I been thinking about this: how do we know that the interest is really about the dumb shit? In the 90s, Billboard's whole rigged game got exposed by soundscan and rap became the most popular music because the numbers were more visible. What if the algorithm also suppresses who gets to see the positive uploads or just fudges the real numbers to manipulate the content creators into thinking the response is weak?
My exact thoughts! They do what they always do - move the goal post! Sadly we never see it before the damage is done.
