I do not put a scrubber in to maximize the amount of surface area I can get from the SPP. A scrubber fills about 7cm of the length of the column and in a 1 metre column 2 x scrubbers will take up about 15% of the space in the column that can be filled with SPP and that is a lot. If you tip the column over one or two scrubbers will NOT keep that amount of SPP in the column. Cheers.
Hi there, do you find the SPP results in a higher re-flux ratio or ABV? Currently I'm using copper scrubbers (from Keg-land here in Australia) and my Boka produces consistent 94/95% runs...so I'm just wondering if theyre benificial to the process or just personal preference? Also, Where did you purchase your SPP from? Thanks for the videos, they were a good reference when I built my first Boka.
SPP definitely has a higher reflux ratio than scrubbers - it has about 2.4 times the surface area of scrubbers. It doesn't result in higher ABV, but the collection rate is about 3x faster. I usually collect around 500ml/hr with my 2" Boka on scrubbers and 1.2-1.5 liters per hour on SPP. The ABV is 95.6%. You can find SPP on eBay. I used to order from these guys: stillforyou.com/produkt/spiral-prismatic-packing/ but my last order never arrived and I had to request a refund from Paypal. They never even bothered to answer any of my emails. So be careful if your order from them. Cheers.
@@lumpycammotorcycles5481 Sorry for taking so long to answer, didn't see the question. For a 1 metre tall 2 inch (50.8mm) column you will need about 1.7 litres, so you will have to order 2 litres. Cheers.
@@LouwrensvanderMerwe thanks for your reply. I have ordered the required 2 litres about 6 weeks ago and am still waiting for it to arrive....hopefully any day now. Thx
Why don't you put one or two scrubbers on top of SPP to keep them in?

@@LouwrensvanderMerwe Great Thx. How many units did you have to order to fill your 2" column?

Is copper spp better then ss or a combo of both ?
I prefer Stainless SPP. Stands up better to repeated cleaning cycles. Cheers
