As a Tottenham fan I'm glad to hear your positive analysis of the way we played. According to PL pundits and 'expert' analysts Ange was wrong for still trying to score even with 9 man and should've instead just sat back, as if it's a guarantee to win. I mean just look at Liverpool vs us with 9 man played defense perfectly, but ended up losing in the last seconds of the game. Over the years we played defensive football which made every loss feel miserable, but yesterday despite the defeat, I'd take most of our fans are happy with the way we played that even in a 9-man scenario we kept playing positive football, everyone gave 100%, came close to scoring and really made Chelsea work for it.
Another thing that Tottenham always struggles with is the mentality and I think yesterday's performance will help our squad get over the loss and also the upcoming injury crisis, and especially could benefit the likes of Dier and Hojbjerg who will likely be the starters over the next few games with confidence

I think 2 things from this game really outline the turnaround at spurs this season. 1. even when we were 1-4 down with 9 men, our fans were singing for the team non stop, Chelsea fans nowhere to be heard, and a standing ovation with a rendition of I'm loving Big Ange afterwards just emphasised that. 2. When other teams have lost with VAR and Red cards and tight offsides etc. (e.g. liverpool, and *rsenal) their fans go mental all over social media about VAR being crap and all that stuff. I'm hardly seeing anything of the sort from spurs fans, because we are just proud of our team and cheering them on through everything. COYS

to be honest as a chelsea fan the reason why they were quiet was simply because only till the second jackson goal no one had the belief that we would win, for 15 months, weve been in positions like this before and let it slip
spurs were great, if udogie doesnt put that challenge in on sterling, momentum doesn't change, spurs win that 4-0. ultimately i look at this game and think we were rightly playing against 9 men but lucky that we was because no way we were beating them without that advantage.

as a neutral this game had my heart rate as high as that back line.
Spurs did bloody well with 9 men and nearly NEARLY held off for the point. Chelsea were playing for their dignity after the 75 min mark.
I don't support any club, I just watch football because i like the sport, and wow, this game was just madness. The first half was a war zone!
If goals reprersented effort then it should be 8-1 to spurs. Chelsea should have won by a solid 8 or 9 goals but Vicario came in clutch time after time. Absoloute unit.
I would rather have the VAR and eliminate any suspicion than go back to the old days with bad calls made left and right, but this came down to whether the players clipped their toe nails that morning.
chelsea only won because Spurs just ran out of juice 5 mins before the end. Thats it. And even THEN they almost got a goal back with 9 men.
Was a really exciting game. Spurs deserved more but yea, it is also their fault they only had 9 men.

From what I could see, I think Tottenham's game plan was to play high and hope they can clear the through balls, which worked really well. Playing high puts the ball farther from their defense and if they win it back it also allows them to attack immediately, unlike winning it back at their goal where they would have to play out of a press with 2 less men.
The issue arose once Chelsea started playing on the wings and their fast wingers and wingbacks could get in behind on the wings where Vicario couldn't go out to clear the ball.
Once they get bypassed on the wing, the defenders are stuck running back to goal, making crosses very hard to defend against. At that point I think it would've made more sense to change to a deeper line.

The first half Chelsea showed their only threat was in behind and clearly they couldn’t do that very well given there were 100 offsides calls. And honestly I don’t really see it taking them so long to score as Ange’s plan being successful either. I think he played into Chelsea’s hands. Not sure I can get onboard with not sending off Romero for kicking out at Colwill and by proxy the challenge that actually got him sent off. Regardless of the lack of force (re: challenge on Colwill) and the high pressure moment (re: the challenge on Fernandez), if you don’t punish those moments then you set a very bad precedent moving forward.
Yeah the kick on Colwill isn’t hard and yeah Colwill makes the most of it, but why are we determining violent conduct based upon the force applied? It’s unneeded in the game and the justification of “yeah but he loves to hurt people it’s just what he does” is a bridge too far for me.
Same thing with the Udogie yellow. If he catches any more of the player it absolutely pulverizes his leg. In that moment Udogie is completely out of control. It doesn’t - at least, it shouldn’t - matter if he catches him or not. It’s dangerous.

Everything came in 2's for us. 2 Reds, 2 Injuries, 2 disallowed goals, 2 Knocks on Vicario and Porro.

VAR bias in favour of spurs is unbelievable even with the two sending offs, the result is karma for how the Liverpool game was badly officiated.
Chelsea were so poor with scrappy goals against 9 men after all that money spent.
VAR has destroyed the game. Shocking calls by the faceless officials.

For Spurs, this is a throw away game. Not much to take away for film sessions. Going to be interesting to see how they deal with no VDV and Romero.

Curious how getting praised for playing their style is the narrative rather than losing their discipline and throwing away a lead…

Same reason I can't agree with James take here. He''s arguing that an intriguing narrative is better to have than a safe and fair game.
Felt like a tacit endorsement of cheating and dirty play because it's fun.

I think my viewpoint on it is that if spurs were leading, then the low block would've been on. Since it was a draw at the time, it was a high line, and spurs did create 3 chances. Maybe could've gone low block and counter since it was chelsea but angeball is angeball.

Tottenham went out on their shields… they won that game from start to finish in their performance. It’s one of those performances that’s a lower case w for Chelsea and a lower case l for Tottenham. If only if it was 11 v 11 for the who game without VAR.

A high line was the correct decision but i wish they did it a bit further towards there own goal so that Vicario has a better chance of sweeping. Also the 3 midfielders should have tried to pressure the man on the ball a bit more. But i get they had 9 men so must have been shattered. I think Spurs played brilliantly before the sending off and showed so much commitment to the cause after the 2 reds and injuries.

Bro, no chance. 9 men with highline is recipe for disaster actually. Sterling completely ripped that highline apart actually final minutes. Those 3 goals from Chelsea coming from the Spurs highline actually. This is concerning for Spurs moving forward. In this game's magnitude, u cannot make stupid tackle like the Udogie's and Romero's

Cracking match regardless. Respect to Ange for not crying like Arteta or Klopp afterwards.

They should have swapped to a low block eventually. Spent time making Chelsea switch between attacking both defenses

You guys are talking about the game as if Chelsea wasn't any good. But the fact is, even when before they played with 10 men, the score was 1-1. And after the first 15 minutes, we were the better team throughout the game. I can't deny that they have great spirit and play well too.
