The entire Powerage album is full of underrated bangers. Riff Raff, Sin City, Down Payment Blues and Gimme A Bullet to name a few.
Gone Shootin' slaps as well.
Whats next to the moon
So true, such a great album. And what an intro: Rock and Roll Damnation --> Down Payment Blues ---> Gimme a Bullet, incredible songs, massively underrated
Agreed my fav studio album of theirs
Gimme a Bullet wins for me! Girl's Got Rythm from HTH is gold too!
The live version of Riff Raff (first track on If You Want Blood You’ve Got It) is one of Angus’ best performances 🤘
That whole album is raw bluesy magnificence.
....but she gave it to anybody!
Yes
Best live album...... Dead or alive I've got a 45..... 🇳🇿👍
It’s a bit of a nod to Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well” opening riff, which I didn’t notice until a few years ago.
Definitely. When I heard this one played, I thought "Why is he playing a Fleetwood Mac riff?"
More then a nod!
Yeah, it's pretty much the same riff!! Still a brilliant song.
Danny Kirwan lick over Peter Green lead
Let’s Get It Up is an underrated riff by AC/DC. Simple yet effective.
Agreed.
Brian's best vocal..
@@bombercountyblues The man had an unparalleled snarl.
Yes. That one is tricky
Great riff, thanks for the breakdown. In my eyes, "Ride On" is the most underrated AC/DC song, as a whole - maybe classic rock song ever, even. Cheers!
Yep, 100% agree with you!
I just took a listen, that's a fantastic song! Not what I expected.
I like how clear Angus playing is in this, that vibrato is so killer
One of Angus’s finest solos
Never attempted to learning it until a GIRL asked me to teach it to her. Great song! One had better tap their foot to stay in time. It's slow, and timing is key.
"Squealer" takes the cake in my opinion.. Angus went WILD on that song. Best and most underrated classic rock song ever. "Ride On" is very calm and melancholic as well though.
Sounds very much like the Peter Green intro on Fleetwood Mac's 'Oh Well'
I read somewhere that Malcolm got his inspiration from that song
Great riff, in keeping with "Oh Well" and "Walk This Way".
Definitely!
Criminally close to Peter Green’s Oh Well. Great riff regardless
Powerage is a great album. The VH1 live version of "Gone Shootin" is just phenomenal.
Angus and Malcom are responsible for some of the greatest riffs of all time. Riff Raff, Dirty Deeds, TNT, Whole Lotta Rosie, Long Way to the Top, Jailbreak, the list just goes on.
First album I heard was Powerage. My uncle cued up Down Payment Blues and I was hooked. I often use this riff as a warm up because it incorporates more than one technique. Your spot on with the upward picked note.
Bro....this is my favorite AC/DC song ever! Thanks for making this one!
Yes I love how much acdc content is happening I love this song ever since I was little I had wanted to learn this thanks man awesome job
Love the Angus riff and how he starts with an up-pick. Thanks for sharing and creating the Angus legend course too!!
Great video!! One of my favourite AC/DC riffs, tricky to get under the fingers at first but once nailed it's a fun riff to play! Thanks for showing some love to underrated AC/DC tunes
I want to know how to clean up my technique/phrasing/picking. You are knocking it out of the park with these explanations, and I'm planning to sign up for the course.
Great video lesson. This is such a great riffing song. What a riff. Great song. I love the tone you get on this video.
Landslide off of Flick of the switch is the most underrated song and riff in their entire catalogue , they go flat out from the start and a killer solo too .
Always reminded me of "Oh Well" by Fleetwood Mac. Great riff! Cool video. 😉
This and Riff Raff are my two favorite guitar riffs to play. Love it!!!
Heck yeah brother. Just preordered the masterclass. I am ready to channel my inner angus 😎
Man, great series Robert! I do enjoy and look forward to each lesson that you provide!! XO my good man!!!
This is actually my "go to" AC/DC riff. Always impresses bystanders.
Great vid, and love the Justice hoodie, my first concert.
Aha! It's the up-pick! That's why I was struggling with this lick. Thanks man!!!! Great tone too.
great in depth lesson. Nice control.
Awesome 👍, I've never tried to play this one, thanks!
Had tix for AC/DC given to me for X-mas. They announced after tickets were out that Axl was taking the lead vocals. I was skeptical having heard some of his more recent live performances in what was that current line-up of GnR (no Slash, no Duff). From the opening track they (Axl included) killed it. They had a good dosage of the Bon Scott era (Rock and Roll Damnation, Hell Ain’t a Bad Place to Be, Live Wire, Sin City, Rosie..to name a few). Riff Raff in the encore between Hells Bells and For Those About to Rock. I wasn’t able to see Brian Johnson (or Malcom) but that was a straight up ass kicking rock and roll show full of killer AC/DC riffage. 🤘🏼
Perfect riff to pick. Robert, I'd LOVE to hear you cover the opening Jimmy Page lick for the solo on I'm gonna crawl. Just the first part of it, you know before he goes off. That walk up then those Pagey pulloffs, I so enjoy trying to attempt the beginning of the solo. Just for fun.
One of my favorite riffs from the Highway to Hell album - don't understand why they did not play it live more...
I’ve been an AC/DC fan since I was 15 in 1990. And that is probably one of the only very few guitar riffs I don’t think I have tried to play. It is absolutely excellent and I am playing it now following your lesson thank you
Thanks dude, super awesome riff. Peace n love!
If You Want Blood from HTH is my fave.Great channel Robert, love your work.👍
Hail Caesar is actually a pretty banging riff. Along with some newer ones like Hard Times and Rock or Bust
Great song. Great tone. Great lesson!
insightful knowledge and lessons apart, your tone is so good! is this from some real amp recorded? may i ask the signal chain please?
Great classic Acka Dacka riff! Well done Rob.
Totally awesome!
Your tone is on 🔥. Between Angus and Barry Goudreau listening lately I want to bust out my sg and Marshall.
So... I say to myself I'm not learning any more songs... gonna fine tune the ones I know already. Then you go a put another awesome tutorial up for another awesome track, and off I go again! Honestly tho, love your lessons, always clear and easy to follow, and I love this song. Might be a while before i get up to speed tho lol. Thanks for the video... always appreciated
Love this album as many have mentioned. I also love the song soul stripper from the jailbreak album as a deep cut.
Reminds me of Oh Well Fleetwood Mac?
Its amazing how much I pick up just watching your technique
Awesome video!! Anything and everything from Powerage would be cool!
Great job, Rockert Baker!!!
Excellent video. I can pickup my guitar and play this now. I wish youtube was a thing 40 years ago
As a Blueser I always loved this song. They never play(ed) it live ever since. Very close to Oh Well from Peter Green but the flat 5th note (Bb) does the trick here. I never played it really round. So the correct picking seems to me like an eye opener. Thanks!
I’m going to buy your Angus young course. I’ve been playing since 1990. And not too bad , but I have a full time job so haven’t got time to work this out for myself , even though I could with time. But I don’t have time on my hands anymore , so I’ll buy it. I’m fed up with trying to play like eric Johnson ,I could play cliffs of Dover pretty well at one point with a mixture of alternate picking and economy up to speed and clean but it takes practice every day to keep that level up , and I can’t keep it up due to lack of time in my life. .. I’m not having fun on guitar anymore . But AC DC when I was playing it at 15 years old I had fun and that’s what guitar should be , fun !
My favorite riff of theirs no doubt. So happy this video was made. Girls Got Rhythm is another banger.
its one of my favourite riffs! Cool man!
Such a cool lick!
1:39 .. and if we're not enjoying the time we're picking what are we supposed to enjoy??!!
Great lesson and yes, a killer lick!!
The intro to SRV life by the drop is the same lick, been playing it for years awesome 👌
I like flick of the switch riff as well....I play it religiously when I warm up for some reason...and high voltage also has a fun groove to play
Well done! How did you get that great sound? Which amp did you use? Thank you so much. Greetings Thom
Hi Robert
I love playing that Riff, thanks for the vid.
I was wondering if you know how Angus does his part on Who Made Who?
Cheers
Rob
I close my eyes and I hear "Oh well" Good old Fleetwood Mac.
Dude I love this video, I'm a HUUUGGGGEEE ACDC fan, I think you should talk about some songs from powerage or Flick of the switch those albums are so underated.
Powerage could well be my favorite AC/DC album. Solid stuff!
The intro into The Razor's Edge sounds pretty challenging as well.
I'd say Can I Sit Next To You Girl has got some great and underrated riffs and is generally an underrated song despite being one of my favourites when I used to listen to a ton of AC/DC back in middle school/first years of high school
Nice video and great riff choice, that song rules!
Was just listening to the Dirty Deeds album this afternoon....top tunes
yep. agreed. it’s the one that took me the longest to master. i don’t think it can be talked about without mentioning Oh Well by Fleetwood Mac. great to see someone rose with they love for it. 🤘🏻🖤🤘🏻
Has that "Oh Well" kinda thing
This is the video I needed
Man I was hoping for beating around the bush. My favorite ACDC tune! Kick ass!
I remember trying to learn this riff from a tab around 20 years ago. Man only like 6 years ago I had the idea to start on an upstroke. It kinda worked from this point on but I still lack the rocknroll feel.
Beating Around the Bush was one of my favorites! Back in the day.
Love this song
I was actually trying this riff earlier last week, it's deceptively tricky 😆
Excited to learn with the course!
If I could choose anything for you to look at, I'd like to see Shot In The Dark or Realize solo. Angus is doing more sort of chordal solos in these songs.
i like high voltage and for those about to rock the best of them all. however, this was a great choice for a riff lesson
-) I learned the intro to the Big Gun song. And I myself, without tabs and other clues, only spied two notes there in the tablature. Just hands somehow played, and away we go. -)
So it goes!
You make it look easy if you can tell I can't play guitar I surely would love to I own a bunch of them but still can't play but that's me you keep up the good work you're doing a good job
Gone Shootin' off of Powerage would be awesome to hear or anything off Flick of the Switch.
Reminds me of World Keep On Turning by Fleetwood Mac, especially live. Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, of course. Peace ✌️
Always loved that riff.
My favorite is Hells Bells. So laid back...
"What's next to the Moon" can make for a great cover song in one's repertoire!
VH1 1996 live version of Gone Shooting features hell of an intro.
Yeah, cool video ... Cheers 🤘
This rules!🔥🤟🔥
Nice video 🤘🏾 If possible can you do a video for Gone Shootin' from the Powerage album? 🤘🏾🤘🏾
One of my favorite AC/DC riffs to play and always a challenge to play correctly.
I've been playing AC/DC's Beatin around the bush since high school in the early 80's. I know the whole song and love stumping so called,AC/DC players when I whip it out. Cracks me up.
ur a national treasure! thx for breaking this down!
This is what i usually paly to get all warmed up...i know if i get it thumping and bouncing me hands are in sinc and it sounds soo damn good when the amp is snarling..Powerage right into Highway to Hell. Whatever they were tapped into was magical
Opening with a downpick is also counter to the rhythm, which is, to use a fancy word, iambic. Or to put it another way, if you only play the second beats, you get the melody. If you only play the first beats, you get the harmony or the root note. That's a big clue that you start on the up pick.
YES!
You make this s**t look so easy, dude. Lol. Great choice, the Bon era is full of super bluesy treats that are hard to beat. And sometimes hard to play. Rock on!
Would love towin that guitar but I don't enter competitions anymore because stuff like that always go to people that's already got everything lol
"Send For The Man" from Fly On The Wall is a heavy riff, I've never seen a tribute band cover it.
This is a great song . That riff is pretty much 'Oh Well ' by Fleetwood Mac though.
My favourite album is Powerage. My favourite songs are Riff Raff, Beating Around The Bush, Walk All Over You and Overdose. The most underrated album is Flick Of The Switch.
I learned that song in high school. In fact, I learned "Oh, Well" that same day, which lead me to this song. Great choice.
My favorite AC/DC riff. I recently learned it.
you got some good real electric guitar amp sound.
Gotta start with upstroke cause it’s a swung 1/8th note that’s the “and” of 4
Landslide from the Flick of the Switch album would be a cool riff for you to cover. Similar to this one in some ways.
Such a good song.
Direct steal from Peter Green's "OH Well" with the original Fleetwood Mac. He started the riff with an upstroke, and also picked every note.
