"The last thing we need right now is a baby to take care off, but also when they grow up they could help us on the farm" the ancestors from earlier centuries with 20 kids and a farm were just whispering in your ear
It was a wider problem than just my building, somehow one of three phases had failed in my street. Of course I checked the fuse box and flipped all the switches on and off before calling maintenance and the power company. As well as checking the building basement to make sure there weren’t any shenanigans going on 😅 The lights just came back on, I’m definitely interested to hear what the problem ended up being! Cute side note - I had a flashlight, and somehow my cats also got hold of a flashlight, I had an extra one sitting on a kitchen counter that they had never shown any interest in before this!
Not even joking, I NEED THIS TO BE A LEGACY. As a farm person myself I thoroughly enjoy watching this series and will most definitely cry when it ends 😂
Hey! You should put patchy down! He always helps with the gardening stuff and he can help clean. A little silly, but I always put him on my farm plays. It can get overwhelming, but at least you don’t have to tell him what to do. ALSO! Make friends with the birds, they will come and help eat the bugs if you enable gardening help. ❤
@ patchy is the scarecrow that comes with seasons! He is just a decorating item but if your sim interacts with him and talks with him, he will come to life. He tends to farm work and cleaning for a couple of hours and then goes back to rest on his post until the next day! It’s nice to have him when you got big ambitions for a farm life but don’t want to have to control everyone. ALSO! To make a gardening club that meets at your house lol.
If you place the roof piece away and then put the thatched roof decoration, then put the roof piece back, it should be at the correct height. Hope this helps😊
So, I work for my local historical society, and one of the things we do is maintain this old farm and farmhouse. The house was built in the 1870s, but the family lived there from the 1850s (they had a log cabin at first) up until the 1980s, when the last of them left the farm to the historical society in her will. The reason I bring this up is that there's this old hutch in the kitchen, and it's unsubstantiated, but there's a family myth that it was built with the wood from the wagon that brought the first family members down the Oregon Trail. And that hutch actually looks quite similar to that little desk! So it might be simple, but it looks suitably rustic and old fashioned!
After your first episode, I started my own off-the-grid challenge. I gave her a tent, a pond, a fire pit and some prairie grass. She now has a 64 tile house and 200K. She's thriving. She has 4 solar panels, 4 wind turbines and one water collector. I had to laugh when I realized I recreated my husbands childhood, because his family lived off the grid for a couple of years when his dad had a mid-life crisis, and moved them up onto a mountain. They built a cabin with no power or running water. My husband peed into a funnel... That was the extent of the indoor plumbing. The girls in the family had to use the outhouse. They were never able to be fully sustainable, but the stories his family has are amazing. Needless to say, he goes out of his way to make sure we live very comfortably. Scarred for life. 🤣
@@someoneelse4710 I finally got bees so I could harvest the honey. It turns out, a bunch of my garden helping rabbits' favorite gift is a drink, and honey counts. Happy bunnies! Unfortunately, almost all of my plants were perfect by then, so the evolving help the bees offer, wasn't needed. Keeping them calm was easier than expected, once full friendship was attained. I also used crocus scented flowers to assist. Mite treatments as needed also help. I discovered they go dormant in winter, but still produce beeswax. Do it & have fun! I accidentally created a golden chicken. Had no idea what I was doing, an suddenly, poof! Then ALL my plants were perfect. Oops...
The farm looks so nice now, love the pond addition! Maybe you could name a sheep "Cotton" or "Cloud", I know it's basic but it just sounds so cute to me. Also, please I'm begging you to interact with Abby the cat I'm so worried about her. 😭
I always forget about this cottage living feature so im putting this here: you can do errands for henford on bagley townies and they might give you special upgrade parts for upgrading barns and coops and stuff! The errands can be kinda tricky but really fun for the stories that come with them, so maybe it could be a fun addition to this series! Love this vid simsie!
my little guy's litterbox is actually next to the front door too, the entryway is his space in general (it's pretty big) and it's definitely pretty neat for taking it out, never thought about how it could affect guests but we also don't get that many 😅 it's a purely practical choice
It might also positively impact the cat's confidence! Cats like their smell to be in the high-traffic areas, they are territorial. So if your kitty is shy and is often scared of newcomers, you might wanna add a litter box to the lounge and/or kitchen. No smell to you, if taken care of properly, but a big boost to your cat's wellbeing xx
I want to do this! I don't have nearly all the packs so mine will be more limited, but I play the digital Clue/Cluedo game on steam and I want to at some point grab screenshots of how they have the rooms in that version and build the mansion lol. I love that someone else is excited about that XD
I would like to request Arlo and Archie as names for the mini goat and sheep respectively, after two of my favourite animals at the petting farm I volunteer at
I am absolutely loving this series! It's inspired me to play more with the farm/ranch type stuff. I always forget to use those because I feel like they're very situational to the type of gameplay, and I usually play in a city or a big town and always forget about all the cute little farming stuff! I can't wait for the next one!
This is gorgeous little farm. I'd love to see some kind of of the grid summer cottage by the lakeside pack on the Sims 4. Something with a functional well for water, of grid wood burning sauna (which also could be use as a heater) and generally more od timey/wood burning stuff. Maybe even wood chopping as a chore for it. And yes, lakeside lots would be awesome.
I've started playing an off the grid and living off the land game now too! It's been so much fun. I'm so happy to have patchy the scarecrow they are such a life saver for my garden.
I started an off the grid/simple living save after watching your first video and since then I've *just* finished a year in the game. My sim is a spellcaster so my goal was to build up a successful farm and have the next generation be able to fully devote themselves to magic. But actually because of the boosts given to micro and tiny houses my sim was able to build up so many skills that helped make money (she's not rich but she's not poor)quickly that she had time to become a Virtuoso spellcaster. She married Morgyn Ember and they now have a toddler. She's been abducted by aliens twice on the farm and Morgyn just got abducted as well and might be pregnant 😂 She also had a shotgun wedding before she married Morgyn but the first husband got eaten by her cowplant (I've never seen one in the sims so I didn't realise it could kill your sim), but then he was a really helpful ghost who worked on the farm so it worked out well 😂 Anyway, thanks for the inspiration to start a new game! ❤
I love love love that house and the layout of the farm. I have started my own off the grid challenge. My Sims are currently living in a camper trailer.. They are fishing for money. We are saving to get their animals but they do have their garden. Looking forward to the next part.
14:59 “‘wow kayla that’s a really light color,’ yeah. it is” 😭😭😭 i thought she was gonna explain how she layers the paint to make it blend in, but no 😂 she just accepted defeat LOOOL
If you've got the handiness and parts [parts are the real problem, still voting for adding a recycler or using a community lot for one], you can upgrade the water collectors/windmills to be more efficient.
"The last thing we need right now is a baby to take care off, but also when they grow up they could help us on the farm" the ancestors from earlier centuries with 20 kids and a farm were just whispering in your ear
The 20 kids was also so they would have adult children, and not just a graveyard.
Earlier CENTURIES? My granny was the eldest girl out of 22. TWENTY two.
@@MsAsh3070 that wasn't the case for my family, tho my friend's dad is one of 9 siblings so... let's say i can't count
You could adopt a toddler or child so you don’t have to deal with the infant stage but you can still get an extra hand for the farm
Ah, the Anne of Green Gables approach. Careful or she may turn out to be a day-dreamer.
kinda wild to have a kid only to make them work at the point youre willing to SKIP their childhood but i guess it works😂
pro tip: toddlers can nurture insects
woo child labor!
This is GENIUS! 😂
not simsie posting an off grid build as I’m in my 4th hour of a very weird power outage where everything works except for the lights 👀
Have you checked the lights in your fuse box? Sounds really odd for everything else to be working!
it might be a tripped breaker if it's only one thing/area. hope u get it fixed :)

You dont need the stand mixer. There is a box where you can check off "use prepped ingredients"

yes!!
She's playing simple living as well. Need the dough, prepped veggies, etc.

for the mini goats and sheep you could name them different types of bread eg. rye, bagel, muffin, toast, focaccia
