  • In this episode I give my opinion on what is the best sled on the market. I talk about all of the manufactures: Ski-Doo, Arctic Cat, Lynx, and Polaris. I talk about what I like about each chassis and then go into what I don't like. This could help you decide what snowmobile to buy for this season.
As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, I can provide you with some information on popular snowmobile brands and models, but I do not have access to real-time information. The best snowmobile for you depends on your specific needs, preferences, and budget. It's essential to consider factors such as your riding style, terrain, and the features you require in a snowmobile. Here are a few reputable snowmobile brands and some of their popular models:
Ski-Doo: Ski-Doo is a well-known brand in the snowmobile industry, offering a range of models for different purposes. Some popular Ski-Doo models include the Ski-Doo Renegade, Ski-Doo MXZ, and Ski-Doo Summit, each designed for specific types of riding.
Polaris: Polaris is another respected snowmobile manufacturer, known for its versatility and performance. Models like the Polaris Switchback, Polaris Indy, and Polaris RMK are popular choices among snowmobilers.
Arctic Cat (now owned by Textron Off Road): Arctic Cat produces a variety of snowmobiles, including the Arctic Cat M Series for mountain riding and the Arctic Cat ZR Series for trail riding.
Yamaha: Yamaha offers a range of snowmobiles, including the Yamaha Sidewinder and Yamaha SRViper, known for their reliability and performance.
Lynx (by BRP): Lynx is a European brand owned by BRP, the same company that owns Ski-Doo. Lynx snowmobiles are popular in European markets and are known for their quality and design.
Yamaha: Yamaha is also known for producing snowmobiles, with models like the Yamaha Sidewinder and Yamaha SRViper being popular choices.
To determine the best snowmobile for your specific needs, it's essential to visit dealerships, speak with experienced riders, and test ride different models. Additionally, be sure to consider factors such as engine size, track length, suspension, and additional features that may be important to you, such as heated grips and seating capacity.
I recommend checking the latest reviews, visiting manufacturer websites, and consulting with experts in the snowmobiling community to get the most up-to-date information on the best snowmobiles currently available on the market.

I will deal with the recalls because I think it is the best on the snow right now.

@brentcook24 Me too they are making a lot of new stuff and the recalls have been mostly minor stuff getting the bugs out. I have rode a few new Ski Doos love the suspension but do not like the riding position and to much ski pressure don't like how the front end feels. On my VR1 I feel so comfortable fits me perfectly and love the light steering feel. I am aware you can do some work to get the ski doo to handle differently but I straight do not like the riding position.

I gave up on Polaris reliability and their tracks don’t hook to do bow ties in crappy snow. Ski Doo is ok. My 146 Solid turbo Alpha does bow ties on the snow banks in the parking lot and is indestructible.

I think it is all preference. Personally I like the Polaris chassis for my style the best. But I think they all have their pros and cons.

I think they will be especially when they have the 858 engine in them. They are all really good in my opinion!

I have a 22 arctic cat m8000 154 with the monorail. To me its about the hardest to ride, very unpredictable. It is real easy to get up on edge, thats true. But sucks after that. Its pretty much the monorail that is the issue i believe. Rode a 17 Ski-Doo, 155 9r pro and a 155 boost pro. All 3 felt better and easier to rider then my alfa.

I think it's personal preference it depends what you are used to and it depends on conditions and riding style. I think a lot of guys think it is terrible in technical terrain because it doesn't cut a sidehill into the hill because of the one rail, then I have heard guys who will only ride an alpha in technical terrain and absolutely love it. It's all preference in my opinion...

I hear a lot about polaris spark plug fouling issues.

I haven't fouled a plug in two years, but sometimes in break in they foul plugs. But I am sure people foul plugs on every brand.

Enjoy these videos and hearing your perspective. My 2017 Axys 163 was the first sled that I've owned that felt completely natural. Being a 6'4" 220lb guy I added a 2" riser and that machine just feels balanced in all situations. Some Zollinger offset spindles, lightweight can, and tunnel chop improved that feeling without any downsides. I have a 2020 Gen 4 Skidoo Expedition for taking the wife and the rider forward position is perfect for carrying a passenger with gear. I recently rode a G5 155 Summit and it felt so strange. Awesome fit and finish. Great motor, but that far forward flexible steering post with the pivoting rear arm felt very strange. It sounds like the Matryx chassis only improved everything great about the AXYS. I'm looking forward to upgrading and building a lightweight NA 850 or 9R 165. Great job on the set, mic, and camera. Nice setup.

all are great sleds. but sledding days are limited and betting towed or heli'd out is lame so i can't see buying a polaris due to the stop rides, recalls, etc.

The 800 c tec makes 165 HP which is the same as everyone else's 850 engine and the cat is in 2nd place behind Polaris as far as weigh currently the catalyst on the other hand is going to be 400 pounds wet and is said to have 185 hp with the 858 which is more than a 9r and not to mention lighter ... So far behind I'd say no and as far as turbos go you can turbo an na sled for similar price to a factory turbo and it will make way more power so it's really a wash

    • @brentcook24
      @brentcook24  9 месяцев назад

I could agree to some of that but many of the cat riders I know didn't buy the catalyst this year because it is a 600, it wasn't all that exciting to a lot of them. We are all speculating how great the 858 will be. I am talking about what I have rode and have experience on. It would be hard for me to sit on a video and give my honest opinion on something I have never rode before. I owned a 22 alpha and thought it was outdated compared to the Polaris and Ski-Doo. The catalyst might completely change my mind. Don't get me wrong I don't think Arctic Cat is bad in fact I might try an 858 and see what it's all about, I am just saying I can't say its amazing when I have never rode it. On the aftermarket turbo thing, there's a lot more reasons than just price to want a factory turbo. I have a factory Polaris Boost right now that is at 300hp so power isn't a problem with factory turbos because of tuning.

2025! Catalyst 146" 858 with Ohlins suspention and new garmin display will be the sled. In 2021 i had Khaos 165" and had to change 20 sparkplugs in 800km trade that sled for a 2020 Alpha MC 154" full jaws exhaust ES start a bit heavy but really nice sled no problems just start and go! then a had the 2023 Shredder RE 3700 bone stock just munster finger throttle, Best Chassi Polaris and that was the axys just point and shot , Best Engine/suspention LYNX 850 smooth like butter super fun sled , But i still like the cat it´s a really nice sled and i think the new Catalyst will be EPIC!

That’s strange I bought a 2022 Pro and a Khaos plugs were fine all year. Maybe they fixed for 2022? I mean it ran rich for first 11 hours with the added oil for break in. Did it do better after the 11 hours? My Khaos is past it but the Pro still smoking tough through break in.

My sled did not run bad, it was always 1 sparkplug that failed on coldstart, 10-20sec after start one died, i could just drive away on 1 cyl and the other one will fire up after a few sec :P really wierd when the engine was warm i run like a champ, the polaris dealer changes the reeds after 180km, but they would not let me try out the 2020map so i got mad i trade it to a cat!
