    I love my 2023 outback. Only had it 7 days and love the ride, the soft touch closing on the doors, the like the screen, not too crazy as in a Tesla and if I'm not mistaken. The ground clearance is the same as my 2015 model but the new '23 model feels higher. I selected brilliant bronze metallic w/black interior. Taking up to Northern California next week for its first long distance trip. Can't wait. Thank you for your video and all information.

      The new Dark Mahogany Pearl color truly is beautiful. The only problem is that the interior color that comes with it is dark grey and lighter gray with black accents. With essentially every exterior color other than mahogany this gray-on-gray color is awesome. But gray on gray does not at all blend well with mahogany. It makes for a mismatched gloominess which does not fit the Outback at all. A tan or light brown interior with the mahogany exterior would be truly awesome. Perhaps the reason for the gray on gray is that the Subaru Star Tech materiel (which is far better than leather) only comes in gray. In any event, the Subaru Outback in any color combination is an automotive work of art that is perhaps the best bargain of the automotive world. And oh man are they ever fun to drive (especially the wickedly quick Turbo).

  • @jomama01
    @jomama01 Год назад +2

    Quality coming out of SOA right now is abysmal. Picked up our new 2023 Outback last Sunday and noticed dent on top of rear fender (not where someone could have dinged it with their door), a hood that has over 1/4” gap on the passenger side and is rubbing the front fascia on the other side, and found debris left in the engine compartment from assembly. Just look at how poorly the rear hatch surround fits (dark plastic pieces next to the rear window) and why Subaru would ever let it leave the factory like this. Also check out how the rear bumper cover fits to the rear fender - on ours the fender sits outside the bumper cover which is probably more of a part quality issue over assembly screw up.
    We waited over a year for dealers to get real with their pricing and should have waited a bit longer for quality to have improved. Our Japanese built Subarus (3 Imprezas, 1 Crosstrek and 1 Forester) had noticeable better body assembly, tighter panel fit and superior paint finishes. Our Japanese built Forester looks as good as the day we picked it up seven years ago.
    Subaru can pack all the gimmicks they want into their cars, but we’ve always purchased Subarus (now our 11th) for their build quality and expectations of reliability. Our recent purchase confirmed our suspicions that they “don’t build them like they used to” at Subaru.

    I have a 2023 Onyx XT on order in the US and we don't get the heated steering wheel on that trim like Canada does, but I'm happy with the content, overall. I plan to keep this car for at least 150000 miles and I'm a little worried about how reliable the turbo engine and CVT transmission will be over time, but Subaru has made substantial improvements to this powertrain so I am hopeful. I'm usually not one to buy extended warranties, I think they are almost always a waste of money because they expire at 100000 miles, which is when issues typically start. That said, I MIGHT get one this time due to the complexity of the powertrain.

    Very excited - taking delivery of our 2023 Onyx 2.5 (base) tomorrow. One curious thing - I had ordered (alongside the dealership salesperson) a standalone auto-start feature. You can see it is available as an accessory - and advertised by subaru as an option so you don't have to pay an annual fee subscription to Starlink to have the remote-start function. THis was why we purchased the extra feature. For some reason - my dealer salesperson told me that he was told by Subaru USA that this was no longer an option for 2023 outbacks and I would have to pay for the Starlink subscription in order to have the remote start functionality. I am wondering if this is accurate - and why SUbaru still has the standalone feature available as an option. Any ideas?

      Not any time soon.... Subaru Heavy Industry is a big corporation but its auto department is a small. It produces only specialty vehicles..... revenue from its auto department is small compared to what it gets from other heavy equipment production..... so Subaru is in no rush to jump on the EV or hybrid band wagon... plus, all Subaru vehicles are selling very well in their ICE form... so there are no urgent needs to go hybrid or EV... however, Subaru does have an EV known as Solterra.......it's basically a rebadged Toyota bZ4X..... but it's on "recall" status now due to manufactured defect.... Subaru did try to get license to use the Toyota synegy hybrid powertrain system, but Toyota refused to grant license for Subaru to use it. Most SUVs (few exceptions) are wagons by definition (RAV4, etc.) The Outback is more of SUV than many other SUVs. calling the Outback a wagon is an example of white noise. Please see the video on my channel for this specific topic.

    Electrified Subie?????? Hybrid Subie????? Not any time soon.... Subaru Heavy Industry is a big corporation but its auto department is a small shed. It's proprietary technology, and Toyota is not ready to share it with anyone, even though Toyota does own 20% of Subaru Heavy Industry Inc.

    I have a 2018 outback premium. I f'in hate the cvt trans and how absolutely gutless it is when it has not warmed up in particular. I have never driven a car that I have thought I was going to die in on a daily basis because it can't get out of its own way. It is a good highway cruiser though and nice and quiet. I put cross climate two tires on it and that improved my spirited driving a lot. That thing will go anywhere in the snow with those tires. I will literally go over the speed limit and drive faster than anybody else with confidence. Unfortunately I couldn't handle the gutless lack of power and ended up looking at faster cars. I bought a tesla model 3 but I still have the subaru as a 2nd car that literally gets driven about 20 miles a month. It's nice to know that no matter what the weather that I can get in the subaru and drive it anywhere that has a normal road. I might even trade it in for a new 2023 if there are cvt improvements and also get the turbo. But I would still only drive it a few hundred miles a year.

      You "drive over the speed limit and go faster than anybody else with confidence" in a Subaru Outback that "has a gutless CVT" that "can't get out of its own way" ?????? Does this make sense to anyone out there who is reading this? Drive the 2020-2023 turbo Outback and then get back to us on your opinion. Are there "CVT improvements" since the 2018 model? Oh yeah. There are improvements. Man, there are improvements.

    So I really don't think it's original I really do believe that while the Outback is so phenomenal they kind of stole that stole that idea from AMC Eagle when that vehicle was around after that vehicle was discontinued when Chrysler bought AMC and so the rest of that off that's when the Outback came out
