The pix at 0.21 with dozens of HEMIs is enough to cause terminal drooling. Imagine what they'd be worth today! Interesting information.

My father bought a new 1965 Coronet with a single 4 barrel Race Hemi. The car was originally ordered for some type of (dirt road?) rally racing, but something. happened to original buyer before he took delivery of the car. The magnesium intake, attracted heat and got hot, unlike the aluminum intake that dissipates heat. Chrysler would swap the aluminum intakes for the magnesium intakes if the owners desired. His engine had cast iron heads, which maybe all of the single 4 barrel had. A lot of the two 4 barrel 1965 Race Hemi's got aluminum heads. My father added the cross ram intake and had custom headers made for it. I think the original camshaft may have been different from the factory crossroad engines, but I'm not sure. He rebuilt it and changed the cam several times over its drag racing years. The NASCAR connecting rods were at some point heavier than the drag race connecting rods and I think the Street Hemi rods were based on the drag race rods. I don't know the years offhand, of which years had different NASCAR connecting rods, but it may not have been all NASCAR Hemi's.

A dual plane manifold outperformed a single plane? Hmmm. Maybe a rule that stated that the manifolds had to be similar to production cars of the day... Thanks!
