into Enphase b/c I like the simplicity of the microinverters

There is a safety requirement that requires inverters to go down within a predetermined time if the grid goes down. So, mine is grid tied.

@@stem_saving1644 So your components are solar panel ---> microinverter ----> 60 amp breaker (in main panel) and that is it? Very interesting. I was thinking you would need an Enphase smart switch or something else. But if that is literally all you need, the microcontroller installed on each panel could be a huge cost savings if you were not worried about battery backup.

That's pretty much the idea. You also have some junction boxes on the roof and an emergency disconnect and combiner... but you get the gist of it.
It's not rocket science. Just have to understand nec code electronics and mechanical.
