So much to unpack with this masterpiece song. There's numerous reasons why Deja Vu is regarded as one of the best records ever made. This song kinda sums it all up.
If this wasn’t in your album collection back in the day, you didn’t have one. Gotta say Biz, you’ve been covering the Classic Era perfectly….
I probably haven’t heard this track in 25 years and every word immediately came back. Loved this. I think it needs to go back in the rotation.
"Audio art with a golden frame." Couldn't have put it better! It's a beautiful song.
Jeez, so many joints have been smoked sitting cross legged on the carpet...in our apt. This album is a historical reference for a very specific time in a whole lotsa folks lives...and boy, it was good.
Yes, yes it was.
Yep. Driving around with friends or hanging out at someone's house whose parents aren't home.
I can only repeat what everyone else has said. This album is a masterpiece. This album came out when I was in high school and was the soundtrack that I remember most vividly. I still have this album and play it regularly, it is timeless.
Great freaking album! 50 plus years old. I didn’t know you covered Almost Cut My Hair 🔥
"WOODEN SHIPS" 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Awwww, I still have my original-- this exemplified the heart of an era. ✌
I have mine as well, purchased in '70 I suppose. I was 25 then, I'll turn 79 next month.
That is one extremely beautiful piece of music. Have you heard more beautiful harmony? And the instruments are so perfectly matched to those harmonies.
Back when the music industry was creating art, at least the best of the best.
Great album. I rolled a lot of seeds off this album cover.
Well, that’s a good referral if I’ve ever heard one! Actually, so did I.
Seeds, heh. I remember when the wares arrived with those, even had a few volunteers sprout in the flower beds near my favorite chill out spot over the years...
Lol...down to seeds and stems.
This is one of my most favorite CSN&Y songs of all times. I grew up on pre-CSN&Y in the 60's, a kid fan of the Buffalo Springfield (Stephen Stills and Neil Young), the Byrds (David Crosby), and the Hollies (Graham Nash). When they came together just before Woodstock, it was a natural conclusion. The greatest musical, acoustic, and VOCAL group ever.
The stars aligned.
Agree with others, classic song and masterpiece album, a desert island disc for sure. Great band! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎤🎸🎤🎸🎤🎶🔥
This song, and Guinevere which you must listen to If you haven't already, they are tuned in an open tuning called the Bruce Palmer modal tuning. Each guitar has a specific tuning and they're all playing different parts and it all comes together. Genius! I've been playing all this on the guitar since I was in high school in the mid 70's... ❤🎉
One of my favorite albums. So good. Thanks for the reaction!
Great song. We were more open to Deja Vu, ESP, and transcendental meditation then. Now technology and social media consume the young.
This song is a masterpiece !
Crosby believed in reincarnation citing: among several things (1) how else did he know how to sing harmonies at age 6, (2) having the persistent delusion all his life that he had been somebody else before and (3) the first time he went sailing it all came so naturally to him it felt like he had done it before.
I hold the same beliefs.
HEYYYYYY FAM, WHAT UP MAN!!! 😊 SO THIS IS THE TITLE TRACK FROM THE ALBUM BIZ! 👍 R.I.P ☹ DAVID
Always an incredible track to listen to at anytime, and that is truly magical.
Hell yes
Beautiful song! We all heard it a million times, but never gets old…thank you for the reaction
Next song of theirs if you like harmonies is Helplessly Hopeing just unbelievable sounding. I think you would enjoy 49 bye byes of the 4 Way Street live album pretty political it's great.
Their voices blend so well...
Love the art with a golden frame around it analogy!
Nuther buncha talented men singing.
An absolutely fine LP,with everyone having their own songs and helping the others to shine through those beautiful harmonies. I love the guitar and bass solos with Neil´s harmonica below.Almost a jazzy vibe.
It's a sadder, darker album after CSN and there was reason for that. It comes through and it's a very REAL album. More enigmatic. David's girlfriend had been killed in a car accident, GN and JM were breaking up, SS wasn't over JC, Manson murders changed the vibe in LA, Altamont... a definite shift and they captured it.
Biz, I'd like to recommend checking out some of David Crosby's solo album, "If I Could Only Remember My Name"---
He has musical guests on it that will blow your mind:
Jerry Garcia & Phil Lesh from the Grateful Dead
Gregg Rollie & Michael Shrieve from Santana
Joni Mitchell
Grace Slick and Paul Kantner from Jefferson Airplane, etc..
"Tamalpais High" is a great cut from that album, featuring Jerry on lead guitar..
"Song With No Words" is also jaw-droppingly gorgeous...
ENTIRE ALBUM IS FANTASTIC!!!! WARPED IT IN 70'S... 1969 "WOODSTOCK" SEE CROSBY, STILLS, NASH IN THEIR FIRST PERFORMANCES!!🎸🎹🎶
Should be heard on a quality stereo, with big speakers,15' apart.
I can't believe the people associated with that "Severance" show! I had never heard of it until now. Thanks for taking the time to describe it. I'm gonna have to buy a DVD or stream that.
Sooo many joints rolled on this album cover. ❤😊
0ne of my favourite albums❤ and excellent song also! Love it!!❤ 🇨🇦
70’s 70’s 70’s
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
"Almost Cut My Hair" a track off the album is smokin' hot. Writer David Crosby is the solo vocalist on this song without any harmonies from the other band members which is unusual as they mostly record their material singing in harmony. David on rhythm guitar throughout this song enhances this masterfully. 💫🎤🎸🎹🥁🔊🔥☮🎧Just edited this as I noticed you reacted to it 3/4 of a year ago.😞
I don't know if you did "Don't Let it Bring you Down" yet, but if not, go do it. It's a Neil song, and it's awesomeness. ❤
Haven't listened to this in a long time. Thanks for reacting!
Damn. That guitar, the harmonies.. they've been a part of the soundtrack of my life. Try 'Wooden Ships' off the live '4 Way Street' album.
Very relaxing lol
Oh yeah one of my faves❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
If you love this, you must check out David Crosby’s “If I Could Only Remember My Name” LP. Great cuts with many collaborating from Jefferson Airplane & The Grateful Dead. Worth a listen. ✌️❤️🎶
We have all been here before, we have all been here before
Hey Biz. This album is part of the soundtrack of my life! (I'm not exaggerating!) Back in the day when I went to someone's house for a party, this song and entire album was always playing in the background. When you can listen to something hundreds of times and still enjoy it, you know it's great music. Thanks for reacting to this one. Peace.
You’ve got to give a listen to Crosby’s solo album ‘If I Could Only Remember My Name’. It’s a gem. ☮️💜
Joni Mitchell wrote Woodstock. I like her version as well as their version.
Like your hat. 🙂
Well said!!
Must watch BBC videos, just Crosby and Nash - Crosby on Lee Shore is mesmerizing, to me, his masterpiece, play it when I cross over.. And Guinevere and Traction in the Rain. David had the voice of an angeL.
This album was in constant rotation when I was a young teen hanging out with my friends. It's a beautiful album. Have you done "almost cut my hair" from it? Another great vocal from David. Still one of my favorite albums
man... your reactions rule!!!!
Very nice, thank you.
Great perspective
Another album worthy of a track by track review...
Wore the grooves out on this one.
I was here!
The harmonica is John sabathion
Suffering succotash 😂
Under all the superficial B@#$%it we fill our days with. Under the ground of Life. Eternity, said Frankie Lee.
I was lucky to see CSN in like 1986, it was a great show. Young was not there.
☮️💙💙💙🔥🔥
I beg you to do Country Girl
I ALREADY DID IT
you know, the idea of reincarnation, in the spiritual sense, IS sort of a torture, as you say. "Going around and around the wheel" is a chance to figure it out, a bit more each time, so you don't have to do it anymore. When you finally get it, you stay with the great big ONE, whatever that ultimately is.
I wore the first one out and had to by a second.
Well, I have to leave a comment, so....
They don't make music like this anymore! All we have now is a fake artist called Ms T. Swift ... God help us all.
Hmm, maybe you're not looking hard enough. The top forty will never be what it was, but that doesn't mean great music isn't being made in the under ground anymore. "What's going on under the ground..."
@@mikecaetano Hmmmm, too bad you failed to include some examples in your response! And what exactly do you mean by 'under the ground'?
This song has such a Vibe, with wonder, curiosity and defiance of expected societal norms.
So much potential for positive change, but that hope was going to be suffocated soon enough.
I've had a prolonged encounter with the experience of Deja Vue, not something I was comfortable with.
