Bought a 1080 8gb oc card 4 years ago for my current setup, running many games in high and ultra settings and I'm thinking it's time to build a new rig this year, but the price today is insane, graphic card cost the same as my current computer did 4 years ago, if you want the latest and best computer today you looking at least $5000 to $6000 and 1/3 of that price is the graphic card.
Just got a 1080ti strix to replace my 1060 3gb and even to this day it is a beast! I mostly play 1080p and not the most intense games so the 1080ti is perfect. Best 275$ I spent on my pc
And where the frequencies are set to 1080 ti, the trick is that if you overclock the 4090 frequencies at 1080 ti by installing new controllers, then the performance difference will be 10% maximum.the materials from which the memory and the core are made remained the same as 8 years ago, respectively, by increasing the frequencies and voltage, we increase the bandwidth, and 1080 ti could then have the same performance as 4090 now, but this is not profitable for financial reasons. But no one will ever make such experiments, because it will be the collapse of the giants of the video industry

@Hz Win IP everyone just focuses on performance on ultra settings. Yes, those cards can game. Most here are hardware enthusiasts, not gamers. Fps counter makes them Cream their panties.
NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT PRICE TO PERFORMANCE! Because 70% more performance should NOT be 100% more in price from the last generation! Otherwise we will come to computers costing millions of dollars.
1080ti was great bang for buck. But I still think the RTX 2080ti is the proper old beast along with the 980ti when it came out. 2080ti is still going strong and actually got better as Nvidia improved on drivers and RTX stuff. It performs as well as a 3070ti. And it was 30%+ faster than the 1080ti.
although the 4090 is stronger than the 1080ti, the price has set its priorities... And also, you can raise the question of whether you need such performance? Even at 1050 you can sit at medium low with 60 fps, this running around for fps is over making a difference, but is it needed when you are going to the card overpriced by Huang? I don't think so far. Wait a little and take it at a bargain price, two or three times cheaper
@@donmike2810 depends tho. In fast competitiv FPS games i like 1080p high refresh rate more then 4k high refresh rate. even a lil more then 1440p high refresh rate.. just the fact that 24 inch monitors are sooo much better for cmpetitiv fast FPS games. 27 is oke but 24 is better for such games.

Now remember the 4070 ti card is only good for 1440 and the 4080 is good for 4k, lol. I use a Asus Rog Strix OC 1080 and play games on 1440 and 4k with no problems. Most games are around 50-60fps. It is time to update though after 6 and half years. Going to get a 4070 ti or a 4080, mostly for DCS in VR.
The Biggest problem of today's GPU's is that there are no games worth playing. I'm using a 1070 and it is still powerful enough to play any online game at 1080p. The Gaming Industry itself is just a joke today. The Only game I enjoyed playing over the last years was GOD OF WAR.... Buying a 2000$ GPU does not make sense to me....
1080 Ti used to be 4K card in older games but now 1080p card in new games I'd buy 4090 cheaper in 2024 can handle my 144hz and 4K Samsung will use medium settings
Does anyone else also thinks that even having more that double fps actual difference is very marginal? Graphic card companies are just making fool of people with the newer better costlier new tech graphic cards but in actual usage difference is not proportionate to the price it's just a marketing gimmick by the companies and some 'independent you tubers'.
Buying high end cards are kinda pointless when you still have to upgrade almost as frequently as midrange cards. They get you maybe an extra year of good performance but then are outdated in terms of software.
I would upgrade my 1080ti, but I got ryzen 1700x and am4 motherboard so I d probably have to buy completely new system, also ddr5 rams and shit. I play at 1440p though, so I guess 1080ti will serve me for few more years.

yeah, it can handle any video game at 2k resolution.

@@magnificentoutcome People don't have money to get a 4K Monitor that is the reason why they stick with 1080p because it's so cheap, even a gaming 4K monitor is cheap nowadays.
I remember when flagship used to cost $750. I bought an EVGA 1080 ti on launch day. Had that set up for the last 6 years. Planned to purchase a 4090 until I laughed in disbelief at the cost of GPU's. Especially with previous model GPU's. They cost more than current GPU's. Make it make sense.
Yeah it's insane. I got the 3080 at launch and the 4080 is an extra $1000 in my country...
Is nice to see this comparison. I still own a 1080ti and I game at 1440p. 4k looks great, Ive tried it. But for that you need a good monitor, a 9 out of 10 cases biger power supply, an "ok" CPU so other mobo too etc. All in all take in consideration at least a 3500$ upgrade,if you want to really take advantage out of it. AAA titles can be played even at less frames no need 150+, so a RX7900 xtx I believe is a better choice in my opinion (at least no PSU to change, cause the rest kind of needed still).
1080ti plays all these games at 4K too i.e that cyberpunk at 20 25 fps, turn on FSR 2.1 quality mode and all the sudden its 35 40...on a 5 year old card. Both Maxwell and Pascal were great generation of cards.
@@SoftExo imho the gtx 1080 ti, is the g.o.a.t, capable of high 2k gaming, some 4k, and come with whopping 11gb vram, for that time it was more than enough, just like the present day, never seen a gpu that old and at same time so strong, i miss my 1080 ti strix :D
Yes buy amd card if you want driver issue, overheat, no rtx. Or buy nvidia for the same price and get same fps but with rtx enabled.
Man that 4090 is a boss… too bad you also need to be a boss of a Fortune 500 company to own one.
After paying $3,500 for my 3090, I can't decide if I should take a bath and get a 4090 or just use it for now. I do the same thing every generation. The 1080ti was when I could finally get good VR performance. 2080Ti was a slight upgrade. 3090 is just a furnace.
You like wasting money don't you? ;)

1080ti still holding quite well for its age
JUST GOOD MEMORIES. WHAT A LEGEND CARD WAS 1080TI. oh boy. I so much love it :) after that i upgraded to rtx3080TI, next will be maybe 5070TI or 5080TI..
Each generation Nvidia promising +50/+70/+100% of performance, but for some mystical reason in 4 year's we have only extra 150%. In some cases 200% but nowhere close to 400+%. And in comparison with 4080 it would be even worse.
+300% on average, but this is still bad for a x2.5 price
1:1 performance stagnation and catering to crypto market. Give Nvidia up.
i dont know where you get 150% from... back to math class i guess? Not saying 300% improve is good enough. but 150% lol
700$ at launch Vs 2000$ at launch
Reality: paid 630 euros for the 1080ti (evga ftw3) and the 4090 (cheaper variant) costs at least 2500 euros. Lmao
It tells me that as long as you don't play with Ultra/Ultimate/Very High setting, 1080ti is just fine at 4K.
That’s like comparing a bicycle to a Harley
Basically the same just turn a few of the unidentifiable max settings down a little.
i bought this 1080ti in 2019 for 375 euros. i can still sell it today for 200 euros. thats 175 euros less than what i paid for it, 4 years after i bought it and 6 or 7 years after release. thats pretty fucking insane. naturally i will need to upgrade once i get a 4k monitor. but for 1080p? its still awesome. i get averages of 90-110 fps on 1080p with it, on a 5600x. its pretty insane. i thnk i can last another year , perhaps even 2. but by then i will def need a new monitor and a new gpu. so i better start saving.
Today GPU without RT is archaism.
Bought a 1080 8gb oc card 4 years ago for my current setup, running many games in high and ultra settings and I'm thinking it's time to build a new rig this year, but the price today is insane, graphic card cost the same as my current computer did 4 years ago, if you want the latest and best computer today you looking at least $5000 to $6000 and 1/3 of that price is the graphic card.
i wish i had the 1080 TI in 2017 what a legendary card well now the 4090 is my 1080 TI moment lets see how far can go and age together
I own this 1080ti Ryzen 5 3600 and o game on 1080p still performs great
Thanks for the side by side comparison!
Believe me or not, if producers wanted and released a REAL new deivers for 1080 TI, it would stil be a top graphic card. Sad, but True...
Half the price, half the power draw, half the performance.Still pretty good for a 7yrs old GPU
Definitely less than half the performance did you even look at the fps?
4x the power, 10x the cost. I think this cycle I'm going team red since Nvidia turned into corpo scalpers.
Team red is doing the same and they don't charge more because their products are just inferior.
I'm still running a GTX 1080. Love that card, but its time is coming to an end. I see a 4090 on the horizon.
Tbh the performance is 3x but the price is also abt 2.5x so what's the point?
Seems like the only thing that had improved was FPS but far as graphics and the way things look... nah I feel like they can do better.
Been playing Quake arena 3 again after over two decades. My 1080 ti handles it, *gameplay* is epic.
1080ti is a great card. This 4090 is insanity. Hopefully I can pick one of these up for $700 in a year. It seems like the ideal card for vr.
If you are talking about 4090 costing 700$ you are insane lol. 4090 now costs 2200$+ and will cost 1600$ in 2024.
If you want to buy 1080ti, then buy Rx 6700xt for lower price and better performance.

Im still rocking my MSI 1080ti
I had my 1080 for 6 years it’s time to invest into new gen card for another 6 years to come 💪
although the 4090 is stronger than the 1080ti, the price has set its priorities...
Once you experience 4k in high refresh rate, you simply can't go back.

I have a Titan X Pascal 12Gb in my HP Z440 128Gb RAM 6TB NVME workstation, fantastic for content creation/music production, in my studio, it does all these games without a problem. It is still a beast of a card, and is more power efficient than a 4090. A RTX 4090, sorry, in my eyes its a complete ripoff. Maybe good for people who want to brag, but I will never pay almost 2000 euro for a RTX 4090. I just bought a HP Z440 128Gb RAM 2TB SSD 970 Evo plus with Gtx 1070 ti 8Gb for 380 euro, for my in my apartment. Spent some money on a Motu Ultralite MK4, and don't have to buy anything anymore. Maybe when a GTX 1080 ti prices come down to 100 euro I will buy it to replace the 1070 Ti. At the moment I am completely happy with my stuff, and still have holiday money! L😋
Props to whoever optimized Forza for people with low end cards.
1080ti probably best buying pc component - it run great even in 2023. Yes, 1080p monster and 2k with middle-high settings. People who took it in 2017 had 6 years of great gaming time.
oh my word
this beast of a gpu
what a serious upgrade
and im still on a gtx 1070
also seems the cpu uses more power on that 4090 to keep up with it
the price of this beast buys me a second hand car
its insanely expensive
so it may seem in 1-2 generations from now we wont afford gpus anymore as the prices have become absurd
100 fps more or less, what's a difference... It works!

If today's developer were not lazy in optimization 1080 would had atleast 60fps in 4k.
The Biggest problem of today's GPU's is that there are no games worth playing. I'm using a 1070 and it is still powerful enough to play any online game at 1080p.

1080 ti and titan x are more or less the same performance
Does anyone else also thinks that even having more that double fps actual difference is very marginal? Graphic card companies are just making fool of people with the newer better costlier new tech graphic cards but in actual usage difference is not proportionate to the price it's just a marketing gimmick by the companies and some 'independent you tubers'.
Buying high end cards are kinda pointless when you still have to upgrade almost as frequently as midrange cards. They get you maybe an extra year of good performance but then are outdated in terms of software.
