  • Initially the instructions for this Crochet Prayer Shawl are daunting. For me, I had about 5 false starts on this project. For me, I had to clear my mind and grab my pencil to draw what is happening in the 1st row. From then, I was finally able to put trust in the pattern and hook it up.
In the tutorial, I show you my little diagram I made and explain how this shawl works. Once you get it, you will think “AH HA!!! I’ve got this!”

such a lovely pattern; thank you so very much for translating from words to a diagram/chart which can usually be understood by anyone; sometimes the words just do not describe clearly what the creator intended; to make a project larger use a size or two or three larger hook; or just make a longer chain then work the pattern for two rows to decide if it is your desired size then simply undo the leftover chains and re-tie a knot; also, go on Ravelry to find the pattern and often many people have made the item, put up notes and photos; meant to be helpful...goodwill to all

Thanks, your instructions are easy to follow. I made this shawl; I used two skeins of Bernat Softee Baby in soft peach. It came out beautiful.

Love this project. It took longer than I thought it would but I did finish it. I am doing another one using a "baby" yarn. I wanted it to be really soft. However, I would like to make it wider. 201 ch was perfect for the other one but this one should have more. What are the increments for that? Thank you, you are a great teacher.

I know this is 2.5 yrs old but I cannot with my eyes and the color of the yarn, I just cannot figure out the reverse crochet like where the hook ends up going through after it disappears at the front. I wish I could figure it out cuz the shawl itself is a piece of cake(huge thank you to Mikey for that!!!) it’s just the boarder that’s got me stumped. I know I’m having a harder time due to my eyesight and the reddish color of the yarn but I just can’t seem to get it going. I wonder if there’s another border that won’t take away from the beauty of this actually very simple shawl! Even though it looks very tricky and complicated after it’s finished! 😉 ♥️

Any idea how many chains for different sizes? I think it's groups of 8 + 10 but that gives me 202 chains so I guess it's wrong.

Wonderful video Mikey! Very easy to follow. May I ask how many skeins of Caron cakes you used? Or how many yards? Bernat satin is not available in my area, and Caron cakes are hard to get ☺. However, I have some bernat pop (I believe that's what they are called) that would be perfect for this! Have a wonderful day!
