      @@SVKLOrchids I've read it, and I've tried to apply his directions to my plant. In my experience, despite its high light requirements, warscewiczsii also burns very easily in the sun. I've had other Cattleyas tolerate full sun much better than this one. Neither plant is headed for the compost pile, but I will say that I haven't nailed the culture of these two yet! 😅

    • @SVKLOrchids
      @SVKLOrchids  Год назад +1

      @@kimdreyer4970 That’s because warscewiczii doesn’t like high light! Andrea Niessen says it’s grows somewhat shaded in the wild. Growers in the northeast USA grow it “bright” because their sun is very weak. But it’s not a bright grower in the wild. I moved mine into shadier (not shady) conditions and it does much better.

      @@skyaperez7962 No problem! I’d fill a bucket with water deep enough cover 99% of the orchid pot. Then slowly place the pot in the water and the whole colony will bail. Just be sure to provide them a bridge from the pot to the edge of the bucket. They’ll take a few hours to move out, but ultimately you’ll have an ant free pot without using chemicals.
