Hella resident here. The town name actually comes from the Icelandic word for caves "hellir" which are found throughout the rangá river that runs through the town.
Hi Jennie what a great service served with passion and joy.please continue to inspire. The way i see Iceland is just a small version of all the goodness of Norway ie Fjords valleys waterfalls long roads spectacular sceic roads.surprisingly in Iceland there less railways!
We stopped in Höfn and had dinner at the langoustine restaurant. We walked in and the host/server asked where we were from and we said Seattle. She said in flawless American english "i love Grey's Anatomy'....Turns out she'd lived in WA state as a teenager. Fabulous dinner and great service.
I'm going to Iceland first week in September. Traveling solo. I'm staying in Kirkjubaejarklauster and can't pronounce so I'm glad it's off ring road because if I had to ask for directions no one would have any idea what I'm talking about. :D
Hi! LOVE your vids. On our way to Iceland in August to hike a couple of the famous trails. I only have 2 days before and after (arrival day and departure day) and I am looking for a friend who lives there to hike the volcano with me. All of the tours don't work for the flight schedules. Can you please direct me to where I can find someone.
For starters great accompanying pillows to the sweater/lopapeysa. Second, Jens looks jacked. Third, what's the difference in pronunciation between Hof and Hofn? Hof as in the Skaftafell region where the newish hotel is located.
Churches are very prominent in Icelandic architecture. They are seen all the time in videos and still shots. My question is why is it that we never see school buildings? Surely there must be quaint small school buildings. What do they look like? When were they built? Do they have a typical "Look". Jeannie, can you publish an all inclusive schedule of the different events that are held in the towns of Iceland? It was interesting to hear of a few of them on this video but it would be a great help in Iceland Planning to know about, for example, the dates for the lobster festival in Hofn. Phil Zivnuska

It is not an easy language to master, but such a beautiful country and the people are great.
Husavik is included in one of my favourite movies also! :) The parody/comedy movie called "Eurovision" :)
Jaja Ding Dong! Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga... so many great scenes!
I'm writing a story with one scene set in Iceland. Not having been there this video helped me tremendously. Thank you.
