- One of the world's most powerful drug lords, Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada, leader of Mexico's Sinaloa cartel, has been arrested by US federal agents in El Paso, Texas.
According to the Justice Department, both men are facing multiple charges for leading the Sinaloa Cartel's criminal operations, including its "deadly fentanyl manufacturing and trafficking networks."

The only problem is that who gets to take control. The Sinaloa Cartel runs like a federation between different factions. Because of el mayo being the most influential figure in the Sinaloa Cartel,I doubt someone in his faction would ever be this influential as mayo was. It’s likely the sons of el chapo would likely take control but it’s highly possible power struggles would happen. Hopefully it doesn’t end up like the gulf or zetas cartel situation. I’m not saying I support criminals but it’s better for them to keep it together than seeing bloodshed.
And because el mayo was the main person to be in charge of most of the operations,it’s likely whoever succeeds him will likely not have the most leadership as him. This could cause the Jalisco cartel to take advantage of this and sooner or later the CJNG would be equally if not more powerful than the Sinaloa cartel. Not to mention cjng is more brutal in terms of violence. So brutal in fact they are compared to the zetas which were the most violent cartel in Mexico.

No, one of El Chapo's sons (he has 4 and one is already in custody in the US) turned Mayo in. Mayo was playing a bigger role in the cartel once El Chapo was captured and sentenced in the US about 5 years back. This son Joaquín cut a deal and surrendered Mayo to the authorities. Ovidio, the first son arrested a few years back and now his brother will also face prosecutors. Joaquín and perhaps Ovidio too believe Mayo had something to do with their dad's arrest and conviction.
Now inmates will have them on late night snacks. 😂

If this is true, then wow, that's some hate. You really have to hate someone to be willing to spend the rest of your life in prison just to ensure that the other person never has a free day again. I just can't see any way the US agrees to any deal that lets Jr. out on the streets again for at least 40-50 years.
Also, if this was done without the cooperation of Mexico, that potentially means the death penalty is on the table - though presumably, Jr would be spared for his role in the capture.
