Hey Ben, the Subaru is all about safety which is why when your drive mode popped up after placing the vehicle in reverse. For example, pulling out of a garage after an overnight blizzard in Utah. I purchased the 2020 Outback Touring L for my wife last year. It was a dealer's rental car for their customers having their vehicle service. The car only had 22k miles and still had a new car smell. I wished Subaru offered a mini-van and small pickup truck in their vehicle lineup. Don't know why I never considered Subaru before. I think it's because they ended the Brat which was an awesome pickup truck. In high school throw the guys in the bucket seats and head up to the Friday night Football game.
Bought my 2023 white outback onyx last year, and I LOVE IT! I'd been drooling over Outbacks for years and finally made the jump. I keep my cars for 10 years plus, so it was time to purchase the car I'd wanted for so long. Definitely ask for a tutorial from your dealership so they can help you set up some of the touchscreen nuances. I find that Subaru dealerships really want to make sure that we all appreciate their features. Anyway, I adore my Susie Subaru and am happy to be part of the family!
I just purchased a 2023 Outback Touring XT and I kind of regret going with the touring. I originally ordered an Onyx XT, but decided to upgrade because I thought I wanted the extra creature comforts. Now that I've had the touring for a couple months, I really don't like the chrome and the driver distraction mitigation system is so annoying. I wish I'd gone with the onyx because it's far more attractive in my opinion. Plus I could have saved myself almost $4000. Hindsight is always 20/20.
Just ordered the Onyx a couple weeks ago but did fret over which trim I'd be happiest with. All trims have their pros and cons. Living in Alaska I would have liked the heated steering wheel you have. 🙂
@@TwoAlaskans I get it. The heated steering wheel was one of the top reasons I upgraded. I live in Ohio and it's pretty cold here 5-6 month of the year. I do love many of the Touring's features, but I'm just not sure they're worth the significant upcharge.
Two additional features on the Onyx, cell phone holder by passengers left knee and backseat reclines. Little handles down low by outside door. I purchased the Onyx XT last week, it’s slick
Nice vehicle but I would rather have the XT model as it comes with the 2.4L Turbo and a full size spare. The one thing the Onyx model is missing in the states is the heated steering wheel. It is offered on this trim level in Canada but not in the US. Come on Subaru!!
@@TwoAlaskans Subaru announced that for the 2024 model year the Onyx, Onyx XT and Wilderness models will have a heated steering wheel as standard equipment! Yes!!
Well done review. Really like the Outback, looks particularly nice in the Onyx trim in white. The neon stitching really works with the Star Tex fabric.
I really hate it when the climate control is in the infotainment system. Its also strange that subaru put such a massive infotainment system in the car and went super cheap with the analog gauges. Love the front end though!
hi Alex, I have a Subaru 2023 Onyx Outback and am considering to have a dash cam/rear cam on it, do you have any video showing how to do it? any input will be appreciated. thanks
@@BigBootyJudy40ozBounce lol. My WRX does fine if i drive on cruise control. Intllelligent mode. But I don't drive like this should have bought civic or corolla for that purpose
I looked at this vehicle yesterday. Nice looking. Seats were comfortable. Didn't drive it (yet). The other car im looking at is the Mazda CX50 (both in the turbo configuration). Anyone have any thoughts ?
I picked up an Onyx today - almost exactly the same model as in the video. Lots of good reviews on the Mazda, but every single person I talked to who has a Subaru raves about them. I also prefer the style and features on the Subaru. Ended up not going for the Turbo but it drives fine. Good luck in your search!
I had a Mazda CX5 rental car for week and would never want to buy one. The rear storage was limited…much smaller than Outback behind back seat. I drive an XC60 and wasn’t impressed by the Mazda cx5 at all. After having an XC60 that I adore for 12 years, will be going to Outback onyx
If you want a smoother ride from a CX-50, stay away from the 20" wheels/low profile tires. Those wheel/tire combo will beat you up. I had one for a whole weekend and hated it.
@@GoDodgerBlueScarletBuckeye cvt acceleration feels sluggish especially standstill and slow speed , and hard to control torque output in off road or bad road condition. In short, it’s slower than most A/T.
Went in thinking of getting a Crosstrek.....left with a Onyx. I have the green and black trim. And the Star Tex fabric is awesome.
That's great an all but my 06 Subaru outback is still running strong 240k miles later 😂 these are excellent vehicles
Good video and review. Thanks! Am waiting for my 2023 Onyx to show up. Will see how long that takes (ordered 1/13/2023 with delivery date in May).

Thanks for the video! This helped convince me on a white 2023 Onyx that I was able to drive home today! Big change from my old 2014 Chevy Cruze!
Excellent report, all a person needs in a small package.
I like this Subaru.
They’re not small at all, just not quite as tall as traditional SUVs.
Love my 2023 Onyx!!💗💗💗

My dream Subaru SUV!! Amazing job Ben.
Hey Ben could you find the absolute basic no options ram 2500 and try to do a review on it

The ride quality is awesome!
We ❤ our outback . Great seats!
XT (turbo) is much more quiet in interior. Even when accelerating. I’m going w/ turbo.

Thank you for the review. It is helpful. 🎉
The odd black along the front sides of bumper looks bizarre
Plz do vid on this. Thx! Starlink app service will be discontinued + no longer available at end of March 2023
If you are someone that loves a wagon, this is your only affordable option.
Knock $10k off it and its affordable
@@thesuccesseffect7969 The only other wagons that come to mind will be from Volvo and Audi.
I prefer spending a bit extra and get volvo v60 with diesel
@@dolguldur4706 I haven't seen a diesel option in the U.S, but if it's available that's probably the preferable way to go.
Same engine as the forester?

2023 Subaru Outback Onyx Symmetrical AWD!
Does it have automatic highbeams on/off?
Is it normal for subarus to idle above 1.5k rpm upon start up?
Just finished the first 6-month service. The real MPG is far below 26, and it’s annoying that the headlights can never be turned off.
I guess worth buying XT then. It will get almost same MPG. Right?
Subarus mpg rating is only achievable if the vehicle is off and rolling down hill.

anyway, your hairstyle is good.
I'm on the fence between the Outback and the Rav4
I checked out as soon as I heard CVT
Well too bad you didn't hear what he said about it while driving it.
CVT

But it still has a cvt 😒
A good one
Dear lord...please make subaru and nissan divorce with cvt 🤲🏻
Why?
