    Wait why do you smash the barb

    • @shakadanny3518
      @shakadanny3518 8 лет назад +2

      FaZe Viper Boii crushing the barb makes it easier to get the hook out of a fish. which equals less time out of the water and a better chance of surviving.

    • @ShakaFishing
      @ShakaFishing  8 лет назад +1

      Right on with Po'opa'a, also keeps the fish from getting a messed up jaw, which kills the fish via starvation. Barbs are made to keep bait on a hook, not to help land the hook so much. If you got good bait placement you do not even rely need the barb to begin with, it is kind of lazy to kill fish you are tossing back because you don't want your bait falling off. Thanks for asking!

  • @fornwith4411

    How often do you check your dunking rig? 20 mins? How would you know if your bait is gone.

    • @ShakaFishing
      @ShakaFishing  7 лет назад +1

      Depends mainly on my bait. If it is live bait and I know from the cast that it did not come off during tossing it out I will let it sit up to an hr or so as the likelihood of it coming off is low. As for bait like shrimp or squid, if there is any signs of hits and then there is non, that usually indicated that something has stolen the bait, I will leave it out a max of a few mins after hits in this case. But if nothing is whacking it 20 mins is a good point, maybe more like 10-15 if you want to be active on the pole.

    Boizz video, was wondering what rods you guys use for dunking and whipping?

    • @shakadanny3518
      @shakadanny3518 8 лет назад +3

      Timothy Chang i would say start with a dependable but not expensive rod seeing as how gear does not last long in the tough hawaiian salt water. It would not be practical for me atleast to buy expensive gear. right now im running a 7 foot medium/light action daiwa sweepfire rod for my whipping rod which costs me around $20. for my dunking rod i have a medium heavy shimano cant remember the design but that costs me around $25 (: just go with what you are trying to catch if your just trying to catch small papios and baitfish go medium light if your trying to hook up something mondo go for medium heavy action. There are hundreds of variations so go for the not so expensive stuff and fine tune wats best for you then buy a nice rod and reel once your sure its right for you. Good luck out there and remember to pick up your trash and release what you dont plan on eating. mahalo!

      The nightmare weke you're talking about is called the obake weke. It's not the one in the video because the obake weke has black and white stripes on the tail.
