    I like that Rad offers value pricing. In this case it means no extra gears and a simpler display but it also means it’s simpler and needs less maintenance. Way to go Rad, you continue to be a leader in ebikes!

      Yeah, I agree, it's always nice to have choice and I respect that they are running a big company now with 7-day customer support and a good warranty, that isn't free and they need to make some trade-offs to stay in business. I think they chose pretty well :)

      Great bike but the display was the deal breaker can't deal with having to use my phone or gps to know how far you travel how fast you are going not sure how you could ride so brain dead to what you are doing on your journey one speed is bad enough but the who cares how fast you are going and how far I traveled what a shame and the upgrade to next model dosent look as good and is over priced seems I can't be happy owning a rad .but great review thank for letting me know this stuff so I didn't make a mistake

I cannot think of anything negative, maybe paint rather than powder-coat and accessories are a bit pricey. It’s surprisingly easy to pedal on flat ground without e-power. I would definitely recommend this bike.

    • @googleuser6635

      Not worth much, having an owner who does not care about customers. Rad "customer service" acts as if the customer is an inconvenience. Rad support has no apparent knowledge of Rad, or of bikes in general, has no apparent interest in bikes, and probably went back to sleeping or trimming their nails after I interrupted their day.
      You would figure that, if this reviewer thought Rad bikes were good, or had any contact with the Rad CEO, he'd bring these issues to the attention of the CEO. But no.
      When someone talks up a product like this that is so terrible, it says something about the lack of value in that person's reviews, don't you think?

Not having another E bike to compare it with. You can if you are handy swap out the individual cell rather easily if you have the battery case or shell. You could also change the bracket and battery pack without to much problem if you are capable. Hell I bet you could get it to run off of power tool batteries if you’re determined lol 😂

They set enough time aside and put energy into the process, and that's why I could do it on time for launch like this. I'm fair with every company and all reviews are paid at the same rate, but some teams put more of their own energy and time into it. Rad Power Bikes is near the top of that list, and it shows :)

    It needs fenders as stock equipment, otherwise the tires throw all kinds of dirt, rocks, and debris on you and all over the back of your shirt, especially when it is raining or wet outside. It needs air pressure adjustable fluid filled front spring loaded forks and a mono shock for a smooth ride. Some other colors would nice too. They need to have plastic or rubber covers over all the predrilled holes to keep debris and moisture out of the frame. Rad Bikes, you should have sent me some pics or a demo bike before putting this bike into production. It is a nice bike but just needs some extra tweaking to make it the best on the market. Rad Bikes now you need to make these changes and additions, then get started on a Electric 3 wheel version and you need a towable light weight aluminum cart that owners can have their kids, pets, and cargo stored in so they don’t have to leave their precious cargo at home and so they can get provisions from the stores and the weight wont effect the steering such as a heavy top loaded basket will. Thank You.

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  5 лет назад +2

      Some good ideas there, I agree that the fenders are a nice to have if it's raining or you're on gravel. I think they were trying to really drive the price down but also have to support their large support team and one year warranty. Will be interesting to see how this ebike is accepted, how it holds up, and what parts people struggle with over time.

    • @ShiftingCloudsYT

      Realize this bike is meant to be sold at a lower cost for affordability purposes. All of those suggestions are great and you are welcome to make those changes as you see fit for your personal RadRunner should you choose to get one. This is a great base model that appeals to many people as not everyone will be towing pets, children, etc. Those would be great add-on options for those interested, but for the base model; what it comes with is perfect for the price point. This thing sells cheaper than the RadCity and does MORE than the rad city, rover, and step-thru. Really getting a bang for your buck. I do not believe, other than the cargo bike, you have the option of towing both another person and some cargo simultaneously. Really a slam dunk on RPB's part.

    • @VonBluesman
      @VonBluesman 5 лет назад +1

      Aleekcheaahoosh Impetus I realize the less parts they put on a bike the cheaper the cost such as in everything a person purchases. I know they are trying to keep the cost down by using China to build the bike, but I do have innovated ideas from owning a business and serving the public for 42 in retail big ticket items. I do not see this as a slam dunk on Rads part none whatsoever. There are many ways to cut cost and get U.S. grants to operate a business in the United States Of America using American parts and American labor. You can sell a product and have the legal claim to register such product as made in America if 2/3 of the product is American made. There are other electric bike companies offering lower prices and higher prices as well. I was simply trying to help this company shore up some minor cost details to improve their product and produce another product that is not in production yet. Also, a business can get a Federal Grant that allows the company to hire Handicapped Workshop employees which provides minimum wages for the handicapped and the organization handles all of the payroll tax, insurance, and deductions, so the said business company using the labor simply provides a total amount to cover the wage expense, plus this provides jobs for the less fortunate and helps them mentally, physically, and spiritually, creating a service that provides a satisfying reward for all parties. There are numerous other companies that they could use for welding aluminum frames as well such as companies that build aluminum products for the United States Government bid contracts, companies that are set up with skilled proficient welders and computerized welding as well that compete on a daily basis of cost efficient production in a competitive market. I am simply stating facts to help if wanted, to a newly up and coming company of young adventurous entrepreneurs.

    In this category, look at Lectric Ebikes. The Rad is no match for this, and the Lectric is less expensive has a hidden battery, better tires, better display, folds in half, etc. I've owned mine a few days and am very, very impressed about how it came out of the box. It shares many parts with this Rad, but in a different package. One thing though, Lectric is backordered a few months so if you want instant gratification you have to get something else.

    That storage unit filling in the step through area really makes a huge difference in terms of motorbike aesthetics. Throw some white wall slick tires on this and you have a real sick looking bike.

      The whole point of having a step-through space is to have it. This is called accessibility. The bike looks more like a utility vehicle with this green color anyway, and changing the color wouldn't help, frame curves are just not "sexy", for lack of a better word. RAD have never been good in esthetics department.

    Wow, love this: I'm a (very short) boomer lady who is looking at Ebikes for fun now, and for transport later on when I can't drive so well anymore but still need to go to the store and around town. Something like this looks perfect. When I first saw the extra seat in back, I thought maybe it was convertible from a backrest for the 'driver' - please consider this design change; I'd love something to lean back against. More colors, too, please! I tell everybody making ANYTHING electric - please make it glow in the dark! Either glow in the dark paint or tape wrapping. That reflective tape that police cars have would be great; in any event I'll retrofit whatever I buy with it. Something like this would be huge in retirement communities, so much more practical than golf carts.

    This bike has great potential here in the uk fantastic as a utility bike excellent value though only being a250 watt motor coupled with single speed my be an issue in hilly areas but that motor has 80nm of torque that’s got some grunt. Earlier this year I bought a refurbished 3 speed bike from a charity here in the uk
    The bike is called a Elephant bike which is a former Royal Mail bike made by Pashley bikes
    Which I fitted a mid drive Bafang bbs01 250 watt 36 volt motor 80nm torque its a beautiful classic
    Rad have nailed this all the best to them

    Interesting bike, the only minus is the single speed layout. But big battery capacity and a two seater. You're better off in the US than in Europe where maximum power is like 500 W and unassisted maximum speed 20 km/h, not 20 mph. At 20 mph it gets quite useful. I personally don't like the military colour, but the shape is like the Honda Monkey motorbike from the 70's. Price is reasonable with that battery, Baofeng motors are ok, better than Bosch for which no spare parts are available! Appreciated the video!

    Rode my friend’s Radrunner today here’s an authentic review. I’m 5’9”, 190lbs, a strong cyclist and live in a hilly neighborhood.
    Cons:
    - It’s severely underpowered and performs like a 500 watt motor or less.
    - On hills it has a very hard time.
    - Steering is dangerously unstable. - its seat is too high.
    - The cockpit is short/cramped.
    - It has too little slack in the stem/handle bars.
    - The handlebars aren’t wide enough too keep the front wheel straight.
    - I could barely the get it’s single speed gear up a hill, even when I have it set to its top speed and pedaling
    - It has 5 speeds and 2-4 feel the same.
    - Does not ride like a bicycle.
    Pros:
    - Rides like a scooter.
    -The tires are cushy.
    I don’t recommend the Radrunner at all.
    FYI: When test riding, don’t put a kid or first time rider on it until you figure out the quirks because they will tip over or go over the handlebars.
    I posted this because on RUclips there are only ads disguised as reviews. Hope this better informs your decision.

    First of all, great concept and very interesting and appealing. Q's: 1) Can a rear derailleur be added later? 2) Is there some type of adapter for the fat rear rack tubing to accommodate Ortlieb bags (that many folks already own)? 3) Can the frame accommodate a front suspension fork if later one wished to upgrade that? 4) Upgrading to a seat suspension post is often done these days; Does the geometry definitely result in the adjustable seat being higher than the rear bench seat? If so, that seems like something that, in design, could have been prevented. 5) Can the bike accept a full-screen display, if one wanted to upgrade that at some point? Thanks.

    I loved this review. Thank you! My only concern is that the RadBikes are made in China - yes, as majority of bikes and e-bikes (and pretty much everything else). Bicycles made in the USA are super expensive (several thousands of dollars) and not everybody can afford them. Also, they aren’t as versatile as those ones. Is there a way to ensure that workers in China who make RadBikes are treated well, paid a fair wage, and aren’t subjected to dangerous conditions/chemicals etc? I do realize it’s a lot to ask considering a lower price of RadBikes but I really like the products this company makes, and I’d like to support them knowing they share ethical values.

      I agree, it’s great. Don’t you think it It would be even better if they made a little extra than a minimum wage? Big companies they work for could make it happen if they weren’t so greedy (not saying RadBike is one of them). Honestly, I’ve never been to China to confirm everything I read about what’s going on there. But I see ‘made in China’ labels on pretty much everything. Why? Cheap labor but you already knew that. I’m not asking to stop manufacturing there - I’m glad those people have jobs. However, as I wrote previously, fair wages and good treatment are important to me. People get excited about a low price tag on things but do they wonder why and how? I can assure them - someone is paying that price. It’s possible to have a product made in China (or another country) were people are paid a fair wage and treated well. Fair trade. No greed.

    • @lowerastral1963
      @lowerastral1963 5 лет назад +1

      The suspension is a good idea. I'm almost 57 years young and my back, neck, and wrists/hands cannot handle hardtails anymore. I had started noticing my lower back starting to ache more and more as the years have gone by... but in the last four or five years or so, it seems to have gotten worse. So I went to a spine specialist who did X-rays and she told me that I have SBO (Super Bad Odor?) Spina Bifida Occulta. Apparently, as much as 20% of the world population has this affliction. Who knew?
      Anyway, I'm not supposed to be running up and down stairs, lifting anything over twenty-five pounds, no bending or stooping... DAMN! This sounds like I can't even get an Electric-Assist bicycle! I mean, I live in an apartment where there are ONLY stairs to get into the building, and stairs to get down to my apartment. Sounds weird, right? You have to go up to eventually go down. Ugh! But I was carrying my mountain bike like this for the last almost eight years here... which weighed in at about 36 lbs (until it got stolen... then my SECOND mountain bike got stolen... I know it's the same little druggy-asshole too)... so what's another 36 to 45 lbs? Right? Just don't spill the beans to my spine doctor... she just can't know... OK? Thanks!

      @@ElectricBikeReview awesome! Heck, I'd pay Domino's to do that job.

    Rode one today. 750W my ass. A bit of lag in the pedal assist disengagement for the first time riders. Great brakes. Good quality levers and junk. Won't go over maybe 20 no matter how hard you pedal on flat ground. Fake derailleur LOL. Supposedly need that to help with all the strenuous peddling up hills you'll be doing with that one speed. In all reality unless you're an experienced cyclist you probably shouldn't be going any faster than this bike will go.

    you should have done an uphill test from zero speed. Both one and two riders. To see if it will even start without advantage of speed before hill because it looked like if that hill was a bit longer, the bike would stop since it seemed it barely made it with two of you.
