I'm sure you know, but OFF, more DEET the better. Does crazy when used to do headlights. But it kinda melts it a bit so needs to be rinsed and washed after

No sanding first?
Always start least aggressive method first. Preservation is key, whether if it’s headlights or paint. The end results were a significant difference from the condition they were in before they were restored. If the machine polisher didn’t provide these results then sanding would be the next step.
