Good video. And nice reference to Lew's role in "Muppet Snow White". I'd like to reference his other literary roles, if you don't mind. He's been in Robin Hood twice, as Friar Tuck in the 1980 Muppet book version, and as a fishmonger named Rich, who was one of the Merry Men, in the more recent comic book version. Then, he was a pirate in Peter Pan, an applicant for one of the knights in King Arthur, and one of Irene Adler's servants in Sherlock Holmes. As for the Muppets Meet the Classics series, in Phantom of the Opera he was an opera act doing (what else?) his fish throwing. Don't remember about Tales From the Borther's Grimm. There were so many characters in so many stories in that one.
I love this character. My favorite moment of his was I think a DVD extra. An interviewer asked him how he got on the Muppet Show. His response was, "They were looking for a boomerang fish act, and I was the only one who did that."
These videos are awesome! I’m a huge muppet fan and these deep dives are so fascinating. I would love to see a character video about Seymour from Muppets Tonight someday. Regardless, keep up the good work!
My favorite Lew Zealand appearance was in the Muppets' stand-up special in Canada, where he has to resuscitate the Swedish Chef with a defibrillator after the latter samples the poutine he just made. Having tried the stuff myself, I felt that.
I think Lew enhanced the 3D film in Muppets Take Manhattan because it would be like spoons thrown while watching The Room (Oh Hi Mark). Similar effects have also been used in 4D short film rides
Another reason Lew did not appear in The Muppet Movie is due to the filming schedule of the film and the third season of the Muppet Show. A 3-month hiatus was taken during the filming of Season 3. After 18 episodes of Season 3 were filmed (one of which was presumably the Marisa Berenson episode), the taping of the film began. Evidently, the decision to bring Lew back was decided during the taping, thus his appearance during the opening scene. All of his Season 3 appearances after the Marisa Berenson episode were taped as part of the remaining six episodes of Season 3 put into production after the hiatus.
LEW: i throw the fish away and they come back too meeeeeeeeeeeee! is it just me or deos lew kind of sound like supercerals impression of kermit but worse also it enhances it
You know, when I first saw Lew I thought he was too "Generic Entertainer" looking to be a muppet. But his origin being that Kermit was not impressed with him and then let him join to get out of a jam makes it makes the design make a lot more sense.
@MuptownFunk I agree From being Accidentally offensive, To mostly the forgetten member of the band. To The guy that no one understands but everyone loves.
Sorry to nitpick, but you misremembered a bit of Lew's introductory episode. Miss Piggy didn't hijack the "Wedding Sketch;" The whole "sketch" was her idea, and as such, it was always intended as a way to dupe Kermit into marrying her.
He is like some strange Italian New Zealand carnival charter. He is in the spirit of the theatrical origins of The Muppet Show.
I love Lew. He embodies the Muppet-style absurdist humor so well. He's just very... Muppet.
You gotta appreciate Lew's commitment to the bit.
Lew is my favorite, A madman with a goofy voice who throws fish at people. Truly a example for the children.
Lew Zealand and Crazy Harry are my favorite of what are probably the third-tier Muppets for how utterly wacky they are.
instant sub a few seconds in, i love lew zealand, he's so goofy
I really want Beaker to be next!
Fun! Lew is a fun Muppet, and its nice to see him!

The paper towels gag from Great Muppet Caper is one of his forgotten gem lines
I always loved it when he would kiss the fish goodbye before throwing it. 😂
Oh wow a show featuring Muppets history and lore? That's actually cool sign me up!
Your channel popped up in my recommended and I’m so pleased! Your channel is absolutely delightful!
Lews face in the picture from tonight 😂😂😂😂😂

The 11th episode of The Muppets 2015 series is actually called “Swine Song”.
“Walk the Swine” is Episode 5.

4:20 A ruff, it’s called a ruff
If you're up for it, I'd love an episode (or part of one) on Clifford. He doesn't get enough love.

I modeled my entire life after Lew Zealand and the comedy stylings of Gallagher
Could you do either marvin suggs or crazy harry?
Fun fact: Did you know that Lew Zealand's name is play on the word New Zealand
i did not
thank you
I want Miss Piggy next!!!
Lew is the G.O.A.T
Crazy Harry please
“I hear this show is dynamite.”
Please do Lips
Lips is such a good choice-he has such an interesting history, especially with the changes that they made to him in the Muppets Mayhem
@MuptownFunk I agree From being Accidentally offensive, To mostly the forgetten member of the band. To The guy that no one understands but everyone loves.
Awesome work on this video. Lew is great! I hope Diamond Select makes a figure of him, too.
@@gmtuttleA few days ago, Diamond Select actually announced that the next 2-pack they're making is Lips and Lew Zealand!
@@Thog_Muppet_fan I saw that! I'm so excited because those are the two I most want them to make. Thanks for sharing. Awesome!
Is anyone else ever Notice that he kind of looks like Ernie
I wonder if his voice inspired dr nick from the simpsons.
TY
No, no one remembers Lew. Ive been told I made him up by so many people
you kinda reminds of the realjims
