Sorry the vid took so long. RUclips blocked first upload, Sony Vegas crashed twice, rendering took forever etcetc
You should check out Thor Skywalker's review on the Anakin/Ventress duel, particularly this fight and how it culminates the dichotomy between Anakin and Ventress.
Hey, I am new on your channel. You make very good content. Greatings from Germany👍🏻
Nice video mate. Fav reaction "this boy thinks they're dominoes or some shit" aha ha ha ha ha ha!!! Classic!!
Fun fact: That Shaggy looking jedi's name actually was Sha'a Gi.
wait for real hahaha thats amazing
@@FamilyGuyRoks6 Yep. And he's based on him.
@@nofacedgoldfish6216 this made my night hahah :D
God bless Genndy Tartakovsky starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Sha%27a_Gi
he was also the padawan to the jedi who was killed while contacting Kenobi; said-master was also the only person who could keep the padawan calm, so...
Ahsoka: We we’re trained to be keepers of the peace, not soldiers.
Windu: Allow me to introduce myself
Also Windu: "We're keepers of the peace, not soldiers!"
@@Darceus2000 Yeah I don't know why they had Ahsoka as the original person to say it when it was obviously Windu.
This version of Grievous is the one I wish we got in later versions. He doesn't make boasts like his later incarnation, he doesn't get beaten by a bunch of Gungans. He can actually back up any boasts that he could make. He focuses on actually killing Jedi instead of running his mouth off. And the music they used in his introduction fight is perfect! I always love re-watching this fight as well as watching other people's first reactions to it.
You have to give Gungans credit. They are warriors and their weapons were quite effective against cyborgs.
@@kenpoarniceguy1 You'd think Grievous would know that. But nope...Filoni doesn't know how to write villains.
I heard a rumor that George "nerfed" him because he was too cool/scary and didn't want him to surpass Vader
its both george being like nah i want a mustache twirling coward by ROTS and then filoni later needing a villain to be used a lot thats recognizable but always loosing
however i will defend the gungans since they are supposed to be a warrior culture of physically strong aliens, jar jar is just a clumsy ass silly guy.
its like judging my dumbass dropping a pizza in the kitchen vs someone who is a trained warrior lmao
but also yes the 3 prequel vllains are just there to wank off vader as hes supposed to be all 3 but better
I know people prefer this version, but we do have to keep in mind that the version that’s in TCW is far more accurate to George Lucas’ version of the character that’s in ROTS.
Anakin’s duel with Ventress is one of the best depictions of Anakin’s descent to the Dark Side. Also Anakin is still a Padawan in this fight so I think it’s still canon seeing as the first episode of the CGI Clone Wars chronologically takes place 6 months after the Battle of Geonosis and he’s a Knight by that point. So IMHO I think it’s still canon
Anakin kills ventress in this though, and the events of this show end just before ep3, its the original "between ep2-3" canon before 2008 took over. I personally prefer this canon, it actually respects the characters and tone, and shows the actual potential of the prequels, whereas I feel the 2008 show went down the other road, the way the prequels didn't excel...and went from there
@@peaceunion5316 I respect that. But to be fair we didn’t see Ventress die. We saw her fall off a cliff but falling off of things doesn’t mean anything in Star Wars.
@@TBoring it does, maul fell into a hole and died (I dont accept his fan service revival for that 2008 show. i found it to be unnecessary and out of place). Palpatine fell down the hole in jedi (and I refuse to accept the disney canon, so he stayed dead). Plus you never see ventress again in that series, i think its safe fo assume anakin killed her
@@peaceunion5316 maul was also cut in half before he fell in the hole, thats the more pressing issue than falling down a hole, he would have died even if there wasnt a hole
@@peaceunion5316 but don’t forget that Luke fell down a hole in ESB and survived.
Grievous' voice gets better in the following episodes. In this one he's voiced by John DiMaggio, which wasn't one of his stronger performances tbh. He got replaced with Richard McGonagle, whose calm and collected voice makes for a great contrast coming out of that monstrous design. And that Grievous has become my favorite Star Wars baddie.
You can still kinda consider that Anakin and Ventress duel canon. In TCW movie, Dooku tells Ventress she can get her revenge on Anakin, most likely referring to this duel
Yeah. It's obvious that TCW was meant to tie into the OG clone wars series. But they stopped caring for some reason.
Yeah his voice is different but you'll see as to why and it's way more badass. I really wish they would have kept this canon in some capacity. Yes that is Ki-Adi-Mundi. That one green girl in Ilum surprised me in TCW because I assumed she was always good and for them to change her after this was just heartbreaking for me
Big props to Asaaj Ventress, because running backwards up a flight of stairs in the rain and the dark whilst wearing a floor length dress AND having a fight using TWO lightsabers HAS to be difficult, and she makes it look easy.
Mini trivia, when they were makin the series, they tried to make it as close to canon with the small information they were given. Grievous for example was given a vague description of bein a droid that hunts jedi and collects their light sabers, but nothin on his personality and presentation. So this is how we got this version of grievious, aswell as his first introduction of the star wars media . Its a sad irony that despite this mini series as bein the most worked on to fit the canon of the 2nd and 3rd episode of the star wars films has been savagely pushed to no longer be considered canon.
Actually this Grievous is the one Lucas wanted. The point of Grievous is to be the precursor Darth Vader but also the opposite of him. As such, Grievous was agile and fast.
Almost unnaturally fast.
@@ALJ9000 Cue the infamous 20 strikes per second.
Марк Гацко More like 20,000
Genndy Tartakovsky is a master of visual storytelling. His action and still shots alike are impactful
Haven't watched these in years but I only just realised that in the Ventra fight Anakin mimics Luke attacking Vader in Return of the Jedi at the end
This series had so many little call backs it was truly a labor of love the real Clone Wars in my very flawed opinion
Always remember, Grievous went from this to being beaten by Captain Tarpels
As much as I love the 2008-2020 Clone Wars series, I will always dislike that version of Grevious.
Yeah. Filoni turned Grievous from a scary Jedi killer to a Hannah-Barbera villain.
Did you forget he killed Tarpals then used it as sacrifice.
Grevious was defeated by Jar Jar never forget that.
@@vetarlittorf1807
As much as I don't like Filoni. It was George Lucas that wanted Grievous to be a Saturday morning cartoon villain.
This series just shows how powerful and impactful 2D animation can be.
The ending of this series tied in perfectly with the beginning of episode III
LOVED these classically animated shorts. to me, in a way, it showed how badass some of the characters are moreso than the cgi clone wars. you got more of a story and depth with cgi clone wars, but you felt the power and fear more with these shorts. especially with grievous.
I love how the Anakin/Ventress fight went from her going there to assassinate him with Anakin on defense to Anakin switching to offense and Ventress running away
3:17 try to remember this series occurs in a continuity where Barriss remained a jedi who met her demise on Felucia, if you would.
Or don't; up to you.
That moment when you hear dual of fates and see anakin pissed... goosebumps 😈🔴
I've been super excited for this reaction series, you're going to absolutely love the second part even more.
I believe the reason the Jedi seem so op in this series is cause it’s being told like a story a kid would tell I think? Like obviously windu couldn’t take all those droids with no saber like that but it was shown as what that kid on the hill would say about it
To me this was the Anakin i wanted to see in the movies. Seeing his amazing force powers and combat skills, also he descend to the dark side was sooo well done it adds more emotion and shows how dark he was becoming. Love your reaction.
So happy you're covering this micro series, your reactions are so adorable and cute.
This is the star wars they should put in the live action movies.
Yup, Grievous has 4 arms during the battle of hypori(duel with mundi). The reason why he didn't use them it's becouse he has a sort of code, infact he use the 2 adictional arms when he fight a worthy opponent. He simple considered Mundi and the others unworthy.
Hope more people find this series, its my favorite star wars stuff on screen hands down.
10:37 I found this funny as hell
Grievous jumps and looks epic with badass music but suddenly the picture changes to yoda who watch with wide eyes
Ventress VS Clones:

Hmm.... something is wrong here.... -Anakin
Grievous VS Jedi Masters:
_Chippity Choppity, your weapons are my property._
Yaaaaaaaaaaaay. Love the old Clone Wars. Great reaction as usual! love from Argentina LJ
I love how when he was hitting Ventress over and over he was imagining the Jedi that he feels betrayed him.
Actually it's more like the ones that can sense his rage
REAL COOL VIDEO, 5 stars girl wow, you remember me watching this back then in 2003-2004, my jaw also drop to the floor hahahaj this was the conection back then to understand better what was gonna happen in Revenge of the Sith , who was General Grievous and how Anakin evolves from padawan to a full jedi knight (with some darkside). Am telling you if you enjoy this just wait to see the final of this amazing miniseries.
Episodes seem cut in the middle because what you see here is the DVD edition cut on its own chapters. The DVD edition just took all the episodes of the short episodes seasns and blended them together (they were originally 3 minutes shorts episodes) The Volume II is the later season and built in a more tradtionnal manner and is one big coherent episode in its DVD edition.
Volumes mean one volume is one DVD. So they were sold as a two DVDs box set.
I remember watching this series as a kid--- feels good to watch it again!
I've been looking forward to this *dooku smile*
Re: "canon": Everything you see or read about Star Wars is fiction, it all happened a long time ago in a galaxy that doesn't actually exist. Therefore, canon doesn't really exist. Even fanfic is 100% valid. Just enjoy the stories you like and ignore the one's that don't fit for you. Disney doesn't have the authority to say you can't enjoy the Young Jedi novels or Ewok movies just because they say it's not "official". Love them all! EVEN THE HOLIDAY SPECIAL :P
Exactly, I still enjoy the old comic books, they had some great story lines and treated the material with respect.
I still consider these stories canon. There really isn't any reason why they still couldn't be. They don't really contradict much in the other Clone Wars show.
So to answer the question raised in the video, that is one of yavins moons, probably yavin 4 as it has old ruins occupied by the remnant of the massassi, all legends now, but you can see the giant red planet in the approach which is the planet yavin.
That giant droid hover's stomp has made me jump since its debut I was 8
THIS right here is why so many people were disappointed with Grievous in ROTS. Yeah I know Mace crushed his chest but still.
This version of grievous is my ONE TRUE GRIEVOUS!!!!!
You gotta admire the sound design in this. The makers of this show are geniuses, same genius that gave Samurai Jack and Sym-Bionic Titan.
You should see the shots in Samurai Jack, they're painting worthy quality
The last scene with Ventress makes me think when Darth Vader falls under the attack of Luke Skywalker and lose his hand. And we can see the difference between Anakin and Luke :
- Anakin kills Ventress, who is in weakness position. He kills Count Dooku who lost his hands.
- Luke leaves Vader alive, after defeated him
4:28 It’s actually the ruins on the Yavin IV moon, what will become the rebel base in A New Hope.
Yeah the way they drew this was AWESOME
this was originally 5 min commercials on cartoon networks adult swim. Anthony Daniels is the voice c3po
This was the first time general grievous was introduced. It should be criminal making this material legends. It only gets better from here...
Yes so this was the introduction to grievous that's why his voice sounds like that and mace was the one who got started coughing
If you watch closely at 5:05 you can literally see the clone trooper get blown apart by the explosion. god damn
This series is so underrated because people just assume the storytelling and effort isn’t on par with 2008 clone wars. When really if you look at it tells so much with visuals and does a lot in limited time, Gendy was a master at this. It’s an almost perfect bridging of the gap between eps 2 and 3
Yeah that mace windu bit and anakins rage, exicute order nerd Bonner 😂😂
3:00 Damm I hate how clone wars 2008 made her a villain when originally she was never like that in this show or the books
The duel took place on the Fourth Moon of Yavin, aka Yavin 4...aka the planet with the big Death Star Battle in Episode 4
It ends...NOOOOOO!!!!! lol. These are really great episodes that fill in the void between movies. You get to understand how things turned out the way they did. And yes,...you shall find out how Grievous ends up the way he is. Enjoy!
The planet Anakin & Ventress fight on is actually Yavin IV
I agree the duel on Yavin should 100% be Canon!
I think it still could be. The battle and the entirety of volume 1 of the series takes place when Anakin was still a part of one and had short hair. In the beginning of the CGI show he had longer hair and was official Jedi. So it is possible that these events still happened.
Yes that was Ki Adi Mundi in this animation style.
It can still be Canon if you watch it a certain way that fits in with rest of it all.
This definitely has tons of style, using image and sound to tell it's story's. The Clone Wars has a lot more depth and lore, arcs and character growth.
Both are excellent pieces of media, but I prefer the CGI show for character stuff with the Clones and the other main characters.
I was never into the samurai jack type art. I’m glad they went digital
Lol your energy 😄 totally subscribed
9:26 shaggy's war scream
The jedi that looks like Shaggy is called "Sha'a Gi" according to the wiki. And I like to think that the reason he died is because he didn't have Scu 'Bi with him ;)
And yes, Anakin and Ventress are fighting on Yavin 4. Fun Fact: In the original original canon, Anakin and Ventress only meet twice in the Clone Wars. First on Yavin, second time I forget where but Ventress is the reason Anakin gets the scar on his eye and Anakin KILLS Ventress during that encounter.
Have you ever seen the Holiday Special? If not it's on full on RUclips for free and a reaction would be hilarious. It's so bad it's good, especially stoned.
You gotta check out robot chickens Gary the stormtrooper and the high ground 😂
I enjoy watching your videos keep the good work going
You should react to some of the Old Republic cinematics!
The chronological order is "Return", "Hope", "Deceived", "Sacrifice", and "Betrayed"
Damn Mace Windu was such an unmitigated BADASS here, even though his character wasn't fleshed out at all. Thank goodness for Filoni's Clone Wars.
As stated in the novels his character is pretty much just "commanding, confident, inspirational, a little arrogant and badass". Which is exactly what he is here. Not the type to need fleshing out.
Ventres is probably fine. I am pretty sure Vindu is the only person in Star Wars who doesn't have immunity to fall damage
i actually liked grievous' voice in this series. it's more confident and menacing IMO :)
It's just strange to hear it sound so different! I'd easily get used to it but first time it's like, wow!
@@LouiseJulie_ oh definitely! when I first heard it, I thought the same thing, but after hearing it a few more times, the delivery just gives me chills!
Yess! Such a good video. More Clone Wars content, definitely!
"we got robbed of this shit?!"
YEAH! YEAH WE DID!!!
Yer killing me with the DARTHMAUL apprentice wait L.J. Lol but that’s ok....I can wait. Yer reactions gonna be epic I think 😉
Greivous wielded the third lightsaber with his foot because he CAN, and it was AWESOME!
Mace WIndu as alway been my Favorit jedi.... he is a fucking God in those serie... No wonder he beated Palpatine in RotS. A motherfucking Gawd !
6:42 Sadly Obi-wan took all the high grounds.
Yep, that was Yavin and yes Grevious 2003 is amazingly badass. You haven't seen anything yet. :)
So we should treat your reactions to 03 Clone Wars like a movie broken up into parts much like the Siege of Mandalore, got it. This is was one of the coolest looking battles for Mace Windu, Ilum was first seen in this series, Anakin duels Ventress on Yavin IV, that duel was sick and apparently Ventress survived that duel. The Padawan that Grievous just STOMPS on is Sha'a Gi, he's based off of Shaggy from Scooby Doo, his backstory is that he's very cowardly & not good as a duelist but proficient in technology with the hope of working in the Jedi Archives when he passed the Jedi trials and became a Jedi Knight. Grievous is SIGNIFICANTLY more badass in Legends than he is in Canon. Also, some stuff from this series helped influenced the 08 Clone Wars series and Star Wars in general as some of the events in this series is alluded to in Canon but just told differently. Volume 2 is next and these chapters are roughly about 15 minutes long so maybe 5 more reaction videos depending on how each chapter is cut from where you watch it.
Blame Dave Filoni for the destruction of Barriss Offee as a character.
If you read Medstar 1 and 2, as well as The approaching storm. Then you will see that Barriss was a very kind and badass peer of Anakin far better than Ahsoka.
However, Filoni sacrificed her on the altar to save Ahsoka from order 66. Who does that bs to save their own oc. I thought only bad fanfic authors did that.
Fun fact: Obi-Wan is voiced by the same guy who voiced in The Clone Wars (2008-2013,2020)
yay another video by one of my favorite youtubers. you are awesome!
10:39 that's my face watching this.
Dammit, I wanted to see your reaction to Yoda owning those damn probe droid wannabes!
Funfact: The Separatists were the good guys in the Clone Wars. They're basically the Rebel Alliance without the fuckin plot armor. Also General Grievous is a badass and hero!
Not really. They were just Palpatine's pawns, just like the Republic. The Sith created the CIS.
@@vetarlittorf1807 Bruh both Palpatine and his former master ordered and funded the creation the Clone armies on Kamino! The Sith gave the Jedi and the Galactic Republic the Clones. The Separatists fought for freedom. They were the rebel alliance without the plot armor.
You're have to watch Volume 2. It's just as dope.
I always loved your reaction to star wars 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I prefer this voice for General Grievous over the all the rest. It’s just more intimidating to me and I’m sad that they didn’t go for this voice I’m episode 3.
You've probably finished it by now but if you just type in on RUclips Star Wars Clone Wars 2003 there are a couple videos of the whole thing in order idk if that's easier for you to follow
Yeah this clone wars is the real clone wars
Facts. Best canon, fights and characterisation
@@peaceunion5316 Finally someone with a brain
Ladies and gentle men I’d like to introduce you all to the REAL General Grievous.
I loved so much this show, and this take it of out of canon, and that was so sad
Also, that is in fact Yavin.
That planet is yavin 4
I posted a comment last week when you asked what you should react to when this series is done my suggestion is the star wars audio comics series they are pretty good yi think you would enjoy them
If you liked this I would most def recommend you to watch Samurai Jack and Primal both amazing series are from the same director
Are the full versions of these reactions available anywhere? The highlights are nice but it'd be cool to see everything in context.
Welcome to the only interpretation of grievous that I acknowledge. Also shaggy was a jedi before he was god
Well what about LoE, Clone Wars: Adventures, Obsession, ROTS novel, Visionaries, etc? GG was great in all of those.
The planet is Yavin IV.
Maces power is shatter point
If this was canon and led onto later episodes of TCW it would be god tier Star Wars
barriss wasnt bad when this came out she was actually pretty cool the newer clone wars fucker her over by making her fall to the dark side
grievous' voice from his first appearance definitely did not age well lol. it gets better when he shows up again later in the show though!
nerd garbage info if you want it, they didnt settle on an accent for him until matthew wood started voicing grievous, since the grievous in this show was based off of unfinished concept work for episode 3
Yeah, his later appearances in the micro-series was a different voice actor who made it sound much better.
