- 10 Gallon Aquarium Rack | DISASTER BARELY AVOIDED!!!
In this video I talk about 2 NEW 10 Gallon Aquarium Racks that I built for the new fish room. Between these two racks, they hold a total of 28 10 Gallon Aquariums!!! The main reason I wanted to make this video is to show you all the disaster I barely avoided by making a mistake when building these racks. Patience is key when building a fish room, and rushing almost cost me. WARNING!!! Beautiful Guppies and Endlers!

Great video!!! I'm in the process of building 10, and 20 gallon racks for guppy breeding. Your video has helped with my design.
Indeed a cautionary tale! Good content, nice stands! I'd add that most wood has the possibility to expand or contract when it experiences moisture changes; pressure treated or not. Hard or soft wood. Just like with installing wood floors you should acclimatize the wood you're using in the area it's going to reside. Depending on the difference of the moisture of the wood and the environment it could be several days or weeks to avoid such problems.
I'd also add that when using pressure treated wood for outdoor projects it should also be acclimatized too. Where I am it's also stored outdoors at the big box hardware stores, so if it's been raining recently it's really going to benefit from some acclimatization time.
I’ve been wanting to build my own tank stand, this is going to save me a lot of hardship down the line for sure, thank you so much for sharing with us 🥰
No problem! Thanks for letting me know this is going to help you!!!
You are a huge inspiration to me, just ordered my first rack! Hope my channel can grow in your footsteps! Thank you so much! Much love ✌️
wow that's NUTS! i never would have expected something like that, the treated lumber bowing.
really epic setup, love it! I miss living in my old townhouse that had a basement. I'm now in an apartment so i have to be even extra careful with racks.
Just bought a bunch of wood myself to build a 10 gallon rack. Still in Lowe's for a while thinking about getting treated wood but my inner cheapskate won out and I got regular wood. I'm glad I did now I had no idea that could happen.
Nice Rack design, clean and tidy. Mind to share the exact dimensions of the lumber beams? Did you use different types of beams or just one for the complete rack?
Your rack setup is very nice, I hope to one day have something similar once I have more space. Love the collectoritis haha
10 gallons are great, but I wouldn’t want to live without a couple of 20- or 40 gallons in the dimensions that fits in the aquarium stand.
Great setup
Trying to convince the wife we can do something like yours 😂
Very informative tips on treated vs non-treated lumber. Glad you were observant to catch the bowing earily. I like the configuration you have chosen and also the natural color of the aquarium racks. Am fairly new to the aquarium hobby, so I don't have any specific fish recommendations for you. Be safe & thanks for the video update.📺👍
I really like the natural look as well. I was planning on painting them black, but im happy I didn't.
Very clean I really like how you hung the lights.
Thank you! Do you think it would be something worth covering in a video?
Great video. I would love to see a video focused on that filtration system
Thats a good idea. Thanks!!!
It’s coming along great!!! Good job dude.
Thanks buddy! I really appreciate it!
It looks good!! Pretty fish.
Thanks you!
So glad to see you back my man, I think I may be building one of these racks reals soon, shhhhh
Do it!!!! I'm glad you watched the video. Dont make the same mistake I did. Cost me a little time and money haha
that is a nice looking rack . if i built a rack like that id use untreated lumber , galvanized carriage bolts ,wood stain and clear coat. thanks for the vid
Well shit! I should of talked to you before building it sounds like haha!
very informative-- ty.. what about a few tanks for corydoras, a few different types, breeding projects
Definitely! I have a few 20 gallon tanks with different corydoras species now, but I may grab a few more species to try out!
@@OtterCreekAquatics what are u thinking of getting, tank set up, conditioning, breeding and rearing of fry for each lineage would cover a lot of videos.. Look forward to seeing your work in the future.
Great video ❤️
Thank you 😎
Nice rack dude....super awesome video man....hopefully your aquariums are keeping you busy and sane like ours are....be well buddy 👊
Maybe try turning The rack upside down and setting up a few tanks in the middle of it for a while see if it straightens out
I thought about that! I just used it for fire wood! We are a smores family!!! Hahahaa
Thanks for the heads up 👍🏻
Give me rack fever might need to build another rack soon
That was the goal hahaha! Do it!
What's the name of the plant with the big leafs that are coming out the tank? Thanks!!!!
Hello what size are the wooden beams you took?
Im looking to set up my own rakc. Do you suggest just doing air pump sponge filters?
What a great video once upon a time I was considered Treated lumber also
Playing musical fish tanks 😁 Looks great now!
I know right? When you think you have something the way you want it and then you have to turn around and start over...what a pain! I'm happy with it, and it gives me more of a reason to find new strains haha
Awesome work! What about pink guppies, like pink flamingos?
I have the pingu guppies which are pink and yellow, very beautiful! But I will look into pink flamingos
Thank you For the important information!
Nice video mate good tip
Thanks buddy! I've been going through a few videos on your channel. Really like what you're doing man. Keep up the good work!
@@OtterCreekAquatics Thanks mate appreciate that. maybe we can do something together one day 👍
For sure man! If you have Instagram send me a DM!
Beautiful set up!!
Thank you!
Whats that fish at 2:08 little dude rocking urban camo XD great setup bro
That’s a male Plakat betta
@@OtterCreekAquatics thank you :)
Bro where do u get all of your fishtuber stickers I need some for my collection as well???
What are your measurements for the three 10 gallon racks? Wanna build one for my flowerhorn grow outs except I only wanna have two levels and have six 10 gallons.
Length (left to right) is 32" this will allow 3 10gallons side by side, depth (front to back) is 21" then height (top to bottom) is 20" Hope this helps!
Otter Creek Aquatics awesome thanks a lot you are a life saver🙏😎
No problem good luck with the build!!!
Otter Creek Aquatics thanks will keep you informed😎
Thanks man!
Where'd you get the betta @2:07? Amazing fish.
Man nice video. What kind of lumber do u use? The name of the wood?
Thank You bro
what are the measurements between the shelfs.
I can't remember off the top of my head, and I'm at work right now. They are either 20 or 22in. I know I shot for 8-10 inch gap between the top of the tank and the bottom of the 2x4 above.
thanks for the reply
No problem buddy. If you have any other questions about it just let me know!
Kendall do you have any Shell Dwellers? I’m just about ready to start a colony and I’m needing about 3-4 pairs. This Quarantine is slowing me down in getting rid of all the Albino and Brown long fin Bristlenose plecos. Thanks.
No I don't man. But that is seriously what I want to do with my empty 40 breeder lol
Otter Creek Aquatics, I think they will be an Awsome addition. I’m going to downsize to just 3 tanks and enjoy them.
What size tank are you using for the shell dwellers
Kendall I’m using a 20 gallon Long. I also have a 40 breeder to upgrade to later if I decide to keep it going.
New here thanks for sharing
NICE VIDEO
Where can I buy tanks in bulk?
I get mine at dollar per gallon from petco
@@OtterCreekAquatics yea that’s what I was thinking I’m just waiting on the sale to drop
I feel you! I always mark the calender hahaha
So I should sun out the lumber for a few days for it to be good before I build the rack?
If you are going to use treated, yes. But I'd just use regular
I’d use regular and for peace of mind either paint it or treat it with clear laquer.
otter creek, MD!?
I'm not sure what this means?
@@OtterCreekAquatics ah nevermind then! theres a place called otter creek just down the street from me in maryland ( MD ) :p was about to be like yoooooo sell me some plants. haha
Hahaha I get ya now! You can order some from my website Ottercreekaquatics.com if you'd like :)
Man, how old are you?
:))
I am 28, why?
Nice! I do fish vlogs too. Dropby if you can! :)
Please buy a damn mic to rec your voice. Please
I have a mic. For some reason the audio didn't take well in this video, I didn't realize it until I seen another comment stating the same thing. I apologize
Um, so your good with fish. Ever thing of attending a local construction workshop. Seems your stands are poorly built, glad you made a video, but your still arrogant..it's not my stand building it was the wood.....lol. Ok. Sure buddy.
