I had an orchid in 1993/94. It was a Phalaenopsis hybrid that was named after my father- the Florian Kordowski. It was registered by Hausermann Orchids, but they no longer carry it. Both the orchid and my father have long since passed away, but I would just love to find this orchid out in the world somewhere.
Oooooh, goodness, the orchids I lost when I moved!! I had Cattleyas, Dendrobiums, and tooooons of stunning Phals. I’m just finally starting to rebuild my collection, I only had one plain white Phalaenopsis for the last two years. She made me a keiki, and so I came back to your videos to learn how to plant it, and fell back in love with them. I’m up to 7 Phals now, and am on the hunt for the perfect Cattleya and Dendrobium. Hi, Danny! I have had the same issue, having lost many orchids over my years of growing. Just as in outdoor garden plant suppliers, the producers concentrate on varieties and hybrids that sell well in the retail trade, and that also follow color trends. And with so many new man-made hybrids being created, they retire old varieties. However, folks like myself, sometimes have an "ark" of a few of the old, great varieties from, including Hausermann and E.F.G., here in the USA. As always, I thoroughly enjoy all of your videos. I'm in Germany and I'm pretty certain I already saw the white Miltonia from in a home renovation store here. But back then I chose to buy the all purple one, cause that appealed to me more. It is some years in the past. I will have an eye open if I ever see it again.
The burr. Francine #3 is very popular in the states right now. The Iwanagara Appleblossom is harder to find and pricey--I paid almost $60 for three pseudobulbs, but she is growing well. I don't know which color variation she is yet--yellowish or pinkish. They didn't have the whitish one you mentioned. That golden odontoglossom...I've never seen it over here. It is stunning!

Hi from the States 👋. In NJ we got a great nursery called Waldor's. They specialize with cattleyas and have many of the other genera. They had quite a few of the Golden, yellow 'Apple Blossom', but they were not fragrant to me, but it might have been too fresh a flower. 🤷♂️

Where you can pick up a phal for £4) 1 cambria, and a macodes petola and dendrobium both in ICU (no roots) Have you ever thought about writing a book? Your knowledge is amazing and it would be incredible to have you in a book form haha. Or recommend any orchid books? cannot wait to get into more complicated and rare specimens. Phal. bellina Eagle x LDs Bear King - this was one of the first summer bloomers I got and it came with base rot. 😞 It died shortly after, but I have seen it in bloom at many fellow hobbyists and I wish I could have another go with it.
I do have that NoiD white Miltonia! And the Iwanagara pink and the golden elf, took me years to find them, but just never give up! And I always say in my videos how I love the combination of yellow and white! And the dark warm reds. ❤ so I agree 😅
I have been looking for ages for Iwanagarara / Jackfowleara Apple Blossom in the pink and white version too in the UK, and never found it. Golden Elf I found is a bit a hit and miss for the fragrance, how is yours? Just wondering if you have any spare division to exchange? I don't have much combination of yellow an white, but I have some nice magenta reds in my Cattleyas

I have a division of Cattleya trianae, it is in semi hydro, the mother plant bloomed the second time this year, it has a very light vanilla scent but I found many orchids develop full fragrance on the thrid or fourth blooming (like my digbyana). The trianaei flowers last 5-6 weeks, it is a division of the very same trianaei that I have on my channel (the mother plant, I tried to pollinate it a few days ago). Where do you live in the UK? I live in Kent

I would have loved the Apple Blossom !!! Orchid exchange and buying is just one of the very many things that became absolutely a nightmare after Brexit (and as much as I love orchids, still definitely one of the less important, considering how bad it is impacting everyday life in the UK). Anyway I subscribed to your channel so I will definitely be very pleased to see your videos, you have an amazing collection!!! Is there any other orchid you have and that you would recommend for fragrance? I will try to see if I can get any of them, from the very few orchid nurseries in the UK

My first orchid was a Plumberry Glow "York" from Haussermans. I had it for 20 years and finally killed it. I can't find a replacement anywhere. It did look a whole lot like C. Chocolate Drop. JUST like some pictures of C. Chocolate Drop. It was slightly fragrant at 1:00 pm.
@@jenniferkenny I won't say it was necessarily FIT but it hung in there and bloomed. What happended was I moved to the desert and then after about 10 years of it "hanging on" I went back to college and the extra level of neglect finally got it. My ambient in-the-house humidity is 30%.
Hi Danni, I’m sure I’ve seen the Apple Blossom for sale here although I can’t remember which exact one. Unfortunately I live in Australia so there’s not much chance that you’d be able to order it here. My guess would be that with your wide audience you’ll get one or another of your lost orchids offered to you as a cutting. Have you tried Facebook marketplace, you never know, someone may be able to help you out there. Good luck.
Would love if you could do a care guide for psycopsis orchids. I have been trying to grow mine for years with no success (it has been just barely staying alive and not growing at all). I have tried literally everything I can think of to get it to grow a new leaf but alas have had it for 3 years and it has never grown a new leaf or flowered. I have reached out to orchid boards and nothing. I just need a good long form video to copy the care of someone else because clearly I am missing something basic to get the plant to thrive.
I have 2 psycopsis (one is alba version) that I grow in my living room. 1st bought March 2021, 2 new leaves in one year, then bloomed June 2022 with 2 spikes, then added a third spike in Sept 2022. All three spikes are continuously in flower. The alba version bought in April 2021, still no blooms, has 2nd new leaf just now. Both started their new leaves when I moved them from a medium sunny location to a very sunny location (window ESE direction, sheer curtain). Potted in mix of bark and coco husk. IMPORTANT: do not let dry out, nor get too wet, water about once a week in winter, more often in summer if hot. I fertilize with seaweed 1week, then CaMg the next week, then FLUSH, then a 4-6-5 fertilizer the next week and finally a 15-5-5 the last week. FLUSH again then repeat pattern. Repot 2 every 2 years (some suggest every year, but the roots hate hate hate repots, so be careful). So far that has worked for me
I bought iwaganara apple blossom in Italy last year. At Varesina Orchidee online shop. I just checked it up, and it is not anymore in stock. Maybe just keep looking for it from time to time.
The first orchid I ever had was a peachy-pink mini-phal with the type of peloria where the flowers don't open all the way. I really loved it, but sadly, I've never seen anything like it ever again. I think that sometimes when the mutation isn't necessarily a 'desired trait' or is a complete fluke, they are pretty much impossible to reacquire.
I also had a coral colored Francine Roseglow, and it died last spring after I had it about 3 years. I thought I got it from Hausermann’s. It had a bit of orange tint mixed into the coral color.
Interesting that you can't find Iwanagara appleblossom...I've seen it in 3 different Lowe's home improvement stores recently, and in fact, bought one for myself a few hours ago at the Lowe's in Kyle, Texas! The large picture on the package shows a pink flower; the small tag in the pot reads, "Jackfowlieara Appleblossom 'NN' - Yellow". I do hope it's pink, though. 🤷♀️
I lost a mini phalaenopsis to crown rot last year that was a very light purple with a darker lip. I've been looking for it ever since but haven't been able to find it :(
My Orchird is also dying a very slow death, first i lost the first spike. it dried up from the top, then after that the next one followed. now the leaves are yellowing and I feel so helpless!

Cattleya LECO Peach Sun looks like Cattleya Brabantiae, or Cattleya Lulu hybrid or a Cattleya Penny Kuroda. Just something with C. guttata, C. schilleriana, or C. aclandiae in it and it was a mericlone of a seedling. I have a seedling off spotted parents, ironically from a nursery here in Aus that also sells the Iwanagara appleblossum and a lot of different cats and that LECO Peach Sun just looks like a lot of spotty hybrids they have so somewhere there is an ancestry connection If I could I would totally export you the appleblossum of similar colours and a couple of other plants that might not be the exact hybrid but of similar style. Nice video... Pretty orchids indeed... One elusive for me is pure Phalaenopsis Gigantea... I'm looking for this orchid for two years now but this year might be it! Fingers crossed 🤞 One question tho if you'll have a glance at this... Have you ever considered a video about how to differentiate Oncidium orchids from each other? I mean without the flower... Like when you grab a random Oncidium can you say like yeah this'll be a brasia or Zygopetalum or Miltoniopsiss and such... Or is it that impossible?
The best place to buy a fully mature phal gigantea in Europe is Lucke (Germany). They have it for less than €50. All of the plants that came (in a shared order) last year were h-u-g-e. There were even blooming ones. Mine was not, but it started working on a new leave upon arrival and is now fully grown at 40cm (16") length. 😳 I'm on the lookout for gigantea alba - I've wanted one for a long time.

4:30 if you like C. Tropical Pointer Galaxy you might love C. amethystoglossam var. area. There are so many colors of this species but some seem to be very orange - red lip plus your beloved spots.
Might sound crazy however Home Depot & Lowe’s has a lot of pretty exotic orchids . The thing is they’re in bags hanging on a gondola. They are fairly small and you would have to look through all the bags to find the ones you want. Ppl know they sell them at my Home Depot so the choice ones go quickly. There are several places here in Florida that only sell exotic orchids however mainly in and around Miami, Kendal and homestead. These nurseries cater to hobbyists and not so much the Easter crowd.🐣
I have a question for you Dani I have 2 phals one is dark in color with the leaves n the other one has lighter color leaves n the lighter color is smaller than the darker color one is there any difference between them bc of the color difference? 12:17 I thought I posted this before but I don't see that here. Look at pictures of Oncidiopsis (Vuyl.?) Celtic Sun 'Maya' and see if it is your No-ID Miltonia. It is hard to find things when the taxonomists are fooling around so that one website uses one genus and others use different names.

Iwanagara appleblossom is quite common in Australia. Arambeem orchids for example.

I just love Hausermann’s. Bravo on keeping it fit 20 years!!! This makes me want to propagate second plants from some of my favorites… just in case. 😬

One question tho if you'll have a glance at this... Have you ever considered a video about how to differentiate Oncidium orchids from each other? I mean without the flower...
Like when you grab a random Oncidium can you say like yeah this'll be a brasia or Zygopetalum or Miltoniopsiss and such...

The best place to buy a fully mature phal gigantea in Europe is Lucke (Germany). They have it for less than €50. All of the plants that came (in a shared order) last year were h-u-g-e. There were even blooming ones. Mine was not, but it started working on a new leave upon arrival and is now fully grown at 40cm (16") length. 😳
I'm on the lookout for gigantea alba - I've wanted one for a long time.

Alba is nice but I like the reds on her better 😊 And isn't she an unusual conversation stater right? Not only is she the biggest phal in the world but people coming seeing and like "Do you sleep under that?" 😁

Might sound crazy however Home Depot & Lowe’s has a lot of pretty exotic orchids . The thing is they’re in bags hanging on a gondola. They are fairly small and you would have to look through all the bags to find the ones you want. Ppl know they sell them at my Home Depot so the choice ones go quickly. There are several places here in Florida that only sell exotic orchids however mainly in and around Miami, Kendal and homestead. These nurseries cater to hobbyists and not so much the Easter crowd.🐣
I have a question for you Dani I have 2 phals one is dark in color with the leaves n the other one has lighter color leaves n the lighter color is smaller than the darker color one is there any difference between them bc of the color difference? They are both doing fine fingers crossed 🤞 they stay that way bc I couldn’t keep my oldest orchid alive after I repotted it 😢n that broke my heart 💔💔❤️🩹❤️🩹😢
12:17 I thought I posted this before but I don't see that here. Look at pictures of Oncidiopsis (Vuyl.?) Celtic Sun 'Maya' and see if it is your No-ID Miltonia. It is hard to find things when the taxonomists are fooling around so that one website uses one genus and others use different names.
